Quote: Racedeck or brand tiles ,

Would an all black floor be too dark, or go for dark silver instead? I've got white finished walls.

Would the black make stains more visible than dark silver (like dried water spots)?

Does the shipment come in small boxes (12"x12"x???)? or are they wide like that one photo from BoCRon which sorta looks pre-assembled (2x4 tiles?)
Racedeck comes 24X24 (4 tiles locked togther...see ameicoopers pics..)

Yep, getting those suckers apart is half the battle of installation. All in all, the racedeck flooring took me about 4 hours to install. It would have been a lot quicker though if I used them in the 24 x 24 configuration.

In case you missed the pic in the Extreme Checkerboard thread, here's how my floor turned out. These pics were taken at night. I'll get some better pics soon.

I still need to cut off those male connectors. Anybody have any ideas on the easiest way to snip them off ?

I just spent 5 minutes looking for your post/diagram... couldn't find it.

Hey... is it MY fault if your idea found it's way into my head subliminally ? Or that your idea matches my color scheme ??

And thanks... yep, I really like the way it turned out. Gives the garage an entirely new feel and look.

Thank you, Maybee !

Ha ! Hey... you see the 3 bottles from Griot's on the top shelf ? Do you think they'd be offended if they knew I have Prima Clarity in one of their bottles ?

Darn, I wanted to see that diagram to see just how close my floor is to copying your plan. Did you have three red tiles down the center, too ? That would definitely make me a copycat !

it was a jpg of a excel sheet i made and i tossed the excel sheet so
don't have it any more. i had 2 versions. first one was similar
to yours, the other one used 4 squares to make one square (ie larger
squares).

regardless, who copied who, it's a nice setup you got there!

Oh well, would have been interesting to see just how close our designs were in comparison. But no biggie... let's just say we both have impeccable taste, even if you displayed so first.

So, when are you putting your plan into action ? Now that you know what it'll look like when finished, you must be dying to get it done.

yah, ive been going back and forth when to hit the 'execute' button
to tell you the truth.

for me it will most likely occur when i sell one of my hobby cars and do
half the garage first. (the half without the car) then it's no stopping
from there...

Racedeck Floor Design
I was curious if everyone knew there is a floor lay out feature on the Racedeck web site. You don't need to use Excel or anything else (unless you want to).

I used Excel cuz it was easier for me since I had an extra corner area to tile and their designer didn't really allow for it; and that I could save it to my computer and enter notes into Excel, and that I could copy the excel sheets for various color schemes, and I could zoom, and....

I split them over my knee... that's how the vendor showed me. However, once they're on the ground, yes, there is some battle to get them apart, which I had to do.... I used the 'pull up while stepping down on the other piece' method. My major battle was with the last set of tiles, tight fit, hard to lock into place.

Yeah, my part-time helper on the project, the one who drives the PW MC, preferred the break-apart method. I told her it sounded like she was going to break one every time she did that and I didn't buy any "extras". I used my longest flat-tipped screwdriver and popped the connections apart. Took longer, but my heart rate was slower that way.

got one of these guys yesterday at sears.

it's the same unit as the Griot's one just red and $10 or so cheeper.

it has 2 switches and can select between bright and super bright modes.
i used my old wiper blade insert metal supports to make a handle so that
it is easy to pickup from the floor. my first project will be to touch up
the black trim under the aero bumper...got so many chips.
