R50/53 The "Can't wait for October" club
I cant remember where I got it but here it is, I changed it some, so you might want to change it as well. Basically just look the car over good and make sure nothing is out of place, etc...
*Have dealer program lock to open/close windows/sunroof via, reverse key turn
* Check windshield in the following locations, for signs of stress cracking...
* Perform a test in a smooth flat line and release wheel to insure neutral steering, under acceleration
*DO NOT ADD ANY DEALER STICKER, DECAL, LISENCE PLATE BRKT ETC.
* Try to get second remote key
Tire Pressure (some cars badly over/under inflated)
Coolant and oil levels. Run car for a bit to see coolant is circulating.
Boot (trunk) closure and opening.
See that windows are going up/down about 1/4 inch upon opening and closing doors.
Check the leading edge of the doors and the trailing edge of the doors for wax as well as all round the bonnet. Mine was covered where the wax had not been cleaned.
Check all the painted plastic moldings inside on the doors for scratches and chips.
Check the non painted plastic moldings on the doors for gloss marks also.
Check the bumpers for paint faults also - mine has lost paint from the front bumper after only 4 weeks
Check both interior door panels for fit and finish.
9)Check seats for imperfections.
10)Check rear seat fold.
11)Check interior panels, headliner for imperfections.
12)Check both seat adjustments and rear passenger access fold/slide.
13)Operate all wipers and xenon headlight washers.
14)Check windows/sunroof operation.
15)Check door locks (interior toggle).
16)Check exterior mirrors adjustment.
17)Check radio/CD operation.
18)If present check computer/nav system.
19)Open bonnet.
20)Start engine, listen for unusual sounds.
21)With engine running inspect engine compartment.
22)Take a drive, check shifting, pull to right or left, unusual sounds, heater/air conditioning operation. (ignore the electric car sound you will hear at parking lot speeds, it’s the electric power steering.
23)When return and with engine running check engine compartment for any leaks, splashes, etc.
I didnt write this so the stuff that says something happened to the car, it's the guys car who wrote this. You shouldnt have any problems anyways. It seems all the 04s so far have come out flawless (except for the key issues I've heard about).

I can't believe how quiet all the "October club" gang on the west coast are, as the Don Quijote approaches Port Hueneme. I spoke to the freight company today at the harbor and they told me the vessel is due in tomorrow night and will start unloading Wednesday morning. Long Beach MINI is receiving 97 cars, so it will take some time to make everyone happy. They have never processed more than 50-60 cars in a month, so it will certainly be a challenge.
Thanks for the checklist, that will be a challenge in itself to look at all those items. i usually discover half the imperfections when I wash it for the first time.
I was hoping for my MINI to be delivered this week, but I'll have to be realistic, and hope for next week at the earliest. I'll miss the Long Beach Poker Run, but I was in the same position last year, when I picked up my 1st MINI. Oh well, Maybe next year.

Say, would it be best to wait till the break-in period passes before I play around with the CVT's manual mode? I feel like, if I play around with it now, I'm gonna just want to bury the tach needle...lol

People posting pictures of their new cars is much bigger news than all of us West Coasters waiting on the slowest boat known to man.

hey Bk_MCS, thanks for that Delivery Checklist! It's definitely a good idea to give your MINI a thorough once-over before leaving the dealership. If you happen to have anything not-perfect, you want them to know before you take possession!
Alart!!!!!!!!
There are no alarm available for 2004 model year.
It has been mentioned in Bridger's site. I have ask MA about it. they have no info. They still tell me to wait, no time frame so far!!!
Coolant Bottle Issue.
Went to Hilton Head and get back, my coolant is in MIN level, isn't it should be in MAX level??
Everything else has been great. the only thing bothers me on highway is the engine noise when over 70 miles. i did not know it was that loud! is it just me??
It is a really really powerful and fun car. good choice to myself!

look at your coolant level when the engine is cold also to get a bandwidth; the factory may not've put in enough.
loud over 70mph? The noise level in Mr.Motor (and every other MINI I've been in) is rather progressive; the noise floor goes from quiet to moderate from stop to about 70, and over 70 the increase in cabin noise doesn't change much, all the way up to 130 (tested on a closed course, of course
) I would never consider the noise floor to be "loud", especially compared to a Viper or any street-rod. What gear are you in Chris? At 70mph, you should be cruising in 6th. Also, what kind of noise are you hearing?

