I like it! It fits very snugly, very nice, and it has a storage bag attached to the tail end of it, so you can just roll up the cover and stuff it in the bag...very handy.

>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;--------i can not turn my key sometime, this is a big issue, i can feel something is coming. it seems like the key is not the right key sometime.only sometime!
I would call this a BMW "feature". Next time when your key doesn't want to turn, don't force it. Turn your steering wheel a bit to take it off the steering lock, then turn your key. That way hopefully you won't mess up your ignition cylinder. My BMW, after 9 years, is pretty hard to turn. I call it the anti-theft feature because none of my friends could turn the ignition. Even the mechanics had a hard time turning my key over.

It is an anti theft feature, it's on most cars.

Thrillhouse, Mr. Teeny is a beaut with that UJ.

Another "little" update:

Friday night I got home and found that my MINI wasnt there! What. I ask and found that my mom had driven it to daytona, why, because earlier she took it to Tom Bush to get the filter and oil (even though she could have done it in any other car). Ok, fine, I fell asleep till like 10:30 when I was woken by my girlfriend calling, so I went outside and talked till 11:30 when mother got home. Great finally! Before she got home I cleared out the little part of our 3 car garage for her. I wanted to go for a little drive to get some food (excuses, excuses) and I got in and saw that there were Krispy Kreme donut flakes all over, wtf (got pics)! So she said she was eating them on the way home (even though she's on a diet!). So I get in and drive around then come back and put it in the garage. Disgusted by the dirty wheels I decided to clean them a little. I spent about 30 minutes with a hand rag thing and got them semi clean (got pics). Then I was in the garage till 2 am just going through it, jacking it up, looking under it, playing around with stuff.

Next morning I get up at noon and went outside to change the oil. Mom says the tech at the dealer said it didnt need it, he knew all about the metal left over from manufaturing and said that didnt happen on new cars, and I said "so you dont want me to change it even though you got all the stuff", she let me change it. Dad and I spent the next 30 minutes changing the oil. Some stuff to note: the oil pan nut is nice in that it doesnt let you over tighten it, the oil filter canister is a beast to get out! I cant even get our socket in their straight, had to put it on **** eyed as my dad said, it's also a pain to get back on, you never know when it is until you get it screwed on all the way, took a while for that. The dipstick sucks in my opinion, after you get it out (which was a challenge in itself, lol) you can barely read the oil level, you have to be very careful. After that my dad took a nap and then I moved the car into the driveway. I spent the next hour sweeping it out, it was very dirty (pics), then I spent an hour on the wheels with a basic dishwashing rag and got them real clean, heck, I had so much time I almost felt like taking the rims off and cleaning the backs (maybe next time I come home). After that I cleaned the engine bay with a rag and some soap, there was a bunch of left over oily stuff and some water spots, nothing heavy duty, just some simple cleaning. After that I took a break and just looked at it and sat in it for an hour or so. Then when 5:45pm rolled around and the relatives left it was time to wash. Dad got out the hose and sprayed it down then got the bugs off the front, then we washed it with our nice new microfiber towels (he bought 5 just for this car, the only other car he took car of so much was his stingray back right after college), mom sat there and watched and said "how come my Yukon doesnt get this, it's dirty too" and I told her it's not a MINI, just a Yukon, a stupid utility vehicle that no one can love, she thinks we're obsessed, we are! So after we cleaned and rinsed it good we broke out the chamoise, that thing is weird, it like sticks to the car. After I got the hang of it I dryed the car while dad got out the window cleaner squeege thing (you know, the wiper blade thingy) and squeeged off some water, then he got out a regular towel and we got it real clean. Then he actually asked me if I wanted to wax it! So he applyed and I buffed, then he did the tire shine stuff. After we got done (bout 6:40pm) I took lots of pics, some light, some dark, some with the lights on. Stupid water got the rotor rust/dust to drip onto the rotors and the wheels again! Dern.

After this we went to a sports bar (if you're local, it was Buffalo Wild Wings on blanding) and watched the FSU UVA game. Good game, thought it was gonna be a blowout till UVA picked up the pace in the 2nd quarter then lost it in the 4th when the QB missed the snap because he wasnt paying attention and got 20 yard sack! Close game though, UVA woulda won if it werent for that sack. Miami got us down even though everyone knew Miami was gonna beat us, specially in the rain/mud. Enough about the game.

Comments:
Before I started washing my neighbor came over while he was washing his Lexus SC430 and told me how cool it was and that he knew lots about them (not as much as me though) and I gave him the once over and we talked about it for a min. He also told me that he knew the owner or local head honcho for roadblock (my dealers clear bra) and that he got it all over his Lexus. While he was leaving he said tell your dad that Navy beat Air force, even though it was the first time in 14 years (dad went to AF, neighbor to Navy). It's nice when your 60 some odd thousand SC430 owning neighbor comes over and comments on your 20 some thousand MINI.

