Hey, watch the age cracks! I'm one of the grandfather types and I always wave and I've even taught my granddaughter to wave so that I can pass on the MINI traditions!

I rode next to one guy this morning long enough not to be just traffic, sorta like and uncomfortably long handshake that you dont know when to pull away from lol and the dude refused to even look over to see why there would be a car, let alone a mini next to him. so i lingered a bit longer just for fun!! come on non wavers out there, loosen up!! life's too short not to say hi and be happy!!

Same thing happened to me this weekend in Charlotte. I was driving through road construction and a vert pulled up beside me and the guy wouldn't even look over. I know he's an enthusiast because he had several mods, I was like wth???? not even an acknowledgement?? I keep waving though.......

So far I'm about 0 for 5 in Memphis. I had considerably more luck back in Knoxville. I guess these big city folks don't have time to wave!

I'm getting *tons* of waves the past couple days. Of course, being at MITM, with a high concentration of MINI enthusiasts driving around helps a bit....

Me too!
I was waiting for the traffic light in the morning traffic and saw a silver mini in front of me and I thought they wouldn't be able to see me but then I saw a hand waving tirelessly from the rear window. It made my day. This is becoming the major motivation for me to get up every morning to go to work now.
On another day, I was having a little fun with a blue Mini driven by a hawttie! We didn't wave but we looked at each other while we were passing each other every time. So much fun but I had to take an early exist...She has a vanity plate called Mali and hope to see her again on the Mass Pike soon!

I live in LA and Mini's are a dime a dozen around here. My block alone has about 10 Mini's on it. There is a standard R56 that lives by my house and I always try to park near his car, mainly because I think it's cool to see two Mini's parked side-by-side. He left me a note telling me to stop parking near him. I left him a note saying that he was a boring Mini owner for not enjoying seeing another Mini parked next to his car first thing in the morning. I never got a note back. Whatever, DGAF.

He doesn't deserve to be a Mini driver. Period

Wow that is so mean. What kind of person doesn't think it's cute to see two mini's parked next to each other?? I just LOVE coming back to my car to find another Mini parked next to me. Once it was even another pepper white!

I try so few mini's around here and as stated in another post the culture has thinned out alot of people driving mini's see it only as a car and not an expression of themselves so sad.

Coming out of a gas station in Fremont, CA, got a wave by a passing (green, I think) Mini. But there was also a CM that rolled through the lot that didn't bother to look up.

I have only had my Mini for a week, but I have gotten and given about 6 waves so far! I love it. I'll always be a waver.

Not really a wave story, but one that put me in a good mood with the probs I've been having with my Mini.

Yesterday evening my fiance and I were heading to our dance classes (trying to get ready for the wedding) I get stuck at a light and start fiddling with something. all of a sudden a car goes thru the intersection in front of me and someone yells out "Nice Mini Coop!" I yell back "thanks", but i dont think they heard me. I didn't see the car fully as I was looking down, but when my light turned green i started accelerating, BOV chirps and then some guy taps his horn, assuming it was the same guy, i wave out the window and then i get a double horn in response. Was nice because even though my Mini isn't feeling well atm, at least she is still thought of as beautiful :D

Hi All! My mini is in production right now but when I get her on the road I plan to be a waving fool! It's all in good fun! Life is too short! Who cares if they don't wave back? Spread positive MINI vibes!

When I first got my Mini, I got about 1 out of 4 people waving back. Now, a year and a half later I get about 3 out of 4 people waving back. I think I have waved at the same people so many times that they now return the wave!

I am currently driving a dealer's loaner (my 2012 arrived, but is plagued with dreaded JCW tuning kit issues).

Naturally since this is my first time driving a MINI, I've been eager to brush up on my waving techniques. To my dismay, I have yet to encounter another MINI to practice with.

However this past Saturday, I thought it was funny because as I approached my neighborhood, a lady in a behemoth of a red Suburban was next to me and started waving at me like crazy! Not exactly how I pictured my first waving experience, but hey, you gotta start somewhere!

Jon

I'm happy to say today was a very good day for getting return-waves. I had to get on the road super early for a medical appointment (although not on any twisties), it was a beautiful (and finally COOL!) sunny morning, I was drinking a lovely cuppa joe, and I got at least four return-waves!

not in my neighborhood. they've been popping up faster than rabbits in my area and not a soul waves back. i get more waves back when i randomly wave at non minis. im done initiating the wave unless i can see by the car that they're somewhat MINI at heart. on the otherhand, when i head back to seattle i am for sure going to keep the wave because they wave back.
