So, the wifey and I got our first wave from another Mini owner today. A lady driving a Pepper White Clubman with a black roof and black bonnet stripes smiled and waved to us as she was pulling into the Menards lot from Route 12 in Fox Lake.

Spotted a EG/CR 2011 JCW (Patrick dealer) parked at Superdawg this evening while we were enjoying ours too. Also had the front no holes license plate bracket on.

 

The wifey and I spotted a guy in a Pepper White with black bonnet strips waving to us at the intersection of Wilson and Nippersink roads (Round Lake) around noon today.

 

Starved Rock 3:30ish on the twisty section, you're heading east towards 71 and the detour. Arm stretched out the window waving as I pass by waving back.

The Rock was packed today.

Yup, I figured that was you. Not many of us around.

 

Yeah, I looked in the mirror and then did a double take cause I didnt expect to see a JCW there. And then saw it was the green/red and knew it had to be you.
I dont' see a JCW for like 3 yrs, and then both our red roof JCWs are driving at the same place at the same time.

 

SO.... is anyone from this forum going to attend the Chicago MINI Motoring Club's detailing seminar / get together today?

The wifey (Jenni aka ZombiePants on the forums) and I are considering going to this. It will be our first local event (as owners) and we hope to meet other locals in the MINI enthusiast scene!

 

I won't be there today, but as a new member I can tell you it's a great group and you'll be welcomed!

We took your advice and took that little detour on our way home, where we found that classic Mini 850 getting a piggy-back ride on a Countryman over at the BMW/Mini headquarters.

I did see an EXACT copy of my car, sans my DIY exhaust the other day heading north on Lakeshore, though. Out of state plates.

This afternoon, I pulled into the Fox Lake Jewel-Osco parking lot and parked next to a blue MCS with a white roof. It had MTTS stickers on the rear side windows.

The owner (bearded guy with sunglasses) walked up to the car as I was getting out of my car. He said, "hey, nice car!" I said, "you too! I wish mine was an S like yours!".

I had to run into the store to get some canning ingredients for the wifey so I didn't get to chat any longer.

 

Spotted a PW/B Cooper on a flatbed heading north on the Eden's about 3:30 PM. Sadly it appeared to have been crushed by a tree. Casualty of this mornings storms?

 

Sorry to say, as far as I know -- unless there were 2 identical mini's hit by trees, the PW/B cooper was a total loss. Saw them haul it away a couple hours ago

I saw a beautiful JCW MC hardtop, black with a red roof and mirrors on I 88 about 6 miles west of Rt 47. I was the idiot grinning at you in the black Range Rover!
I can't wait to get my new Cooper!

 

Spotted on Sunday late morning: Chewbacca (and Mrs pantsedzombie) coming out of Woodfield . The Mayfair really stands out for me. I wasnt in my MINI...

Spotted this morning around 8:30am: I think it was a Royal Grey Countryman (or Lte Choco?) on NB 294 after Dundee Rd. I passed you and waved before exiting at Lake/Cook Rd. Thanks for the wave back

 

To the guy in the jet black/black R56 JustaCooper heading East on 90/94 along the Addison St. On-ramp, thanks for the merge and the wave-by.

 

I spotted and waved to this same one driving east bound on I88 this morning (5:30). We exchanged just prior to the Winfield exit. Older woman and I'm wondering if she knows about the club.
