I believe that this is the proper way to default a module:
Load Profile
F1
F3
Select R56
Select CAS
F6
F4
Select Module
F2
Select SG_CODIEREN
F3
If you have a .MAN file in your work folder make sure that it is empty.

You guys need BMW Standard Tools 2.12 in order to use a 64bit OS.
You can follow a lot of the same tutorials used by the BMW guys, you'll just load the R5x data instead of the E8x data when setting it up. Otherwise, everything else is exactly the same.
If you guys upgrade to BMW Standard Tools 2.12 w/EDIABAS 7.3.0, you can even use the new Rheingold ISTA software from BMW to perform dealership level diagnostics (without screwing around with INPA) using your K+DCAN cables.

BMWCoding.com is another good reference, including a section just for Mini coding.
There's absolutely no difference on coding setups between BMW and Mini, with the exception you load R5x data instead of Exx data into NCSExpert. They are both built on the same electronics platform and share 98% of modules.
You can even load all chassis into NCSExpert without a problem. I do it myself since I code my parents Mini's and my BMW all the time.
A good tool to use is the BMW Coding Tool - makes it easy to load in data for NCSExpert and WinKFP (if you want to try flashing ECUs with updated software). Works for Mini just as well as BMW.
Pretty much, E90post.com has a pretty good coding section along with tutorials on setting up Standard Tools 2.12, loading the NCS data for coding, etc.

Before too long you guys will have to start learning E-Sys for the F56 when they start rolling out. Completely different electronics platform and software for coding. Based on the BMW F-series platform (also known as BN2020).
Let me know if you need any help, I can usually setup a coding machine in about an hour now.
Works under both, I use Windows 7 64bit and everything works just fine.

is it possble to change the VIN number in the SZL module with ncsexpert?
i am trying to retrofit my car for cruise control. i have purchased the mfsw buttons for the steering wheel, and have purchased a used SZL module. so i am going to need to change the VIN number in the module to get it to work.
if it matters its an 08 MCS.
Thank you in advance

i was reading on the r60 forum and the OP post in his thread regarding to VIM (video in motion) enable. I updated the daten file to latest version 51.2 and i can see cic model int he r56 folder.
When i go to read and for some reason, i can't get the CIC module. Anyone have a clue on how to read the CIC module?

i used the guide on this thread and on the r60 thread for the update file. Also google and you will find some BMW forum that has intensive information on the update.
Has anyone coded the rear foglight on a Clubman before? Provided the switch is installed, which VO code is needed to be added to the string and then default the CAS and FRM modules based on the new VO string?
Unlike BMW's, the key does not pop out on the Mini's. You are correct in setting the code does work but the functionality does not.
It makes a clicking noise though so would it work in a comfort equipped mini?
Well I think I succeeded in wiping the Kombi module :-(
I backed up the trc file, saved it with a modification and flashed it as the man file. It accepted the coding, but I've got no center display (strange icon) and no gas guage.
I think I'm hosed, is this something the dealer can reflash?

Hi! Today I managed to do my first programming with NCS Expert! What a day!
Now to the problem, when trying chanfe the 2Rad module with R55_hifi to shut off the 100hz cut off.
When Im trying to read the module i get Error: COAPI-2020 no response from controlunit RAD2.
What should i do?
Tried google but couldnt find something for the mini.
Help please?

I have a quick easy question. For Daten 50.2, I downloaded the files from Megashare. There are 23 .rar zipped files. Do I need to extract the R56 files from all 23 or just the last one? Thank you in advance. I can't wait to start playing!

You have to connect to it via the MOST bus, which is the fibre optic bus in the vehicle. You need an ICOM or OPS for that.
Same way on the BMW models that use the 2RAD module as well.
Is it possible to have daten files that are too new? I'm trying to code my 2011 MCS FRM module and can't seem to get it working. I updated to EDIABAS 7.2.0 to solve the Faulty Best Version error, so now I can read the TRC file just fine. Once I go to write it back, I always get an error. I've tried v49.4 and v50.2 datens. I also wiped my BMW Standard Tools completely and started over with version 2.10. Same results. I've followed the guide to the letter and successfully coded other modules. Should I be looking for older daten files maybe?