On the way to Buffalos Wild Wings I was driving about 5 over on 17 going into OP, we (dad and I) were just passing the BK when I passed this average looking GTI, I was still going 5 over, he speeds by me, then dad says "oh, see, he knows", so I'm in 4 doing about 55 and speed up and cruise by him, then put it back in 5th and continue to cruise, he then blows by and I drop into 4 then 3 and redlined so I didnt have any power to go, dern. Notice that this all took place at no more than 80 and no one was close to us untill we started to slow down anyways on the bridge. We had a good laugh and then turned onto Kingsley, hope that GTI doesnt think he's fast!

We're sitting at the kingsley/blanding light turning right, we end up next to this girl driving an old beat up honda, I'd say about a 5 or 6 year old civic, her boyfriend or brother, didnt know which was sitting next to her, their windows are rolled down. I was talking to dad when I hear this hey, I look next to me and this kid is trying to talk to me, I roll down the window and look at him, he said cool car then asked if it was fast, I said yes (hey, no stop light queen, but it's pretty quick, quicker than any honda) so he starts shaking his head in approval, and then the light turns green so I rev up and go around the corner and squeal the tires a bit for the kid.

It's also nice when the neighbor hood kids stare and yell cool car everytime I pass.

Bad stuff!:
I noticed a little blue spot on the passenger seat near the front right corner that wasnt there before! I have pics, but not a clue where it came from.

Father found a tiny dent in the driver door whilst chaning the oil! I looked at it and kinda got mad, but not too mad since it is only noticible in the right light and when you look for it. I later come to find out that mom did it in daytona, she was parked in a spot that only the MINI could fit in, but wasnt big enough for the doors. She got out and hit a motorcycle and didnt know it. She said this guy was coming out and said hey watch it, and then she said she didnt know why he said that, then he said that she was hitting those bikes, so she apologized, then he said no, the bikes are fine, you'll dent your door though! So she thinks nothing of it and goes on her way, only to find out later through me that she did it, I wasnt mad at her. She said she would be in getting it fixed on monday and I told her not to worry about it, it's not bad and only get it fixed if another one happens that is big. Pics to come. Good thing she doesnt like driving it ("you have to shift all the time" she says, even though she drives our tacoma 5 speed!) because she wont be putting any more dents or getting more donut flakes in it!

I'm looking at the roadblock whilst obsessing over the car for the day and notice right under the foglight that they applied the bra too tight and it was peeling off! Dad said he was gonna go get that fixed asap along with other spots of the bra. Pics later.

I also noticed some scratches on the right rear rim, nothing big, you have to be close, but still! Pics also.

As I was cleaning the interior after the sweeping, I was windexing the part of the car under the door, I think they are sills, cant remember the correct term, and notice some scratches on both "MINI Cooper S" plates! Pics too.

When washing the car I was looking at the rear bumper and noticed 2 black scratches in the paint that were perpindicular to each other, about a few centimeters each. Pics as well.

Other than that I am still obsessed with the little beast and very pleased, except for the fact that it already has 1300 miles (exactly, pic) in a week! It's only supposed to get about 11k a year! Jesh, we have to slow down on driving it. They let my 16 year old brother take it on 2 dates, so he's put about 60 on it, some of which he spent at 120! I swear if he wrecks my car he will die! Dad drives it to work almost every day, that's 40 a day, which is around 9k miles a year if he dosnt drive it for a month. He parks by his friends Boxster and his other friends Vette at work, both of whom like it as well.

We've been in discussion about a whalen for 2 weeks now and we think we've settled on a british flag with some words. He is also open to mods that arent major (means no pulley until the warranty is up, darn, oh well, only 3 years to go) like intake and not too loud exhaust, he likes it the way it sounds now so I'm thinking borla street or scorpion, with the alta and madness rear sway bar.

That's about it for now, I'll post plenty of pics on sunday when I get back to FSU and am carless till thanksgiving .

MINI discount

Just got back from car wash. i was about to wash myself, but sicne i have no tools and the wax so i went to one of the car wash around the block.

Full service Car wash, 12.99
The guy ask me if i want to put some wax on for 20.00. since it is the first time wash it, i dont really care how much. So i go ahead and ask him to do it.

While he put on the wax and protectant for interio, we were talking about the car, he have not seen a loaded MINI. a lot of people also ask "what is it?" same thing that some of them think it is a PT!!

I try Ryan, lol.

Nice story chris.

Today mom told me that the insurance lady thought it was a PT when she was on the phone with her. She had my mom confused and both of them thought it was a PT, mom said that they both agreed it was a guy thing and that they both looked the same. OMG, crazy fools! LOL.

