LeeL - Looks very nice. It will be interesting to see how the tiles hold up since this would offer more color choices and be pretty darn cheep.
Good work!

I am not sure what is crazier, having over $150 in antenna toppers to begin with or me spending time to install a piece of plywood behind the pegboard, paint it white, then cut the dowels and hot glue them in.

Looking back at phase one, is there anything you would have done different, some products you would have chosen differently? If so, just pack up whatever you dont want and sent it to me please.

Yes, El Kabong is dirty. Just back from Road Atlanta for the BMW DE. Hopefully I'll get around to washing him when it stops raining.

If I changed anything it would be to paint first, then do the floor. But I had to do the floor when it arrived since bad weather was coming and I didn't want to leave it out to get sleet/rain all over the boxes.
I really love the Storewall and if I was starting over, I might go up one more section to have a bit more hanging space up high, but since I still have a box left I may do that later.
Oh, and I may have to add to the lighting. I did change my old lights out from T12 to T8 fixtures which made a huge difference, but I would still like a bit more light. I hope I can get around to that this summer.

I took out the single bare 60 watt bulb the builder put in and installed a dual 105 watt high output 8 foot flourescent fixture, the kind you used to see in grocery stores. It is super bright, but it is about 6 feet fromt eh cabinets and I catch some shadows at teh worksurface. I think I need one more closer to the door to cut down the shadows. I think it was about $75 at Home Depot IIRC>

plus another 6 twisty types. the 33w are about 100w power incandescent.

so yah, my garage is very bright if i want it that way.

Great work you two

The only thing I've done recently is replaced the bulbs in all my 4' shop lights. Picked up a 10 pack of the Philips Alto Bulbs (green ends) 40w and 4200 lumens. I think I'll go back and pick up another couple shop lights to light up the back of the cars

Garage Updated Pictures

I wanted to share some updated pictures of my garage.

I recently added some more shelves (the ones above the air compressor) so I could have more space for all the various bottles of polish, etc.

The silver box between the tool box and air compressor is a dehumidifier.

This is the first winter with the epoxy floor. It is much easier to clean than the bare concrete. I vacuumed and mopped it every week or so to keep the melted snow/salt/etc. off the floor. When it was really bad, I had to go over it twice with the mop to get the dirt off the floor. Still, it held up pretty well and still looks like it did when it was first installed.

The heater kept the garage warm (70-72°) all winter, even when it was -15° outside. This is probably warmer than it really needed to be, but it was nice to get in a warm car to drive to work.

In case you were wondering about the lights, they are labeled F96T12/CW/HO-O. I have four fixtures each with two bulbs.

Next thing I want to do is put in a split AC unit above the TV Not sure if I want to get one with heat or not. I already have the heater shown, but the split system would use less electricity.

I was out there last night cleaning the Jeep after running it through a touchless wash. I had the Sebring and F1 race from Australia on the TV while I was working

Everyone's garages look fantastic! LeeL, I love your floor, especially the little nod to Mickey.
Morris9982, very tidy. Seeing yours makes me think I really need to look into putting a TV out in mine.
I'm still on the fence about the minisplit AC as well. Very costly, but wouldn't it be nice.....

As far as the ductless splits go. I found several that are nto that much money. They look like they can be installed by a homeowner as they are sealed and precharged and they use screw on connectors.

I found this place that sells a brand called Bon Aire and the have a 9000 btu for $700 plus shipping.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Bon-air-Ductless...QQcmdZViewItem

At 6.9 amps, it should cost 5 or 6 cents an hour to run. Since in practice, it will never run 100% on for hours on end it will be way less than that. Of course, it is a brand no one has ever heard of.

I have seen other sellers on ebay selling similar looking product as well for prices in that range. Probably a contract maker for several brands.

As far as lighting, I will have to check around to see what I got as I can't find it at Home Depot's site and since they use session IDs I can;t link it anyway. IT might have been teh 96 watt HO instead of 105. I did put the safety tubes over tehm though.

Just to revisit my past post... OSH had no-sales tax this past weekend, so I bought it. Wall mounted it, but had a leak when I used my own hose as the inlet. I figured out what was wrong and used their supplied hose for the inlet and my own hose for the outlet, and got a Y-split to use the sink and still be able to wash the car from the same tap. I drained out of the garage with the hose, but I also have a large bucket I could just dump afterwards if I don't uncoil the hose.

Photos will come sooner or later

Racedeck or brand tiles ,

Would an all black floor be too dark, or go for dark silver instead? I've got white finished walls.

Would the black make stains more visible than dark silver (like dried water spots)?

Does the shipment come in small boxes (12"x12"x???)? or are they wide like that one photo from BoCRon which sorta looks pre-assembled (2x4 tiles?)

black will literally suck light away from your garage. and it is high
maintenance as dust and dirt from tires (tire marks, foot prints, spider
foot prints, etc.) all leave a noticable mark. if you can, i would get
gray and even light beige.

The black does show the dust in the worst way, which is why I only did a small area with the black/white checkerboard. The shades of grey seem to be the most forgiving.

Ok guys, I need your help. I bought no more than a year ago two yes two 4000lb capacity racing jacks from Craftsman, the problem is that I have nto used them that much and they have already blown seals. Craftsman is not taking responsibility for this and I am surprised they are even putting their name on it. The price was decent at $150 for the jack and I loved it because it was lightweight low to the ground perfect for lowered cars. I need to know which jacks you are using that are in comparison to this one that I can get in replacment. Wow seriously dissapointed. :impatient

im using two harbor freight 3000lbs jacks. much lower profile than the craftsman.
$79.99 each. never broken a seal, but one of my earlier one had the front roller
bushing seized (got a new one under warranty). i give it a little bit of WD40 after
each use and its been great.

Racedeck

Here's my garage, before, during, and after installing RaceDeck

First up is what I found while cleaning out my garage... apparently I had some free loaders living in the garage...

I found a local RD dealer, so I picked up 4 full boxes and about another box of loose tiles... thats all I could fit.

Using Excel, I laid out the design.

Work in progress...

The vendor was nice enough to cut about 34 tiles. He's got a sheer contraption that makes clean cuts. I ended up using a hacksaw on the last 20 tiles to cut off the loops and 2 odd tiles.

Before and After...

Great looking floor. The yellow dotted line down the center is inspired, makes me wish for another garage to start on.......
I do have 12 acres here so it's always a possiblilty.
