Hello all,

If this has been brought up already, apologies...I think I read through all 25 pages of this thread and didn't see an answer.

I just came over from VW (4 days ago)...loving my MINI experience so far. I told my wife I wasn't really going to mod anymore (yet here I am.) I've done retrofits before...I'm moderately handy and good with a DIY, so I'm excited about this community. Here's my question:

I've got a 2014 Clubman (Justa Cooper, no fogs from factory) and LOVE these. I was dejected because everything I saw on ShopMini and ECS said factory fogs already needed to be installed to do this, THEN I saw this on outmotoring:

"If you have a base Cooper without the Front Fog light option your MINI SHOULD be wired for them and the harness should be active and would require installing the single toggle and having the dealer activate the fog light feature via a computer reprogram."
SOOOOOO, has anyone without fogs from the factory done this? I'm going to do the OEM Xenon retrofit and was going to put LED's (from ECS) in the position lights, but I'd rather do this if I could...I really love the look and would like be able to run DRL's without having to run the Xenons constantly...

Got my LEDs delivered today by Amazon (
Amazon.com: Genuine OEM MINI Cooper Daytime Running LED Driving Fog Lights: Automotive Amazon.com: Genuine OEM MINI Cooper Daytime Running LED Driving Fog Lights: Automotive
) and I am still debating whether I go to Mini of San Antonio or find an independent shop here in Austin TX. Mini of San Antonio told me they already installed these on a Countryman but it will be a bit far for me to go there. Do you guys know any shop here in Austin who can install these? Thanks!

Also curious ? Was figuring on having to add the fog housing also ?

Somebody more authoritative should pop in here and respond but in the meantime it would be pretty easy to check for the fog light pigtails by removing the lower cover inside the front wheel well. If the wiring is there then the rest should be easy to source.

I may have to dive in there. Just for s&g's I asked the dealership if they had done any foglight retrofits and after a bit they got back to me a quoted a parts price of $529 and install of $250. Now that was for the halogen fogs, so adjust that accordingly, but it was an optimistic sign since I hadn't heard of many OEM retrofits...I was actually shocked that the install was that low. (They also quoted $250 for the Xenon install and code which is way more straightforward, so take the above with a grain of salt.)

Not quite. If you look at the pictures, they are similar but not the same. I think the DRL ring and fogs are LED but the upper portion looks to be still a regular bulb. Won't know until we see it in showrooms.

I ordered my DRL earlier this year and finally installed them in my CM today. I ended up removing the bumper--not as difficult as I thought. This forum post was extremely helpful. Thank you! I thought I could sneak my hand in but the windshield wiper fluid reservoir blocked me. Also, on the CM removing the headlights would not have provided sufficient access to the driver side fog light. Luckily the bumper is not attached to fluid reservoir. Removed the first three wheel well trim expanding rivet which I needed to gain access to the screw fastener holding the bumper on. I am glad I ordered replacement rivets #2 228 710 replacements before I started--it was difficult to find the plastic piece as I punched them out. As for the blue wire--since the CM is larger--I did not have to remove the windshield wiper cowl to access the firewall grommet. I am thrilled with how they look and how much brighter they are. Also, I was surprised on how light and cheap plastic the OEM fog lights, these feel solid and much.

Today I went in for brakes and asked service advisor again and they still have no idea these exist so I figure I'm on my own here trying to find out if it can be done. Was told multiple times that rear fogs could not be turned on 2012 but between Way and Helix they got it done. Just gotta find the work around.

Ok explain that for me, what am I looking for and where I'm totally inept but I am capable of learning .

.

My dealer in Kansas City turned on my rear fogs for $70. I just had to add the $10 switch. Your dealer sounds fishy

We still have them right here:

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/63122338554/

States on the parts diagram :

NATIONAL VERSION CANADA = No & NATIONAL VERSION JAPAN = No

I believe its because the DRL always stays on for Canada.

And I know that the Canadain models have some code for the DRL.

--------------------------------------------------------------

For people who cant use this the MINI factory DRL kit we have the Ziza position light Leds which is a good options .

I also posted in the thread :

I posted more info in this thread:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-w-o-fogs.html

Unless someone found a work around for people without the fog light option.

Thanks and hope that helps.

Just got my tracking number today! Going to wait a couple weeks probably to get them installed. Mini of Portland (oregon) quoted me ~$200 for the install. i'm on the fence on whether I should shop around or just have them do it. I just don't have the time to try and do it myself unfortunately :|
