My MINI's name changes like every other week. I guess you could say he doesn't really have a name, just nick names. What's his real name? We'll never know... He is a he though... I'm almost positive
It's kind of like Starbucks for me, I always give them a made up name. It's not that strange. It's actually kind of fun. Give it a try sometime.
edit: His name is Jerry right now. (Off the semi-silent cartoon Tom & Jerry. Jerry's the mouse that always slips away from Tom the cat

Naming my Mini
I did not name my Mini. I drove him, listened, ... and he revealed it to me.
Rupert Marvolo
Rupert Giles was the Watcher for Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (series, NOT the crappy movie!)
Marvolo came from the Harry Potter novels - a name Lord Voldemort used...
So, I believe his name comes from his British roots and his "bad boy" side.
Rupert Marvolo...
I'm very glad, too, because I don't know that I could handle it if he had been a "she".

You know now that I've had my car about 6 weeks and had a name for him ever since it has totally changed my view of my car.
My old car was just a car and parts of it were cool, but it was still something that I drove.
My MINI, Jeremy, is just different. I don't agree with people who say you have to name it a girls name. Some people think of it as a 'girlfriend', but I think of Jeremy like an old dog. A companion and a friend almost.
Sounds geeky and odd, but I enjoy every minute of my daily 30-45min commute to and from school with Jeremy.

Say hello to "Paddy". Pretty easy really - BRG, I'm irish and Paddy Hopkirks win in the Monte Carlo is one of the high points in Mini history - unfortunately since the clubman is somewhat "wagonesque" it does get called the Paddy wagon on occasion

Which One Is The Sports Car?
I already posted Prudence's name in this thread. Here is another reason she deserves her moniker. She's sitting next to a $75k Porsche that I could have bought.
CHUBBIE
Ok, so after three weeks of owning my 2009 Clubman S Chili Red. I have named her "Chubbie". This may seem an odd name however there is (as always) a story behind this name. My younger sister (34yrs) passed away back in April and after 24yrs of medical problems caused by a brain tumor when she was 10. Anyway her passing caused me to take some chances and understand that everything in life does not need to be practical. I have wanted a Mini for 5years but had put it off because it did not make sense, size, price, etc... Anyway I was curious to see if anyone else had stories as to how they named their cars.
CHUBBIE: Comes from a joke my sister did where she would push both hands against her cheeks and say "Hi my name is Chubbie..." Very funny.
