Detailing ideas for your garage
^^ nice TT!
where did the m-coupe go? gave it to your
wife?
yah, the garage is only partially drywalled. i mentioned earlier that i had
the option to finish it (bought the home new) but i opted not to so
i could use the extra space between the studs. for function im glad i
kept it that way, but for appearance...hummmm... if i do tiles it will make
it look unbalanced.
so decided to wait for now.

Hope you did not take my post the wrong way, I was just poking fun at your indecision. I know the feeling well.
Something else you could do that might work would be to just paint the stud bays and all with white semi gloss (or whatever color) paint. It would be a little more difficult, but would still look great and be much cleaner plus it would allow you to keep your storage.
really doesn't matter.
considering you have to get a village person inspect the work i
intend to do, obtain permits for the new electricals i want to put in,
have the electrician, capenter, and cabinet installers do the work, etc
it will take about 2weeks from start to finish, if not longer.
i see.
nono, i didn't take any offense at all. i know wat i need to do
and the timing is just not right at the moment. next opportunity
would be when i buy my next hobby car so probably best to wait
till then.
and this is the conclusion i keep coming back to, but
ever now and then my head tries to jump the gun.

i see.I hear that, It was a big pain to move everything so the sheetrock guys could do their work. The best time is definitely before you move in.

Sweeeeet. Those wheels are awesome.
I think the jet skis are finally leaving the garage next week...which means there will be room for actually doing stuff to the car IN the garage!

Hey any other pictures of those Rims and Tires? They look real nice.
sounds good that you're going to have space in yourgarage.
thanks! yah, i have a whole bunch in my gallery, actually. the one on
the garage floor in the pict above is my 'old' one which is a 19x8.5 with
245/35/19 S03's and was running 22mm offset. this is the wheel you will
see in the gallery.
the new on on my car is 19x9 with 245/35/19 050A pole positions running
16mm offset.
my luck of the day...
got 5 miles from the new tire.
yep,
i drove for maybe 10min and suddently thumping, had to stop and see.
took out my flashlight and DAMN!!
i highly doubt i drove over anything sharp, even went over the same
road immediately after this happened in my civic and didn't find anything
that could've cause it to tear like this...
some sort of defect, i think.

so, im taking a day off and going to tirerack to see if they can give me
a replacement. as far as today, not having fun in the garage.
at least my expensive wheel and my car is in tact... could've been worse.
maybe i can meet Alex in person?!

I'm not ready to show my garage, because the convertion from a dump to something my PW/B doesn't get a decease or depression hasn't started yet.
But I just got my first tool chest from Sears this morning

Sears got them currently on sale again, till tomorrow 07/07/2007.
And of course, it wasn't the one I originally wanted, but in a good way.
I had ordered and paid it online and opted for in-store pick up.
5 minutes later I got the mail that it is ready.
I drive to my local Sears and the guy at the pick up told me they don't have it in stock (WTF ???). I had selected the right Sears so why would they tell me they have it and I can get it, when it isn't so ???
Seems their system saw 1 piece each in inventory, the floor model :(
They could order it for me though... hmmmm, no way !
So I ask for the manager, he checked again and said nope, nothing here.
I'm close to a fit but restrain myself (my wife would have been so proud of me... about the restraining part) and asked what price he could give me on the floor model ? No can do sir, floormodel not for sale.
But let me see what we have similiar... and that on the pic is what he gave me
The original selection was a red one, with 1 drawer more on each module for $167, this combo would have been $299 (already $100 reduced because of the sale) and he gave it to me for $199

Sweet! I'd like to get a black one like that and get my garage all spruced up.
But I still have that darn jet-ski problem...I'm hoping when I get home that they won't be there anymore.
But I'm thinking if they're gone, I'll start a garage renovation project. Probably nothing huge but I can at least get the walls insulated and drywalled and maybe get some decent shelving in.
Did we ever get a final verdict on the best value/quality flooring? I should probably go back through this thread and work it out.

I pondered over the flooring part too. Dug for 2 weeks through garagejournal.com.
Considered Epoxy but decided now on Motofloor, the RaceDeck brand for CostCo.
CostCo has it currently on sale till beginning of August , 89.99 for 48 tiles, that's < $2 per sqf before taxes and shipping.
I'm just to afraid of messing around with the Expoy and really would like to get the floor finished in one afternoon (detached condo garage, no option for storing the stuff anywhere else while I'm redoing).
And I will get my checkerboard very easily while it would be a pain to do with Epoxy

I like the tiles...but I don't like how they clack when you walk on them. I think I'll probably end up doing epoxy with some sparkly chips in it
And this sounds ridiculous, but as much as I want it to look nice, I'd rather spend less money on it...more money for mods that way
I think I can probably make it look really nice with an epoxy floor and some strategically installed IKEA cabinetry.

Hah ! Now I know where I've seen it before !
Nice kenchan !
Are you happy with your workbench ?
I considered it but the ones I liked come in 72" width and my garage is 2 inches short to fit 2... or it would leave to much space
I will go with a 8' kitchen countertop, afixed to the back studs of my garage with study brackets and using chrome legs from IKEA for the front. Got them left from my old office desks and thank the lord in that case, I didn't throw them away

then put up shelves for the extra storage. You will be much happier with the looks of the place.
