This past weekend I saw 2 nice ladies in a new Gold Cabrio S with SAUCY on the plates. Thanks for the full arm wave! You made mine and the ladies day!

 

On saturday in Lombard (Main and Roosevelt) saw a very nice classic Mini (no idea the year or anything but it was dark blue) and got a nice big wave... poor guy seems suprised to see me wave! ha!

 

Tri-City area mini's, wheres my wave back?! ive been shut down multiple times..

 

Parked next to another Mini at the Palatine Target the other night.

 

Hehe it's nice to see that other people park at the end of the lot, too. You almost have to unless you adore dings.

Seriously, who does that?! Who opens a door on someone else's car?

 

Spotted Morwen's black Clubman with green mirrors and stripes Southbound on 294 near 88. I was northbound in a Subaru stuck in nasty traffic

 

Mellow Yellow/ White MCS with chrome scoop AAAAND an NIU plate that said "MINI" spotted in my parent's neighborhood tonight. Must've been a party! Woo wooooo.

Also, a Sparkling Silver/ B in Lakemoor on 120 tonight, and then again on 31 in McHenry. Thanks for the waves, man!

 

7:30AM today I believe I saw AllBlack05S's wife on Bartlett rd. Beautiful car, thanks for the full arm wave!!! I was in the.....R53-BRG with white stripes.

 

Does anyone carry a FSR radio with them? I remember when I was waiting for my '09 Clubman to arrive I saw a thread that said the unofficial MINI frequency was 7-21. After I got my car, I left a radio in there and tuned. I'd try putting out calls occasionally, but never got any responses.

Just thought I'd mention it. If anyone responds to this, I'll start turning it on again. Just thought it's a cool way to actually say "Hi!" when you drive by.

I'll be in a Mellow Yellow just-a-Clubman with a black roof and C-pillars and white bonnet stripes.

 

The Chicago MINI Motoring Club usually uses Channel1, subchannel1 on our group drives. I don't carry mine around otherwise.

 

At about 11:20am today, I was on Roselle Rd. in Schaumburg, north of Golf Rd. and something caught my eye. I saw what looked like a Mini across the street, but wait........those are the bumper air intakes for the 2011!.......It looks a little big.........I just saw a CR/B Countryman S!! As we drove past each other, I gave a good 5 honks and waved. He honestly looked like he was just caught, or in trouble. I'm guessing the car came from Patrick Mini right down the road and this is going to be the Countryman revealed at MTTS.

It honestly looks better in person than in pictures. I don't know if I'd buy one, but I'd welcome it to the Mini family.

Last week Thursday, saw a blue drop-top on the fun ramp from 53S to 90W. Normally not that interesting, but it was raining, the top was down, and the guy was nekkid. WTF?

 

Yesterday in Palatine outside of Citibank I walked to my car and heard a girl say "I like your car!" I turned around and she was in a Yellow/Black R56. I said the same back. Hooray for local friendlies!

 

See lots of MINIs every day, but it has been a long time since I've gotten a wave back..

Good news.. Got a big wave from a CR/W MC on Lake Cook and Skokie Blvd while waiting for a light to change..

Not as good news.. A Yellow/Black MC non-waver was sitting directly behind me when I got that wave.

 

I drive from the south side up to the niles/des plaines area like once a week. I always see a few each time. No one ever waves, or rarely even looks over at me.

 

At about 8:30 this morning I spotted a BRG/B MINI Convertible, with the full gamot of dragon decals and badges.

hallo! thank you for letting me know about the "wave"! i just bought my 05 MCS PW/B and love it so far! Driving in lincoln park on Monday Smiled at another mini but no response; especially no wave, i would have waved back before even reading this thread! anyway - i will be westbound on Lake Cook in the mornings around 7 and I plan on being a happy mini owner!

Cruised up Edens behind a PW/PW R56 MC from Dempster to Willow this morning. No wave though..

 

awww - if I saw you I would have sent a little honk or wave! however the windows are a really dark tint. i am on the road early Kennedy out to Edens, Edens to Lake Cook; and its always dark on the way in (and home for that matter) so I normally cant see who is behind me.
I love this car!! In the 1 month of owning my Mini; I now notice how many Chicago mini's there are on the road...., but everyone looks so pissed off! I'm such a dork with my ever-ready friendly smile!

 

I'll be heading that way to Lake Cook near 294 for meetings the next 2 days, but a bit later in the morning..
