Does your MINI have a name?
I have an IY MCS convertible named "Mondo" that just rolled off the ship in Oxnard. Mondo comes from the large latte I have every morning at my favorite coffee stand and the girls there are glad I named my car Mondo..they say "Chris & Mondo" just sounds good!! I think of him as "lil' Mondo"...kind of like a little big guy. hehe.

never officially named my mini, but i've been referring to it as abbey for some time now. why? because i knew i wanted a british-sounding (after all, the mini comes from a british tradition), feminine name for my mini, and one day while doing a delivery for work, i passed by an abbey street, said "wow that would be a good name for my car" and have used it henceforth as my mini's name.
although i've been thinking of how to work an acronym into a name, which would really give me reason to keep it. if i shorten "abbey" to "abi", i can write it upside-down and make it an acronym for Indi Blue Amazement, which fits really well because i love my paint color with all my heart. on second thought, maybe abbey will permanently stick as a name...

Always named our cars. Our 71 VW Camper van was Betsy. My wife's 09 MCS JCW is Samantha from HBO's Sex In The City series. Well you know she thinks it's sexy. Mine is named MoJo, 'cause, well it is my MoJo... my MoJo Mini.
Blue is named after Joseph "Blue" Palasky, the old fraternity pledge from the movie Old School. I loved how Will Ferrell always said, "Blue, You're my boy". That is how I felt when I saw the new color Mini offered; Horizon Blue. Blue was born in February 09 and driven off the lot at Patrick Mini on June 6th, 09........"Blue, You're my boy"!!!!!!
My MINI is on his/her way to me now...I've picked out 2 names based on characters from my favorite childhood stories:
Male: Alexander (as in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day)
Female: Eloise (based on the 1950's series of books about a precocious little girl)

I bought my 2006 MCS JCW a couple of months ago and named him Kobal. Kobal was the Archangel of Laughter before the fall, accompanied Satan to Hell, and became the Demon Prince of Dark Humor. He is sometimes also called the Entertainment Director of Hell, and is the patron of comedians. I have just ordered a KOBAL personalized plate -- thanks, State of California!
Name for Minis
Hi. I named my mini Simon. I got him in 2004 and within a week just knew that was his name. People think I am strange to name a car, but it just seemed right.
Sadly, he broke down last week and is in the garage for a problem with his electrical system. Very Sad.

My wife always named her cars, which I thought was silly. But when we got our MINIs for Christmas, she named her Mellow Yellow "Sunny" (the kids voted for "Bumblebee," naturally).
I had mine two days when I just knew my PW/B's name was "Spike." I hadn't even given it any thought.
What, and why did you name your MINI? Or do you think its silly?

Hi everybody ! I'm new to this forum.
I come from Switzerland and I'm the happiest owner of a lovely MINI COOPER D (yes, the diesel version, available in Europe) since last Christmas.
She (because she's a she, of course
) is nightfire red with a black top, and has round blue (xenon) eyes.... so of course we called her 'Betty Boop'.
Betty is very british, she loves her blackjack side scuttles and mirror caps.
And no, I don't think it's silly at all to name a MINI. After all, this car is so adorable, and we owners tend to overpersonalize (or "humanize") it as much as possible... right ?

Haven't ordered one yet (going to hold off for a few months), but if I go with Chili Red, he might end up being named Rincewind
Now if I can just get my hands on a miniature Luggage collectible to put into the secret compartment...

mini names
My wife and I just purchased our first MCS on 06/13/09. That night while motoring on some nice curvy/hilly back roads, we encountered billions of bugs. Then all of a sudden SMACK on to the windshield, a bug hungry bat hit. Needless to say it scared the hell out of us. Now I'm not normally a car namer but we decided to call it batslayer just for fun. Fortunately, there was no damage done to the windshield.
While my MC was passing through the birth canal, I started looking up names online. I was going to go with Prometheus for the bringer of fire, but then the name Keagan jumped off the page at me. Keagan (f) is an Irish name meaning little and fiery. Perfect!!
Keagan she is.
Keagan she is.
Hmmm... Which one? Penfold (05 DS/W MCS) is named after the 1980's cartoon character from DangerMouse. Tink ("1979" Mini) was named after Tinkerbell since they both came from an island (Tinkerbell- Neverland & Tink New Zealand) also Tink's fuel pump sounds like "tink tink tink..." My wife's 08 LB/W MCS, is named Barrett after a character from the Patrick O'Brien books. Our next MINI will be... TBD.
For years, before we bought our Mini, my wife and I enjoyed watching a British comedy show on PBS called "Keeping Up Appearances". My favorite character on that program was named Onslow, a perfectly typical British name. So it was only natural that that became his name. Onslow.

I knew which name to pick for my JB/W MINI as soon as I thought of a roof graphic design for him:
Domino
great minds think alike!
even before i placed my order, i knew my car would have a name. my old car's name was "sasi," after all. i've gotten many of my friends to name their cars, even though initially, they thought it was silly.
anyway, i was a big fan of the HBO series, rome. one of the characters, atia, was absolutely spellbinding to me. so i considered "atia" for several weeks. however, i eventually decided that "domina," the honorific for the woman of the house was perfect--slightly bitchy, a little obscure, and a bit elitist (since MINIs are, in my opinion, the best cars ever!).
...and that was before i decided she was going to be pw/b!
