i havemillipedes come into my garage off/on during the seasons and even
that can get pretty irritating...
thanks for the link. im checking it out right now.
humm... looked at their offering but none of them have the variable
tension arm like the one i got on the bench to hold the loose end of
the towel.
this is a must item on dispensers that you take out doors...

Cool article on a lift. Brings up a few items I would not thought about.

Ken, when are you getting your lift.

Ken, when are you getting your lift.
i dont plan on getting a lift any time soon. as you know im more of a
motoring kinda guy than a wrenchead.
i have 2 harbor freightracing jacks that i use, griot's jack stands, and a pair of ramp. does
it for me.
so i got three $5 coupons good for any purchase over $20 at sears
tomorrow and Sat. anything you recommend that you have in the
garage that is a 'must-have' item?
that you can get at
sears, that is...

Don't doubt that at all Ken.
I was bored and looking for some time to kill
i should do that maybe later on next winter when im pretty muchfilled the drawers.
be a nice winter weekend project. was over there at sears during lunch (yah, i had to get out of the office),
but not too much excitement. i measured the distance between the
drawer and the posts on my workbench and only have 23+inches...so i can't
fit a intermediate in there which is 26".
maybe the "homeowner" chestwhich measures about 23". hummm... not sure if it's worth the $89 though.
i think im going to look for tools.
170lbs/ft should be enough to remove most suspension fasteners, right?
(less WRX, maybe.
) i might save up and get one of these. i
know air tools would have MUCH more torque but i dont do suspension
work that much. maybe once a year... so cordless with rapid charge
would better suit my needs especially for quick lug removal.

Updated pics of garage........
I finally had my painter come by to paint the garage. Let me know what you think. Note that the I had the light fixtures painted as well as the exposed plumbing, the door, garage door tracks, garage door motors and AC compressor hose. The first pic is the before pic and if you wanna see more, look at the first post here

gus- i like how you did the gray and the white walls....
not sure about the red pipes, rails, etc.
the thing about it
is the visual focus... it is suppose to go to the car, or the pipes?
wat, you didn't paint it yourself? that's part of the fun!

them together to torque up the towel so it doesn't spin. *should* be
okay even in the wind. if not, no biggie, i will make a tension arm to
hold the towel.
ordered today, probably here monday of next week.
i also ordered their touchup paint bottle with brush along with
the individual broom/deck brush holders.
flooring
Anyone have experience with the metallic look flooring from COSTCO? It looks to be sturdy enough but not sure of the look in a real application...also a problem with the seams in the colder climates like Chitown. Anyone ?
Phase 1 is complete!!
This is my modest little garage. I started researching products and ideas last summer. Anyway, this is a 22'x22' attached garage. It isn't really big enough for a great workshop area or a hang out space, but for me it is just right. We have a tractor barn for doing the really dirty work and a shed to store the large gardening stuff, so this is really just for parking and detailing or a quick oil change or mod.
I will hopefully start phase 2 soon. Phase 2 really is converting the side storage room into a grill kitchen for my husband as well as cutting into the side wall to add some storage in the dead space under the stairs.

The plan-time to get started.

Flooring is delivered! Look at all the boxes....

First half of the floor down, what a snap!

Time to pick a paint color and start painting. Reserving the right to change my mind, I didn't pick any of these colors ;D.

The back wall, finished. Storewall and Ultimate Cabinets.

Another pic of the back wall. The area in the right side corner is the oil change zone.

Another view of that corner.

Inside that cabinet, so far.

More along the wall beside DH's truck. Some gardening and Lacrosse gear along with beekeeping suits in the container.

Now facing the back of my bay. These are my ceiling storage hoists, lowered for loading. The one on the right is my "Track Rack", all the stuff I take to the track. Note detailing area on right, more pics of that coming. Griots towel dispenser and Kobalt compressor to the left between the doors.

Hoists up and out of the way.

The detailing section. All my buckets, brushes, towels hanging on the Storewall.

Inside the cabinet, Zaino among other things
, detailing towels up top and clay bars and misc on bottom shelf.

Closeup of workbench area. Including Ipod player, phone, 2way radios for MINI club drives, misc. El Kabong memorabilia and my fabulous vacuum hanging to the right.

Ok, I'm sure that's enough for everyone here.

Do I see a dirty MINI?!

Sorry, I am envious of the garage, I should behave.
My MINI is dirty and my garage is too. Looks great! Looking back at phase one, is there anything you would have done different, some products you would have chosen differently? If so, just pack up whatever you dont want and sent it to me please.
OK, here is what I have done.
I ended up using Armstrong VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile) for the floor. It has its considerations and is not as nice as some of the other products, but it was cheap and since I work in commercial construction I got a good deal from a vendor (a little over 50 cents a square foot). If it wears badly, I can tear it up in a few years and do real high build up epoxy.
I got the cabinets from a project where a 5 year old office space was gutted. They came from a work room so teh lower cabinets actually have full extension slide drawers that held paper boxes. Too bad I did not have more room because I only used half of what was there. My wife matched the floor colors to the cabinets and top. (thought about going with black and white checkers, but she did not like it because being a big Tennessee fan, she wanted orange and white plus white VCT is the worst at getting stained, so we compromised.) She laid the "random" pattern out on the floor beside where I was working and handed them to me. Then I used rubber cove base around the edge. We were going for an industrial look so it fit nicely.

I was nice enough to give up some peg board space for my wife's antenna topper collection.

Normally the lawn mower goes here (can you tell my wife is a Disney freak)
