Ah, I kind of wondered if someone might have beaten me to the name. I'm definitely not married to it, so we'll go with Sarge until I actually take delivery and see if the car speaks to me.
Motor on, especially since I have to live vicariously through everyone else!

It just came to me in a vision... Yeah, that's it... a vision... that's the ticket...

Anyway, his name is Tug. Now, I know that your next question is going to be, "what the hell?". Well, I'll tell ya... Tug is parked behind my 95 F-150 extended cab longbed pickup and he looks like a shiny new tug behind a well used barge. Thus, Tug.

Problem solved...I had a moment of inspiration based on the day mine when into production.

I had two names picked out...D.T. (Dejah Thoris - princess of Mars for you Burrough's fans out there) for if the MINI demonstrated a "female personality", Moe if (it) seemed more "male".

Guess which won.

That's a great one! I can't decide. My plates say EXIRA K. However, that's MY alter ego name. Only close friends know that so people assume it is the car's name. Nope. It will speak to me at some point and I'll start calling her something other than "the MINI".

Mine is named Pippin, for the smallest and most fleet-footed Hobbit.

I don't have a name yet, I've got a couple of names...
Since I got my MINI on the 4th of July - "Indy" (short for independence)
"Sgt. Pepper" (I got a Pepper White Mini) but I guess "oldtrojan66" has that so scratch that...
Other names are "Bianca" & "MINImus Fortis Carrus" - latin for small powerful car (there isn't a latin word for car so I made that up ) or "MINImus"

I haven't named mine yet. I think we should probably meet and get to know each other a bit first.

I considered Mini P, because my nickname is Matty P, but I'm not sure.

I've been thinking hard about this. I've mentioned in other posts about a family joke with the husbands GT500. I stuck a HYBRID badge on it and we get more laughs because of it. Some people really believe it's a HYBRID and others laugh along with us. So at first I was going to purchase another badge and name the Mini HYBRID, but it's almost too believable and others don't know the joke with the hubby's car.

Today it hit me. Since we ordered the Mini in the same color scheme as the hubby's 2007 Shelby Cobra GT500, I think Shelby Jr. fits well. Any comments? I like it! It gets me away from the smart comments folks would be making about it carrying a HYBRID badge.

As the car gets closer to delivery the hubby is going to post on his GT500 forum on the StangsUnleashed site that his car is going to have a baby. Since most on the forum thought we were considering a second Shelby, that's what they will be thinking we are waiting for. When we post pics of the Mini they are going to be somewhat up dazed. They'll get over it. I've been wanting this car since it's come back and just by chance in the exact color scheme I ordered. I can't help it that my hubby copied me.

So thus far Shelby or Shelby Jr. sounds like it may be it. Shelby if it's a girl and I guess Shelby Jr. if it's a boy. I'm leaning toward a girl. Too early to tell.

Today I reserved the personalized plates that read SHLBY JR. This reflects my Mini looking like my hubby's Shelby Cobra GT500. Kind of a family joke.

I was going to transfer my other plates that read N2BEADZ. This reflects my hobby of working with glass beads.

Neither really has anything to do with anything Mini. The good ones seem to have all been taken.

Mini S Pilot, you got a great idea going on here! I think it's very clever and Shelby or Shelby Jr. (pending gender decision) sounds like a good name and a great takeoff on your husband's GT 500!

Congrats on getting the plates and naming the MINI. Shelby Jr. is a good name and it fits well with your situation. Now there is just one little thing that I ask of you... Post some pics of Shelby Jr. (when he arrives) alongside his big bro! I think that it would look awesome!

When mine finally arrives it will be "Basil." The wife's MG Midget racecar is "Felicity" (of Shagwell fame), my XKE Shaguar is "Austin." So Basil (full name Basil Exposition) was an option. I liked the name Basil, anyway, though I'm hoping that it isn't Basil Fawlty!

Basil Fawlty did drive a Mini in at least 1 episode.
I named my classic "The Wee Beastie" (must be said with a Scottish accent).

My aunt dubbed herself our MINI's godmother and she named her Mia. Which we dig!

Thanks for the supporting response. We are already talking about an excellent background for taking some really nice pics of both cars. The husbands GT500 forum buddies are going to loose it when we post pics. They were sure we were going to purchase another GT500. He's going to wait until the Minis about a week out and post a thread on his forum that his car is going to have a baby very soon. That should help us pass the last week a little faster with his forum. Actually since ordering the Mini I haven't even been on his forum.

I doubt if the two autos would ever meet, with the distance involved, so I wouldn't mind, but you're welcome to do as you wish.
