I would solve this problem by fully seating them and clamping down super hard, it would still pull apart from the engine movement. Then i ran 1cm spacers on the brace... worked but i was still unsatisfied. I then welded it all together and now no drone and no spacers.

In earlier posts (#'s 183 and 188) I detailed how to position the rear section elbow that is next to the center section and how to jack up on the joint so it lifts off the plate and the crank the clamp up really tight. Been running the last 8 months or so that way with no banging. I would not full seat the pipes. This leave plenty of adjustment for how far the pipes stick out the back and alignment of the pipe sections. With the clamps really tight, it will seal up nicely and stay in place.

I don't want to full seat because that's what I did in the beginning and the tips rub up against the bottom of the rear bumper. I really wanted to see if it was a variable in production (invidia or mini). Cause if everyone is fully seating and I can't, ill have to do something different.

I rotated the clamps so that the hourglass is at the bottom, it hasn't come loose since I did that. I'm going to try jacking it up next chance I get, probably in a week or two.

Thanks all.

Once it's sealed how ever which way you do it, it will kill drone and sound great!

Finally installed my Riss catless DP to go with my Invidia....

Far exceeded expectations....sounds absolutely wicked, its already turned a few heads this afternoon since I've installed it. It's LOUD.

Power wise its a huge difference too...more than I was expecting to be honest.

I'll make some videos tonight hopefully...

After reading this thread and nearly every other exhaust thread on NAM and M|U its near time to bite the bullet and go for it. Looks like I will have an Invidia via Way in the very near future.

here we go...finally threw together some crappy sound clips of the riss w/ invidia.

If you have good speakers, turn them up and turn up the bass

I really like how the Invidia fills out the entire exhaust valance. I wish my JCW "tips" had more girth.

that absolutely sounds awesome. It is really the best sounding system, and it sounds great when you are rocking JBL Pro speakers. Cannot wait to put my entire order in on Monday of next week.

As soon as I get it and install it I will post sound clips; somewhere, where there's no pigs.

*sigh*

looking for a place to get it welded. i'm tired of adjusting it. I tried it using the jack and it worked for 2 days. If any of you are in SoCal and can recommend a place, i'd love a pm. I'm finding prices ranging from $130 minimum to $30 shady "i can do it in 10 minutes"...

I currently have this exhaust waiting to get put on. I have sat here and read all 11 pages and have one question...

Are any of you still successfully keeping this exhaust in place with just the bolts and clamps? Or is welding the general concensus?

I've been almost a year with no problem. Plenty of pot holes and other shakers around here that would "adjust" it if it was going to. Give it a shot with the clamps. Just remember that the clamp should be placed at the end where the slots are. and tighten them tight. Also, that will give you the option to adjust it before welding it if that is needed. Once weld, forever stuck.

Thank you. If I do decide to get it welded, where are the weld spots? Midpipe to exhaust? I would think you wouldn't weld to the downpipe as then it's permanent...

Do you keep the clamps on when welded? In other words, clamp up as I want it positioned, take it down and then what? Weld around the clamp?

Also: do you mind explaining a little more what you mean by the clamps and slots?

Sorry, I'm not even in the same state as my car right now so can't look at it for reference.

Hmm, you'd leave the vband at the end of the downpipe alone, that one's fine.

Here's how they're put together, one pipe is expanded and a slot is cut. the other tube slips into the expanded pipe and the clamp goes around the end. When you tighten the clamp, it squeezes the the slotted portion tightening it around the inside pipe.

It'll make sense when you see it.

Ok so I have been looking through this thread and my head is spinning. I am trying to decide on an exhaust and well.... I can't haha. I have been watching videos on Borla, Supersprint, Alta, Invidia and so on. Was wondering if anyone had input on which of these would be best. The videos i have seen on the Borla and Supersprint seem to sound a little weak but idk if it the video quality or people not knowing how to record a good video IMOP. Would love some of your guys help/ input
