Actually driving a bus is easier than driving my MINI. Just when I'm in my bus I always end up jamming my left foot into the ground looking for a non-existent clutch pedal

imagine, your feet are 3 feet above the pavement, you are perched high above the other traffic on the road. Your mirrors (of which there are seven) show you almost everything around your vehicle and are all almost 6" x 12". The high visibility that I have when driving the bus makes it so much easier to keep an eye on everything that is happening on the road. Sure I swing my turns a little (lot) wider in the bus than I have to in my MINI but it's just easier. Then again, I have been driving a school bus for going on eight years now so I guess that I'm just accustomed to it.

Anyway, I'm heading out now, I'll be the one waving at all the other MINI drivers. :D

I commute in mine too. It is like playing a video game. Other bigger vehicles struggle to keep up but they almost always fall back because I can get through traffic quicker and 5th gear is so low that I have really good highway passing power.

I must say that I've become accustomed to people not waving here in ATL. However, yesterday I got a honk from a passing Pepper White MC on I-20.

Thanks!

Keep it going. If enough people wave / flash / honk, the rest might catch-on.

Passed a mini, yesterday, waved, but she couldn't wave if wanted to. Had one hand on the wheel, the other had her cell phone pressed to her ear...erg ...get Bluetooth, already!

I just bought a 2006 Mini Cooper S on Monday in the Upstate of SC while visiting family. I've always wanted one- my name is even Cooper. First Mini I saw got me a wave when was pretty sweet. Since I got back down to the beach where I live, however, I'm getting nothing!

As for the person who always parks next to Minis, I've been doing the same with one at work.

Haha had the same experience this morning I had 2 Challengers (WOW!) at the same time and a Mustang box me in and start messing with me this morning on the way to work. So I played along with them and they could not keep up in the morning commute with all the traffic when all done 2 of 3 gave me a thumbs up as I turned off to go to work. well done MINI!

I've been waving at the same mini for the last 3 months and finally this morning he gave in and waved and grinned. Guess it was like with my wife I finally wore him down and he gave in.

Too much fun!

Pulled out of the neighborhood this morning and there was a Saab in the far lane (4 lane hwy with center suicide lane), so I make it my goal to match it's speed before it got to me. Saab owner then wants to play when we hit the interstate by trying to keep up with me... but cop getting on at the next exit ruined our fun.

And, apparently in CHS, Starbucks is the MCS hangout. I made number 3 in the lot.

I've been getting a good amount of waves back, though this one lady I pass many times a week refuses to wave but I'm not giving up. One day she'll give in and wave

MINI Waving

I've noticed less and less people waving back whick makes me sad. Some people even look mad that I waved at them! What's up with that and where has the MINI spirit gone??

Dealers have the responsibility to educate customers about the wave and the flash. They are falling down on their jobs!

My pet theory apportions some blame to the used car market, as opposed to the dealers.

As more and more MINIs change hands and enter the used car market the more likely it is that the used car buyer won't learn of the MINI wave tradition (which often comes from the packet new owners get from MINI).

I try to, but living in NY makes it a somewhat pointless feat, as most people with MINI's here just "drive" the car. It's just going to get worse. I fear waving is nearly done.

In CT you have to be very careful with the flash the Gang Mentality excepts this as a challenge from another Gang

Wasn't this debunked a long time ago?

Not saying it doesn't happen but...I've never heard of it happening personally.
