The actual hand off of Bob's car was tonight however Bob had a previous engagement so he could not go dyno. I know Dynolab has a discount for Thur. nights starting at 5pm.

Icarus is gone for a couple of weeks. Well, that's what Bob thought his car would be gone for at first too. Hurry back buddy!

The car is indeed in Atlanta..... there are a few small details to be cleared up not specifically related to the 62 but before we dyno we want it pretty buttoned up.... there has been about 3000 mi put on the kit and so far so good.... Dave is doing a fine job..... i know there are two cars getting fitted and more data shoulds be flowing..... I am in Minneapolis until Sunday afternoon.... Dave is coming to Atlanta on Friday to work out some details..... who knows we may have dyno numbers before I get home....... I will say that the car is pretty entertaining

The surprise is a new product in development and it is not my place to make the announcement...... I will say that it is different than anything we have seen on a Mini and holds great potential especially for those who want "track" performance....... I'm sorry I can't say more at this time.....

but thanks for asking

There's really nothing to see.

take a look under your hood now. Can you see much of the SC?

If you can't say anything, DONT! I know you are exited, but if you look back at some of the bigger exposions here (read never ending AGS biatch fest prior to release), it was all started by an exited fan letting the cat out of the bag about a product early on in development. I really do appreciate you desire to share, but it's my view that unless there is something concrete to report, there is little good that can come from early annoncements, and the potential for great harm, as you have effectivly shorted the ability of the real provider to manage expectation.....

Other than that, I'm all ears, when there's something of substance to report.

There is no mention of what it is..... so there can be no speculation as to how the design will perform.....

however, point noted

The surprise is an exhaust system

My car was fitted with a prototype of a new exhaust sytem to compliment the 62.... It was developed with Will of M7 and has a interesting configuration...... it is single sided with some technologies that are unique and need to be kept in house for now..... Like all new products it is a prototype and being evaluated..... there are no numbers or data but it is not done. I spoke with Dave this morning and he is busy doing 62 cars... now there are three in Greenville.... the exhaust is a work in progress and not ready to talk about........ on my car it is louder than a Milltek with a header but without a header it is very civil..... it sounds very strong and has a great "track" like note.........the design is not in any way set so literally anything and everything might change..... It is interesting to see two guys like Will and Dave go at these projects.... there is really nothing more to report and no ETA as to when it will be completed and ready for sale..... I only am posting so as to stop the "tease" ..... there you have it and exhaust in development but a long way from done......that is the "surprise"...... the working title is the "62 exhaust"

Exactly... I'm not bumpin' anyone here. I don't know about everyone here, but I don't like be teased with "suprise" and then not have the thing come out for a year. IE the Webb Exhaust system. Granted I have a prototype... but if I was still waiting for one I'd be pretty p!ssed, considering everyone knew all about it back around this time last year, and it is yet to be released. Now this 62 project is another story. Something big like this is good for the "S" community, and SHOULD be posted about. To me though, I feel like I am a nobody when something is posted about a product that someone is testing, that no one else can have and they themselves can't talk about, when I have not exactly been stingy with NAM vendors. To me posting something about a suprise, and then saying something like "I can't talk about it", is pretty stupid and pointless. Creating hype is one thing, but that doesn't fall under that category, because until a couple posts ago nobody knew what the hell the "suprise" was.

Bob, please don't take what I have said personally, because you're a great guy and have done alot for the tuning community, and you really aren't the one(s) that normally does it. I for one can't wait to hear your reactions and thoughts about it when you have time to give them, because I know how enthused & particular you are about your car and how it performs.

I cannot wait for all this stuff to be on the market. I once again can easily see dropping another a$$load of money in the near future. Damn you creative and out of the box thinkers!

One phrase, describes my feelings toward all of this: "I can't wait"

We seem to be saying that alot lately.

Mikey

Um yeah, you see there's this really cool product coming out from M7 featuring a more powerful supercharger. The package is still being developed and there is no solid timeline on the announcement when it's ready for sale so the words for the day (and the next day and the next day and the ...) are patience & discretion. In the end it's all good.

DDM Update

Just wanted to catch everyone up to date on the progress of the M62 kit. We have moved into the Beta testing phase of the M62 kit and are installing M62's on several cars over the coming weeks and will be getting more test miles on the M62 kit. Between both prototype kits we have run, we now have close to 8000 miles logged on the kits.

I can not thank Bob enough for all of the testing he has allowed me to do on his car and he is a real asset to the MINI community.

Over the past few weeks we have been learning a lot about what works well with the M62 and what does not. Like Bob said in an earlier post, we have been working on a prototype exhaust at the same time, and that is about all I can say about it right now.

I appreciate everyone being patient with the development of the kit, everyone involves wants to make sure that the M62 kit will have great drivability and reliability for everyone that installs one, and that takes a little time to get right. I am certainly not gong to rush a product to market that I am not confident in.

Also after testing on Bob's car the last couple days we have seen the need for another product for the MINI which we will be developing once the Beta testers for the M62 have their cars.

Lots of projects in the works, and lots of late nights.
Look for another update soon.

Take Care,
Dave
