Since naming your mini is part of the initiation, I'm going with "Plato". Not the Greek dude, were talking degrees Plato (I brew much beer).
Our laser blue JCW will be getting picked up on Monday and as of today's IPA revelation, I'll be able to refer to him by name.

We have never named a car before but heard that is part of the MINI ownership. So after many hours and names we decided on Mrs. Peel. We have a pepperwhite convertible with a blue top (she is 3 weeks old). My husband was watching a old T.V. program The Avengers. Mrs. Peel is british, sexy and drives a fast convertible. The name seemed fitting.

BEELZEBUB

Never "named" a car in my life, but after driving my '08 DS/B MCS for over a year, I decided on "Beelzebub". One of the meanings is "Dark Prince", the others are pretty grim (). I then find out that naming Minis is a tradition!? Must be genetic engineering of some kind.

Wendolene - Wallace & Gromit

My neighbor friend insisted I name my mini - and that it be a female name with a British tie. The other day as I passed in front of my red MCS convertible with white racing stripes and lamps it occured to me how much it resembles the cars done by Nick Park of Wallace & Gromit fame. So I figured maybe I'd name my car Gromit but then it needed to be a British lady's name so Wallace's girlfriend was Wendolene. I'm having a lot of fun with Wendolene especially when she takes her top down on evening drives.

I dont really get the point in naming a car - i feel silly referring to my car by a human name. I guess I just need to take delivery first, but right now It seems silly to me. :-\

Don't sweat it -- not everyone feels the need to name their car. And some cars inspire naming, others don't. My wife's subaru outback? Not so much. It's a perfectly respectable, boring, functional car with not much personality. (ssssh, don't tell her I said that ). But my Mini Cooper S? Definite personality. I quickly discovered that she's a high strung redhead and her name is Pepper.

oh that is classic. i've been such a top gear addict lately that i would probably have named my mini after clarkson, but i have a pretty strong rule about cars having feminine names, as i like to at least imagine that the cars i drive are beautiful and graceful. but, since my last post, i've more or less made the name abbey official for my mini. no personalized license plate at the moment (although my cousin saw a mini that said DIET SUV on the plates, and i'm tempted to find this person and steal his or her plates), but one day, i'm thinking of completely shaving every decorative piece off of the exterior of the car, except for the stripes, and having my car proudly announce her name, her john cooper heritage, and her BMW attitude through various decals on top of the bonnet stripes.

My MINI's name is Sapphire. The name came to me as soon as I test drove the car, it was like the car knew I was going to take her home.

I wanted something British and sassy to match my girls personality. I came up with Roxanne, from the Police, but I call her Roxxy!

What's Your MINI's Name and Why

Our first Mini was named after the lady's voice that used to warn me of danger in the military aircraft I flew. Of course, Betsy's silence did her no great service since I ended up rolling her--an inglorious ending to a hot affair.

Our new family edition is named Prudence. I think the irony is obvious.

Am curious as to how you came up with the name for yours. Please share.

There was a long thread about that somewhere here.

My favorite character in the Tolkien trilogy. Also, plays on the old expression "bombing around" which seems appropriate for an MCS.

Didn't see the other thread, or at least what looked like a similar thread, when given the choices at the bottom of the new thread request. But, sometimes I hurry through things. Wife is certainly convinced of that.

Maybe we have some new owners out there interested in sharing their story. Guess we'll see.

(BTW, I always liked Bombadil.)
