Ok, I know this has been discussed but.....

WHY WON'T ANYONE IN THE WESTERN BURBS WAVE???!?!?!?!?

I mean, seriously? Not even a look? Come on people!

I do have a funny story though. I was driving to work (my one early morning a week) and was stopped at a light at Ogden and Jefferson at about 7:50am. A british green Mini pulled up next to me into the turn lane. I look over- check out the wheels, then the car, then the people in the car. Caught the passenger looking at my wheels, my car, then to me....it was my service advisor on a test drive (I'm assuming) in the passenger seat! Obviously, got the wave.

jax that is a pretty funny story.

and for the record all i do is wave in the burbs. maybe i should try to be less animated and try the simple head nod and see if that works. if it doesn't, well then i'm rolling down my window and leaning out to scream and wave

i got a thumbs up and jaw drop from a guy in a dropped M3 on Thursday - so at least HE knows what's what

After I don't know how long of me waving and getting no response, I have given up on the wave.

Yes. I do that thing where I wait to see if the other waves, then I wave back.

Ok I am getting a little frustrated here. First off, I have to say over the winter I was a little bit in hibernation mode with the whole waving. Not a valid excuse, I know, but the past two weeks I have waved to every single mini I have seen. I didn't just give a nod or lift a few fingers off the steering wheel, they were full on waves! In the past two weeks every mini but one waved and that was mighty mini! I got a wave and were zipping aroung the other day on rt 72 Tuesday. That made my day btw! Today on Randall, I saw 3 within 2 minutes of each other no wave! I'm at a loss for words! I'm making up for my missed waves over the winter.

At some point you'll get used to not-waving being the default mode of most MINI drivers out there, and then just count it as a nice thing to happen when you do happen to exchange waves.

There are better things in life to get frustrated about, I think. Enjoy the ride, everything else is icing.

Which end of Randall do you travel? I am on the North end every day but I go as far south as Geneva once or twice a week.

Okay so I see you mentioned Rt. 72. This is the first in a long time I have heard of NAM posters being in my area. I will have to look for you and Mighty.

Steve, I parked next to a CR/W cooper today at village crossing around noon, then i spotted your family walking past the chipotle while i was eating my delicious burrito. I was sitting at the window, but your family didn't recognize me, lol.

First formal spotting of the 2nd MINI!!
They will be severely punished when they get home for not recognizing you..

EDIT: When they got home, they did know it was your car, so they won't be punished (this time). Sorry they didn't wave.. Kevin thought it was you but wasn't sure because your face was hidden behind a giant burrito.

Exchanged waves this morning at Lombard & Harrison in Oak Park with a BRG S Cabrio that was enjoying a little top down motoring.

Received a wave on 3/21 on Old Orchard Road from a guy in a red Cooper in the opposite lane. I unfortunately could not return the wave because he caught me off guard and by the time I could even react he was past me. My apologies.

I've exchanged waves with this particular Cabrio a couple of times before. It's the only Mini that has waved in OP in recent memory. Everyone else is either oblivious or looks at me like I'm nuts

I'm always waving - and I see you all 2-3x daily on my commute - 75th st. or 88, aurora to oakbrook. The chick I commute with thinks it's hilarious and has finally admitted she's secretly jealous yet excited to be a part of 'the wave'.
