My MINIs name is Maxwell Smart after the secret agent on the show Get Smart (except my Maxwell is British and intelligent). Its MaxMINI for short, but I've been calling him Sexy Beast since I got his windows tinted a couple of weeks ago!

Well, a popular misconception. It was actually an Austin 1100 Countryman. Sort of a stretched Mini. He beat the crap out of it in one episode, so I don't think he was fond of it.

My Mini's name is Kelvin. Named after the British scientist who developed the absolute temperature scale. Why? because I try to teach science to jr. high kids and they think the car is hot. So if i ever get a number, I'll get 373, the boiling point of water in degrees Kelvin.

First MINI (1/03-5/07)...no name. Second MINI (since 5/07)...no name. I think perhaps I'm not very good at picking MINI names.

I named my MINI "Noot."

It's not really a name, not even really a word. Think mild phonetic grunt.

As it happens, "Noot" ryhmes with lotsa feelgood words -- cute, beaut, hoot, boot, loot, poot(y) , toot and then there's Zoot (as in Sims.)

Wait, I forgot WOOT! Shame...

Once this vibe settled in, I found myself making words up, combining them into a morning greeting something along the lines of "Good Morning, my little hootie, cutie Nootster." When Noot isn't motorin', he's nootorin', black wheels and all...

There's more, but I gotta go - time for my meds.

Glad to hear I'm not the only person talking to my car. I park a looooong way from everyone else, so I have a lot of time to admire him as I'm walking up to him. And usually, I have something to say to him.

(Mr. Beebe or sometimes just Arthur) It came to me like a bolt from the blue, I have no idea why, I just knew it was perfect.

I named my MINI "Skates". This is from the chorus of a song from the orginal Italian Job Movie made in the '60s. "Get your skates on mate"

My 1st MINI was a 2003 British Racing Green with white roof and his name was Frogger.
My current MINI is a 2006 Pepper White convertible and his name is "Bianco Habenero" which duh, is white pepper in spanish!
And yes, my MINI is a "boy" because he has a stick shift!

How did you name your MINI?

My wife always named her cars, which I thought was silly. But when we got our MINIs for Christmas, she named her Mellow Yellow "Sunny" (the kids voted for "Bumblebee," naturally).

I had mine two days when I just knew my PW/B's name was "Spike." I hadn't even given it any thought.

What, and why did you name your MINI? Or do you think its silly?

The '03 MCS is named Nittany because it's Indi Blue & White and the owner is a Penn State grad.

The '07 MCc is named Dougal... partly because another car in our "fleet" is a '79 Spitfire named Baldrick and we wanted to continue with the British sit-com theme...

My '95 Dodge 2500 4x4 Cummins is casually named Max, although I usually just refer to it as "the Dodge" or "that big POS..."

My '03 Jetta TDI wagon and the '73 Volvo 1800ES don't have names... jsut nothing came to mind that stuck.

I love that name, Gromit- excellent name for a MINI.

But mine is not named Gromit... I do not have my car yet but he does have a name, Sir Maximilain Cooper S.

I was going between Max (Max the MINI- a play on words) or Maggie. My sister once had a horse named Maggie so that name wasn't well received by certain members of my peanut gallery. Then I thought of Maximilian. I have always liked that name for some reason- it sounds very sophisticated to me. The Sir part was added for the royal effect. Sir Maximilian. Very classy!

Right now I'm driving Gretta the green Jetta.

Lewis is small, British, cute, and fast - it's a natural. (Lewis Hamilton for those non-F1 fans)
