Haha. I remeber OG'd runaway polishes. I confine mine to a big plastic tub so there will be no runners.

IMHO, Sears Craftsman brand would be good for the basics. Hand tools and storage, but anything that plugs in (saws, sanders, drills etc) save for an extra week or two and buy a better quality brand (Milwaukee, Porta Cable etc) Also watch their warranty on the torque wrenches, only 1 year

I've had 2 fail within the last 2 years, unfortuneatly it was just outside the warranty period.

thanks. yah, the detailing cart is for my detailing stuff and the
heavy duty cart is pretty much for everything else... can even
stack my PDR tools on it i suppose when i need it.

i dont know about the super slim ones on casters, but those wire
shelves target sells look fagile but are pretty solid. i got
one the other weekend on sale for 12.99 and it's been very good.

My only experience with Ryobi's was a few years ago and that was with a biscuit cutter. I wasn't impressed and ended taking it back, but also use them in a more harsh and demanding environment then most so I need a sturdy build that can take some rough handling.

Now, I've got a Milwaukee hammer drill that will knock you off a ladder, well at least it did me
I was power auguring through a 6x6 and two 2x14's when it hit a knot and the side handle caught me in the chin and there I went................... assoverteakettle

Safety tip: When using a hammer drill, leave the tea kettle on the ground!

I've always had good luck with Craftsman hand tools. I have a bad habit of mis-using tools (screwdrivers as pry bars, wrenches as hammers ) and every time I've taken a busted tool back to Sears - no problem getting a replacement.

smokey- i see. ive seen some impact cordless that can do over 300lbs/ft.

i tried the sporty's studbuddy shelves and i have to say these are quite
nice. i put 5qts of Mobil1 on it and no issues.

here's wat it looks like and it's $20 for 3. sporty's has super fast
service too... i give it a kenchan approval on both product and
service.

I'm in the market for a small demel tool. I have access to my wife's long pen type but I want to get a small cordless one that I can use inside the car. First off, I was never really fond of cordless cause you need to charge it first. Is there one I can use with cord and do cordless on demand?

Thats good to know about the toolsand torque wrench. I am going to invest in a good set some day. I should have purchaused them from Griots a few years back...life time calibration.

Also thanks for the advice on power tools. Those will come, right now B&D is working fine.

stuff at work was falling apart and was just powering through all the
obsticles. so didn't have the time. but still managed to make
sure i was having fun in my garage so that's pretty good, ey?

the drawer is friction type similar to Craftsman's "quiet glide."

actually, i found that the rail support was bent on mine today so
used my PDR tool to push it back straight. the glide feels even
smoother. this is a ball bearing drawer, not friction type.

i think i finally found a small workbench that will fit.
will check it out this weekend.

width 46inches, depth 22.5inches, 4 bearing drawers. 2inches
smaller than the smallest craftsman...and 2 drawers more.

im not going to use the back wall on the bench. i hate pegboards.
might use it somewhere else in the garage though.

and probably get one of these master assortment racks from griots with the
fasteners included.

And the best part for me is it's included in my NASA membership. Great resuorce, friends with one of the writers (He and his wife are DAMM members) Highly reccomended you check it out.

There garage bit gives a bunch of info on things to think about when planning what are must haves what are things you'd like butdown really need what are things to consider when planning. And these are garages that are made to function for race shops and the home mechanic.

IMHO, the Hitachi power tools are among the best. My husband and I have a huge assortment of power drills and drivers and both of us always reach for our Hitachi first. We have Black and Decker, Makita, Milwaukee,Craftsman and Dewalt.

There is a Fastenal place near here, and Lowes has good sales a few times a year.
The batteries seem to last better/longer than most and I like the torque.
