Well it did not all happen today, but the culmination of 3 months planning and work ended today.

I had an RMW Dominator Cam installed, my AquaMist Water/Meth kit installed and dialed in, and finally Dyno'ed and tuned:

Sure wish I could do this stuff to d'MINI. Just praying for spring. Really...It's so depressing every stinking day in snow and crap and a high of 9 or 10. Wohoo, today was 12! Suppposed to be 40 by Wednesday. At least I'll give her a well needed full wash with undercarrage to get road salt off the Blue Meanie. Crappy Nebraska winter!
My oil level is great, but the anti-freeze level was nearly dry this morning, so added some up to the level. I re-check tomorrow morning.

What else do I pay attention to in cold weather you MINI experts? It's running fine and want to keep it that way.
Something is dripping in the driveway. The oil level is good, so perhaps the coolant level suggests something to look at???? It's dark like old oil, so I'm confused. Help?

 

Well last night, I hard wired my Escort Max, super easy and it's hard to see from outside.

 

Tire pressure...you lose air pressure as the temperature drops

 

This actually went over a few days, but I painted the stock wheels semi-gloss black, plastidipped the grille and hood scoop black, painted the gas cap semi-gloss black, and painted the mirror caps red. Also did the "Joey mod" to the headlights.

I am not satisfied with the quality of the grille and hood scoop, so I'm going to redo them with the black paint instead of plastidip. Will also be doing that lower grille as well. I think the headlight trim being black might be too much black, so I'll probably be taking the side-skirts and headlight trim in to get painted pepper white.

Also installed my Alta intake today, will be installing my new tensioner and 15% pulley in a couple days as well. I did the mirror caps red as an accent to match the red wheels that I want to do as well. I want to get the OZ Allegerita wheels in red, but I think it's going to probably be a year or more before I can get them. I'm debating painting my stock wheels red, but I'm not sure if it will be too much red since the spokes are so thick.

Today I installed the complete JCW exhaust line, im thrill with the new roar! I drove thru a tunnel music-off-windows-down-head-outside to enjoy the new music! hahaha

 

Tiny Mini thing. Put on chrome skeleton head tire valve heads on. Heck, I have to start somewhere! Looking forward to above freezing temps at week's end to give her a wash! Salt and crap all over the Blu Meanie :>(

 

Be careful about putting metal tire valve caps on the TPMS valve stems, they weld themselves onto the stem. Plastic caps are OK.

Hi...
Thermostats are a common problem for this year of MINI, and can leak. Possible water pump problem.
Dark Oil leak could be the passenger side engine mount.

Gave my MINI a bath..and found a very long scratch on my passenger door on the clear coat. Maybe from road debris? It's over a foot long. It starts very light about 6 inches after the side mirror then gets kind of deep and ends just before the door handle. I tried Griots polish #1 twice, but it seems like it's too deep to fix it. Does anyone know of a better idea? It's hard to see from about 4 feet away looking directly at it, but very easy to feel from touching it. I appreciate any useful tips you guys can give me!

There is a lubricant available that will prevent "welding". Also, some use vasoline.

 

I've had pretty good success with Mequiar's ScratchX 2.0.

Don't expect results the first try though. It may and should take several attempts so you don't go too deep.

Follow with the Mequiar's Ultimate Compound then wax.

If you have or can get a DA polisher, use it with the appropriate pads.

 

Good to know. How long does it take for this reaction? It's only been 2 days in very cold weather. I'll grab something different today, I hope!
