Great picture! I can appreciate, because I know how hard those are to photograph. Yes, they are seriously bright! Looks great on your car!!
Hey guys I have a Canadian spec JCW and just had the LED's fitted and used the NCS expert to disable the DRL's. I have only 1 problem, everything works perfectly but for some reason the halo only works when I have my headlights switched off? when it's set to automatic in the daylight my headlights aren't turning off and I'm only getting the partial halo? anybody have any thoughts on this?
@tigerwong
Yup the daytime running lights are switched off using NCS expert. In Canada we do not have the option to switch off the drl's in BC settings unfortunately. When my lights are set to the off position on the stalk I get the full halo's but when I set it to Auto my headlights are coming on? I have read in one of these posts that in off or auto in the daylight you should get full Halo's am I wrong??

.When you have it in AUTO are your other lights (including the dashboard) on too or just the headlights? If the other lights are on then it's just not bright enough outside (like I said the sensitivity is horrible). If the other lights are not on then you have the configuration in NCS Expert wrong (If you change your country code you should be able to get the DRL settings on the BC).
Great. That is exactly how it is suppose to work. Headlights on equals half halos. They think you're going to blind someone.
But headlights and fog lights work together, so blind away...;-)
Fog lights also work with lights in the Park or Running Light (center) position. The center position allows for tail lights without heads, add fog to the front to run without headlights and still be well seen. Perfect for those low light overcast dizzily days.
Hello guys, do you know any shop here in Austin, TX that can install these LEDs? When I brought my R60S at Mini of Austin for cracked windshield replacement my service advisor told me they have the LEDs on stock and they can install it for me. But 3 days after I picked up my car I was told that they did not install them because "they are not approved". I do not know what that means but I suspect they tried to install them but of no success. I really love to have this LEDs on my R60 S so I decided to order them from amazon (
) today and have them installed somewhere else.
Many thanks in advance

Stash do you have it wedged in there? Is there any chance the control unit will chafe against the shock tower? If there's any movement at all I'm concerned it could rub the paint off the shock tower where it's making contact. Also, what way did you orient the unit? With the wires facing the front of the car or with them coming out from below?
I like that idea! I was originally considering putting it under the cowl on the left side of the car where the brake reservoir is but if the necessary wires will reach across from the right side that would be great? Is your battery on the right side of the vehicle as it in for North American models? I know on right hand drive vehicles the battery is on the left side.

I did some exploratory surgery today to see where I can neatly fit the control unit (since taping or zip tying it to the fuse box doesnt look right to me) and, after figuring out how to remove the wiper arms and cowl (good practice since I'm sure there will be several times I'll have to do this) I looked around under the cowl to see where I can stow the box and still run the wires where they need to go.
My first instinct was to check for room under the wiper linkage which required removal of the whole assembly (more practice). Unfortunately, there's not enough room to fit and neatly secure the box there.
Well, at least I can say I have experience removing my wiper linkage assembly.
So, I looked over near the battery side and found an upright plastic piece just to the right of the battery under the cowl (part # 51712755865).
Number 6 on this diagram:

I tried to place it against that but there is a slope towards the bottom which prevented it from fitting up against the flat part of this piece. I removed the piece and started cutting a slot through this slope with my dremel. It came out a little sloppy since I was "in the groove" but it will allow me to secure it there. The wiring branches that go to the lights would have to come through the cowl (easily done by cutting a small notch in the upper edge of the cowl with the weatherstrip removed) and will still reach. As for the other 3 wires, the 2 that need to go to the fuse box will have to be lengthened a foot since the box will be closer to right side of the car. I thought about this and figured if I used a few posi-lock weathertite connectors I can add some length AND only need to drill a small hole for a grommet in the left side of the cowl to pass wires through since the wire will be cut (dont need to pass the whole spade lug connectors through).
OH, and I'll probably order a new piece #51712755865 just so I can cut more neatly and carefully. I have issues.
So, basically, all you'd see are some wires neatly exiting the cowl. Easy Beezy! Time for a beer (Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye).

Post up some pics of the control unit relocation when you have it done , sounds like a neat idea.