Last week I tried to do a post on delivery of my mcs, did long 3 paragraphs then did something wrong and it all blew up before I hit submit. Have been Motoring since, washing car, you all know the drill. Here is smaller version of experience to date.
Picked up my Chili Red, white roof, mirrors & wheels (17" S-lites),Sport pkg,Mulit-function wheel,Black Panther Leather on Oct. 10th. from mini of Pgh. MA was great, car almost perfect... I checked tire pressure & all 4 were 51 lbs... changed them to 34 lbs. Torque on wheels was OK. Love the car... No Stumble at all, although after about 500 miles I may be detecting a small yo yo. Hard to tell as only happens while accelerating slowly. Don't notice it if accelerating a bit more agressively. Keeping it under 4500 rpms although once did get up to 4800 on down shift for exit ramp. Brake dust a *****, especially with white wheels. Already have EBC Greens to put on. Installed Alta Intake last nite. While sound is nice (almost like straight cut gears) and acceleration smoother, can't feel much HP gain while staying under 4-4500 rpms. Ride with 17" runflats not all that bad. Was going to get lighter 16" wheels & Yoks right away but, now think I'll just use up the runflats then up-grade later. Getting a lot of looks, and kids shout out "Nice Car" Got 30 MPG on first tank of gas and thats while keeping rpms 3-4k while on turnpike, shifting 5th. & 6th. often. Going to Richmond, VA this weekend and will see how much the mpg is on a trip. Not rattles, everything works. By the way... know how many Minis I've seen on the road since I got mine??? NONE. Kinda nice to be exclusive.
Could go on a bit longer but.... Got To Motor, Got To Motor.

Hi Ryan, sorry for the delay, but here it is.
In the delivery bay, waiting to be unwrapped.

Unwrapped!

In the delivery bay, can't wait to motor!

This is my favourite picture.

Side view, in the afternoon sun.

Silver dash trim, Nav, and Whalen brushed/polished combo. You can see a bit of the MINI-FINI cup holder as well.

MINI Logo when doors are opened. Welcome aboard!

Nav screen with map on the left and lat/long/alt on the right. I'm parked at my church's parking lot, so I am not on a street.

Enjoy these pictures!

that 80mph is my "speed limit"..... It is user selectable, and the car gives a "ding" when I exceed this speed limit This falls under "what are they thinking when they decided to put that there!?" category.....
With NAV, the OBC is integrated into the NAV instead of Tachometer. With the latest NAV software, the programmers were kind enough to put more info on the map screen. Since there is not much room, they decided to pick 2 out of 6 or 7 pieces of info they could put there. Their choice of displaying temp is good, but I really do not understand why they decided to display my speed limit there. I would have prefereed "range"......

I am one of those West coasters stuck waiting for my MINI. So I finally broke into my Zaino Kit and spent 2.5 hours on my wife's Civic (stock civic). It looks really nice, according to her 'better than it has ever looked, even new'. Glad I took the time to practice on hers cuz the clay bar was a little wierd. Now I am ready for the real test, someday.
well guys, i got my mini at 8:30 last nite , but only have 130 miles on it. got all my accessories (so far) installed. and its been pouring all day!! I can't find anything wrong with it!!
I luv this car. dave and ed at classic mini are the greatest, highly recommend doing business with them. I also got a pic of julie in my car, will post as soon as i figure out how to. this car is awsome, and very hard to keep under 4,000 rpm. the smothest shifter i have ever used (in about 20 cars ) no rattles, no problems so far, well worth the wait!!! later, Tim
p.s., now you know why joy calls me fuzzyface!!
