Saw an R53 that came up right behind me on the FWY. It was an older gentlemen and he did give me a salute. I gave a wave back!

I was leaving my complex today when a Chili red R53 with flame stripes started to drive by. It caught my eye, and the driver looked at me, flashed a smile and gave me the biggest wave. I waved back. That's the first time in about a month a fellow MINI has shown me love... and I initiate a lot of times.

I just drove from Carson City Nevada up to Spokane Washington and saw a few Mini's that did wave. The best one was a Mini that passed me and as they did both driver and passenger did the "Queen" type wave but never took their eyes off the road ahead of them.

Well at least they waved; not sure if they saw me wave back ? ? ?

I am noticing that quite a few of the newer MINIs have dark tinted windows, and it's hard to see if they are waving or not!
I always wave anyway. spread the joy.

within the first full day after reciept of my new '11 Cooper a few weeks ago, I got 2 full-on waves, one nod/raised finger and a 2 mile uphill twisties "race" with a PW MCS. Got a honk as we topped out and went our separate ways. fwiw, he wasn't able to drop me.

only gotten two waves/nods since then tho.

I absolutely wave. Why not? MINIs are delightful to drive and bring a smile to your face anyway, so why not share the fun? If a wave isn't returned, why, to be silly, I might even consider pulling alongside and be even more enthusiastic about it! :-) Although I haven't yet explored that tactic, admittedly, it could backfire as the recipient may just think you are a complete lunatic and as a result be inspired to make an emergency manuever to avoid you and any eye contact at all costs out of primal fear of being caught up in someone else's haphazard uninvited lunatic joy :-) I imagine those who don't wave probably purchased the MINI for other reasons than those MINI motoring enthusiasts (as here) that likely did more out of passion than just practicality. Or, the wave-challenged are too deeply distracted with other unimportant issues than to just sit back, relax, have a Snapple and catch a mellow, and enjoy the drive wherever they're going. Be bold. Wave on brave souls!

Plenty of MINIs in the Baltimore area. I always wave when I see them but traffic around here makes it difficult to notice. Lots of two lane one-way roads in the city so I always end up next to or behind/in front of another MINI. Most two-way roads have a huge median in the middle so cars going in the other direction are too far away to notice my wave!

No return waves

Owned my Cooper for about 4 months now, been waving at numerous Minis, and not once got a return wave. Yesterday was the best. A guy looked at me like I was breaking the law, when I gave him a smile and wave. I always get return waves when driving my C6...

I see MINIs all the time around here, but they hardly EVER return (or initiate) waves.

reddbettie, your absolutely right. There are a lot of MINI's in Baltimore, but the roads around here make it kinda hard to notice other MINI's. Keep up the waving!

I was driving next to a GP MINI today (albeit he was on the cell phone) but the driver didn't even look over as we sat next to each other at a redlight :(

Ppl are too "Drive with horse blinders on", that I think Im going to just stare at them and then slowly turn my head to the road from now on. This will only work if they decide to glance over.

Contrary to the "New Englanders are standoffish" stereotype I'm getting a pretty good return on waves. More often than not I initiate and about half the time we see a return wave (sometimes the other MINI has tinted windows and it's hard to tell).

Was driving up in Ontario and saw lots of Smart Cars, Fiat 500s, and MINIs. Got some return waves there as well.

My wife forgot she was in the other car and waved at a Mini anyway -- and got a wave back.

But she's a lot better looking than me.