Today I drove 15 miles or so on some errands and I got back and noted the boot was dirty and the wheels were dirty again (if silver is this bad, I cant imagine white!). So I got out a rag and wiped all the dirt off the boot, then another for the wheels, and then cleaned all the mirrors again. I also have found a new defect in the paint, a little chip on the back to the right of the driver side tail light (got pics). Man, it just doesnt end does it, I still love it though, and suprisingly all these little nicks I've recently found are not detracting from the experience at all. In all I've probably spent 20 or so hours cleaning it this weekend! I think I'm gonna go try the brake light mod since I leave at 4 for FSU (UVA sucks! hahahaha) and it's only like 30 minute job or so.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I just did the brake light mod, took me 40 minutes, that's only because my hands are so shaky that I was having a hard time with the electrical tape (doesnt look pretty!). But there is a definate improvement noticable even in the middle of the day.

Wow, just got back to my jail cell and am now carless again. I drove my friends Kia Sephia back for her and my goodness how I do hate driving anything but a MINI, it was so sloppy.

I do love how I got lost in my friends neighbor hood and stopped next to some kids for directions and they told me and then said cool car. Yes.

I was also going about my business way up ahead of traffic on 17 because I took off fast, then this harley comes blazing by just staring at my MINI. I love it.

I took 200 megs worth of pics, so I think about 50 or so high quality, I'll post later, I'm tired.

It was 20 years ago today...... Actually, it was just 8 weeks ago but it seems
like 20 years since I ordered Sgt. Pepper. Well, my MA just called and said
my car is in!!!! I am picking it up at 3 today. Then on to Discount Tire to
mount my R90s and Falkens. I'll try to post some pictures tonight. This
is old news to most of the October club but i was at the tail end.

I picked up my Pepper White/Pepper White "S" from Long Beach MINI on Saturday afternoon. Long Beach MINI had a total of 97 cars from the 198 received this week off the "Don Quijote". Eleven showed up on Friday and nine on Saturday, and I was only the fifth person to pick up their car.I'm shocked that so few people would pick up their car. I guess the excitement is ordering it, but not driving it. Maybe it takes time to arrange financing or the sun was out and 85 degrees, so the beach takes priority.
The car is great and feels a lot tighter than my 02 Cooper. It'll be tough keeping it under 4500 RPM's for 1250 miles.
i hope everyone enjoys their new MINI, as October draws to a close.

Well, I stopped by the dealership on the way home from work yesterday, and it seems that they are even more clueless than I am about where my Mini is. I asked if they knew where it is, and they told me they weren't sure if the boat had docked yet! I informed them that indeed it had on the 14th, and my car was unloaded on the 14th, but they just gave me a canned response about how there's probably delays due to not having enough trucks or maybe VPC issues. When I asked if they had any idea what the date would be, they told me probably the beginning of NEXT MONTH. I also told them about the EDD in the OL still saying 10/15, and their reply was "Yeah, Mini kills us with those dates". If the OL is so unreliable, why do they even have it?

Anyway, congrats to those on the Don Q. finally getting their Minis!

My EDD moved from 10/24 to 10/21 in the past few days. What is up with that? After hearing about people missing their EDDs, I am a little confused why OL would throw me a bone like that.

Hope to hear from my MA soon and straighten it all out.

Congrats to those who have their cars!

Mike

My car arrived at the dealer last night! Finally an EDD that was correct. Dealer is 200 miles away, so I am waiting until Saturday to pick it up! I'll report back this weekend or early next week. Yay for me!

Sorry I've been MIA. I've been really busy with work. In fact that's what I should be doing right now.

At any rate:

Cooper4us: I haven't installed the chrome grill yet.

I'm sort of at a crossroads, my husband really likes the aero kit (I do too) but I think if we go the aerokit route then no chrome grill. The one I saw looked bad beacuse it was half chrome and half black from the aero grill. Any thoughts? Anyone?
I really need to get the invisible bra intalled but don't want to pay to have it installed now, just to have to re-do half of it when getting the aero installed. (My dealer said it's all or nothing I can't just get the upper (bonnet) portion done,)

Does anyone know a place in the greater Philadelphia area that installs the 3m roadblack besides the dealer? The dealer uses a outside contractor but of course won't say who.

What does everyone think about waiting until 10k to change oil? We've always changed the oil on new cars about 1k (which is now).

Happy Motoring and Congrats to everyone who has their MINI! Those that don't... not much longer now!!!

MEB

It's wonderful to see the CWFOC slowing down in it's postings. We all know what that means.

I wish you all the best with the new addition to your families.

Peace,

I've had my Mini for a little over 24 hours now and all is well. Still need to arrange
for the window tint and put on the Sgt. Pepper license plate. I really like the red
interior with the Pepper White exterior. Here is an early pic.
