I never ever get waves back here in Hawaii... :( I got one once near the dealership though.

I still wave to all Mini's I see, and probably get a return wave 75% of the time.

The ones who wave are the BEST MINI owners but I will give the benefit of the doubt to the ones who don't

I really want to wave, but no one driving a Mini looks at the driver of an Elantra except to as they blow past.

Dumb question, the "wave", is there a special wave gesture? Or just a wave?

I usually throw a peace sign with both hands on the wheel while driving, and a thumbs up if I pull up next to one at a light. My wife does a traditional wave which increases in side-to-side frequency in proportion to how cool the Mini looks.

Nah, just any acknowledgement that suits your personality. One finger (not middle) lift off the wheel, thumbs up, wave, whatever...peace sign..etc..

By traditional wave, it that how queen Elizabeth does it? Kind of rotating her wrist with her open plam towards the public?

Me? If the window is down, I stick my arm out and wave wildly up and down.

That gets their attention!

..lol..just picturing that put a smile on my face today

Got a wave back from a lady in a sparkling silver justa when I was looking for my (isolated end parking spot) at the local grocery store yesterday.

..even as she was chatting away on the phone...

To wave or not to wave

Sometimes I have to drive my Chevy Astro when hauling stuff or more than two people.

( I wouldn't put anyone I wanted to keep as a friend in the back seat of my cabrio.)
Sometimes I forget and wave as these times and get a strange look.

I have decided that I don't care what I am driving, I am going to wave.

I try to wave at other MINIs when I see them, nobody has waved back yet and I've had my car since March :(

Somebody waved to me once but I didn't notice until it was too late! :(

I'll keep waving though!

Like I mentioned earlier, that is pretty much the traditional way to wave to other motorists here in Miami.

I traded my MINI away about a year ago (long story, different thread). Anyway, today I participated in the MINI rocks the rivals event in Cincinnati. I test drove a Countryman and drove by 2 other MINIs. I waved, but they didn't. I figured they were rookies and didn't know any better! When I had my original MINI, people waved at me about 90% of the time!
