I also wiped my BMW Standard Tools completely and started over with version 2.10. Same results. I've followed the guide to the letter and successfully coded other modules. Should I be looking for older daten files maybe?
I've never had problems with using the newest data on cars with older software. What is the error you are getting when writing back to the FRM?

Usually, if you can read the module, then the data is good, otherwise you'd get an error from NCSExpert saying it doesn't recognize the coding index on the module.

I made a thread about it in this sub-forum. Here's the error when I try to code to FRM after changing the double hazards option:

ERROR! Modul: CBD_PROC.C, ProcNr: 02, LineNr: 10, ErrorNr: 40.
00340C'01,OFFSET_ADC_SNU (1125d, 465h)

ERROR! Modul: CDH.C, Proc: CDHGetNettoDataFromCbd, LineNr: 01, ErrorNr: 1043
COAPI-1043: error during processing CBD-file
FRM3_R56.C35

>> ERROR! Modul: COAPI2.CPP, Proc: coapiRunCabd, LineNr: 06, ErrorNr: 1043

I recommend you switch to BMW Standard Tools 2.12, which come with EDIABAS 7.3. Then make sure you update the ECU folder in the EDIABAS directory with the ECUs from your DATEN directory. Your car is relatively new so I also recommend to go to v50+ Datens...

I made an attempt to install 2.12, but I think I screwed it up somehow because I'm back to a best error. Do you happen to have a source for 2.12? I'm not sure mine is working properly.

That is normal. After you install standard tools you need to reinstall INPA, the ECU and the DATEN files.

i'm trying do activate DRL's on halogen (yes, not turn off, but turn on )
i did some research, try a few options, but no success.

Change FRM like this:
TAGFAHRLICHT_ECE
Aktiv

VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL
DRL_S

DRL_TFL_SML
Aktiv

And when i read back module (after coding), it's reverted to original state :(

Any ideas? Anyone try this before?

Thanks

if the value resets back to the original after you code it, make sure you loaded the right profile when you started up NCSExpert (I forget what it was called, maybe FSW PSW Man or something?). An incorrect mode will tend to have that result.

Now that you mention... i use only two profiles, "expertmodus" (or something like that :D ) and "Revtor's NCS Expert Profile ". And i may i've choosed "Expertmodus" instead of Revtor's profile.
I'll try again later.

Thanks!

You'll need to use Revtor's profile to make any changes. The expert mode profile is used for making vehicle order changes if I remember correctly.

If you're in the US, I think it's a setting in the OBC, not a coding problem.

Try adding the "Canadian" line in. Search which line, I recall a fellow from Halifax removing his drl by removing the Canadian text

No, i'm in Europe. I check OBC after every coding and didn't find any option to turn on/off DRL.

You mean add the canada region code to VO?
That idea crossed my mind, but i'm not sure what else will be changed.

Thank you.

Adding the bluetooth and CD changer options

How do I add the bluetooth and CD changer options to the R56 (boost radio)?
I've went through the NCS instructions but didn't figure it out (it isn't written anywhere).

51.2.

You can download it in the first post in the countryman coding thread.

Killer, thanks so much. Got the speedo compensation disabled and window close by remote enabled tonight! Had an error trying to switch to FRM but I'm pretty sure my software is just a little too old. I'll try a newer version tomorrow.

I would un-install then reinstall everything. You should be able to use one of these:

http://nutsofamily.com/?page_id=2

or

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...beginners.html

or maybe even the R60 package (and DATENS):

What do you prefer?
In the same computer I have installed the Esys for my F30, any problem to uninstall only the BMW TOOL?
Thanks.

Information

The second link I tried but still with error...When I tried to code the car with it I got fault chassi...so I update the Daten for 51.2 (I think) and fix this error but continue with error of BEST VERSION, so with 51.2 I just can code some modules as KOMBI and not FRM...

I have a quick favor to ask. I'm trying to figure out the differences between the FSW_PSW.TRC after choosing CAS or FRM from the choose ECU dialog box.

In NCS Expert:

F2 CHASSIS -> R56 -> F1 VIN/ZCS/FA -> F3 ZCS/FA f. ECU

then first choose either CAS. At this point, I think a FSW_PSW.TRC file is generated in the in the C:\ncsexper\work directory. Save this somewhere else, this is what I want to compare with the file that's created when you choose FRM.

Some of the differences I'm seeing are:

CAS version:
FZG_RADSTAND
wert_16

FRM version:
FZG_RADSTAND
wert_18

Could someone take a look at their FSW_PSW.TRCs and let me know if you see similar differences?

Thanks!!

The CAS and FRM trc files are going to be different. What your doing is reading the vehicle order (FA). The vehicle order is stored in both the CAS and FRM modules.
