Do Mini people still wave at each other??
Since starting my freshman year of college i've waved at 102 MINIs (yes i counted) and 20 of em go to my college. Only gotten 1 wave back. Orange, California needs to inform its MINI owners to wave!!
In Jersey's defense, they *have* had a bit on their minds lately, what with Sandy leaving people homeless who have still not yet found new homes, and now Funtown Pier is ashes. It's kinda been raining crap there lately.

This morning I passed two R53s on the same road within 2 min of each other. One was coming around a corner with a for sale sign, had his windows down, took a big long look at my mini, I gave him a nod and he returned it.
Then I passed chili red R53 with white bonnet stripes and a chrome hood scoop. He also had his windows down, so did I. Stuck my arm out and have a big wave. Got the same enthusiastic wave in return

We've had hit and miss but tonight I was driving in traffic and came in the opposite direction a black mate hard top (didn't have time to look at what model). He had is window open driving in the opposite direction where I was seating still with the top down. Looked at each-other quickly, smiled, and waved. Best one ever so far - totally genuine
I spotted a sweet slammed MCS yesterday in Wind Gap, PA. I'm pretty sure it was a R53, but I couldn't tell. I was lookin at the shiny rims and the fact that it had no ground clearance, haha. It was a younger kid like me driving too. I had my window up since it was cold here yesterday and I had the girlfriend with me, but I flashed him the highs hoping he would notice. But he didn't -_- I was very sad, and very jealous. I kinda wanna get lowering springs now...and I definitely need an exhaust. Stock is too quiet!
Waved at a Mini on the way to Cleveland yesterday. They didn't respond with a wave or even a nod.
Then my wife said to me 'You're driving my SUV, not your Mini. They are not looking for the secret handshake from someone driving a SUV".

Sounds like something I would do in my wife's Jaguar XF. I see you're from NE Ohio. I'm in Virginia near DC, but I'm originally from Lake County. My youngest daughter just graduated from Ohio State. Our family still resides on the North Coast near Fairport Harbor.
Congrats on the new Mini. I see the release date was 2 days ago. Hope they deliver it early or at least on time for you.
Yes, born and raised in Trumbull County, Ohio. About 65 miles from Cleveland. We get the lake effect snow that you are probably missing in sunny Florida.
You will have to let me know how your roaster drives. I'm thinking of selling my mini R57 next year and getting a nonS Roadster. I drive way too many mile to trust a turbo for going to work (25K + a year) Do they make NonS Roadsters?

Did a couple of tail light flashes to a roadster behind me and I think I saw a headlight flash this morning. Oddly , behind the roadster was another clubman who passed me , I waved , he did not.
Was in Charleston this weekend and from leaving Savannah to arriving back, I flashed and waved at many many Mini's (we stopped counting at 100!!!). NONE waved back, including all of the ones we went by on Charleston's narrow downtown roads. Sorry guys, the Wave is a thing of the past...

I am encouraged by the number of you Motor Heads out there who wave at fellow Mini maniacs. In my wonderings' I wave to as Mini Drivers' I see. Nothing exaggerated just, a simple quarter wave. The response I get is certainly varied with mostly older dudes waving back. Women tend to ignore the gesture perhaps because they might be creeped out by some dude with slightly grey hair waving to them.
For me, passing a friendly wave along is like spreading the "good-word". I am still a believer their may be one driver out there who might be having a not-so-good day but, all that can be turned around with a simple wave. The best part is, it doesn't cost a dime!
Happy Motoring!

Waving is not quite dead. I was the passenger in my husband's new Countryman two days ago, and surprisingly a lady in a Pepper White Cooper waved. Luckily he waved back in time, and we were very pleased.
I have a 06 MCS (waiting on my new Paceman to cross the pond), and I like many others here have seen the decline in the number of motorers saying hello, but what can you do except "keep pluckin' that chicken"!
