Drivetrain Invidia Q300 R56 exhaust
Thumper and Rovy,
I also would like to know your thoughts on intalling aftermarket parts on your car when the warranty is still valid. I know that it could be risky, since if anything goes wrong, they would pin it on you for installing aftermarket parts if it can be directly related, but have any of you installed parts with the warrranty still good?
The reason I ask is because I just got in the mail from Mini that on all 07's, 08's, and 09's that the fuel pump could possibly go bad, so they are warrantying all those years for 10 years or 120,000 miles and even if you sell the car the warranty can transfer to the new owner. So if installing an aftermarket part and something goes wrong, I don't know what would be becoming on my original warranty and the fuel pump warranty when the pump could be directly related to the exhaust. Even though the pump is not mechancially connected to the exhaust, they could pin it on me anyway. What are both your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

You wont have trouble with stuff like an exhaust. My dealer knows about all my mods, including my tune and doesn't bother them one bit.
Yeah catback exhausts are allowed under warranty from what i understand. As long as it isn't in the way when they need to do maintence i belive its fine unless they figure the problem is related to it then you'd have to pay for the part.
Cheers

If you actually read the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act The dealer has to PROVE that the aftermarket part, or thing you did CAUSED the failure. Not just say so, they have to PROVE it. It's not so hard with engine tuning and turbos, but relating a cat back exhaust to a HPFP failure is a bit of a stretch.
Here you go:
Probably sounds waaaay good in person...and even more so if you are tuned. My Invidia with stock DP and the tune, sounds similar in volume to this one with a catless dp in the vid...with a tad less snarl.

Thanks for the video thumper and i agree that this exhaust does sound good. Its very deep sti'ish. haha love it
Your car sounds great. I've got the Riss catless/coated dp on mine running the stock exhaust STILL!! The sound is so raspy though, i need a new exhaust asap. Its between the q300 and the jcw exhaust that Gilboyto is selling in the marketplace.
I'd love my car sound more STi-ish, but i've also heard the jcw with my exact dp and it sounds down right mean!!
This is definitely a good predicament i've found myself in lol
Thanks guys

Thumper,
This extra vid was nice, but could you post another vid with the camera following you on a pass by where you go longer, so that I can hear it in higher gears as you go farther away. If that makes sense. Thanks.

Thumper,
damn, I feel stupid, I obviously cant read, that MCS in the Vid is not yours, correct? You are just showing us this video as this MCS has a catless dp and your has the Q300 and a tune, correct?
Any if you could post a clip of your car that would be cool. Thanks again.

Rmw Tune
Thumper,
Thanks for the clip it was awesome to here what yours sounds like. Definitely like the burble. It sound great overall. For your RMW Tune, did you take it to Revolution MINI to get it done or did you go somewhere else to get it done. I live in MD and going to CA would be out of the question for me. Our there other places preferably in MD, VA, or PA where somebody does an RMW Tune. TTUL.

Its quite easy now days to get a tune. All you need is a computer, internet and a mailing address to send you your hardware.
Hello, I'm new here and I just got my 2010 mini r56, I ordered the ddmworks street intake and I'm waiting for it so I can install it....I also want to change the stock exhaust and I was searching I found this about the invidia exhaust and I think it's great that you actually dont have to cut anything, since the car is new and I wouldn't like to do that, but I have some questions and I hope someone can help me,
First I want to know if it is really a bolt on system and if it will fit a 2010 mini cooper s?? Any suggestions?
Do you really recommend this exhaust? I really dont know what to do, any help or comments will be nice, thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick answer thumper,
I'm really considering getting this exhaust, have you heard anything about the ddmworks race exhaust?? I read is a bolt on system also, what do you think about it?
Have you have any experiences with that exhaust??

I've never heard or seen one in person...there are youtube clips though. Sounds like any other exhaust. The thing that I like about the Invidia is it has this level of deepness that I do not hear in any of the other exhausts.

I just installed this exhaust kit on my 2010 S about 2 months ago. It bolts right up to the stock exhaust with zero issue's. Its quality is as good as the Borla kit. While not quite as loud as the Borla , the tips are equal in size. Many complain about the kit being to loud. For the life of me I can't explain that. Because its actually quite tame compared to most performnce sounding exhaust notes. I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it.
I forget who has one around here...countryboyshane I think?

If i were to do it all again, i would just get something custom built with mandrel bends and have the parts welded up at a hot rod shop for a good price and preferably 2.5" piping to lighten the car up a bit. Searching for the right exhaust can get a little too complicated in the R56 world. However, a lot of people seem to be really happy with Invidia.
Yes I have a DDMWorks with a Riss catless downpipe. Pretty wicked sound at wide open throttle under full load. Can't really compare apples to apples because of the downpipe. The reason I got it was because i needed something immediately to fit to my R56 after receiving the biggest piece of crap exhaust known to man at that time, the Riss Racing catback. That load of garbage was returned immediately with refund
Chad at Detroit Tuned knew this one fit well under the car and was built great so i took his word for it. I can't comment how it fits to the OEM downpipe but Chad has said that it's one of the only exhausts he will sell to a R56 owner besides Milltek.

Sure wish i got a refund for my riss exhaust!!
I'm also running the riss catless dp but on a stock exhaust. its pretty raspy but sounds nice a certain points in the rev range.
What would you recommend using for a custom exhaust?(resonator/muffler/tips)
Does the invidia exhaust with stock downpipe have the nice hum at the lower half of the rpms, not drone but just a good loud hum note. I live a mile from school and then theres campus traffic. The videos or my speakers don't do the videos justice.
I'd say so
