My Mini is being built

Spoke to 2 different people at Ask-Mini today and they both said my Mini is in the factory as of today.

They said will finish building no later than Monday 9-18, but could well finish later this week.

When I ask about time line after leaving factory, they replied 20 days from completion to my drive way.

This would put my Mini delivery at approximatly 6 weeks.

Now who EXCITED??

Correction....I talked to another guy today and he was more clear. My car is not totally finished. It is going through quality inspection and then from there it will go to the port!!! Ive found out half the fun of ordering a Mini is tracking it. There are so many ways. BTW I already read the sticky and it sucks for me because it is hard to track Minis shippped to the west coast. :(

My car skipped right through paint and quality control! Eeeks! J/k.
It would be really cool to get a breakdown of when the MINI was at the different parts of assembly... Sane... no, I never claimed That!

Hi everyone! Although this is my 3rd MINI, this is my first time tracking one.

Our little saucy JCW arrived at the departure port today and is awaiting transportation. Hope our MINI has a blast hanging out with yours...and enjoys the ride with some good mates over to California.

As long as Osama doesn't buy a submarine and does target practice on my boat, or a rogue hurricane sinks it.

Thanks guys! I was wavering between Pocket Size and ANY MINI....
PKT SIZE v. NE MINI (plate frame would say MINEY MOE).... decided the size thing was way cute! I think the Whale Tail goes well with the Hawaiian flower bonnet I"m putting on.

Giants... which dealer did you purchase from? Perhaps we'll be picking up the same day! Moe is going through East Bay Mini. We should be the same ship, etc.

I ordered mine through Niello Mini in Sacramento. Even though we do not have the same dealer our Mini should share the same ship i think. If you find out the name of our ship post it here because it is trackable through some sites.

bad vin update

Howdy - here is the latest in my little saga. My MA is on vacation, so I contacted the director of Mini sales at Irvine Mini yesterday, and he had not heard of any problems with the infamous 147 bad VINs, and said that he would contact the regional rep to find out what the story is. Never heard back from him. One of the other MAs called this morning to see if I wanted to change anything from my previous order, as they are re-ordering my Basil just in case there really is a problem with the VIN number. I asked about any kind of program from MINI to compensate us for our pain and suffering in the delay, and the substitute MA said that they did not know if there is even a problem yet.... Looks like I might be transfered to the week 38 or 39 support group....

Aggie - any news from your end?

Homer...don't you find this interesting how the stories differ??? Thank goodness for NAM and us being able to share information! Sub MA doesn't even know if there is a problem???? HA HA HA .....rriiighhhtttt...

My only update is that I FINALLY got a return call from ASK MINI (got a message) last night not giving me any details but THREE times said to 'call your motoring advisor' for an update on your order/situation. lol... My MA yesterday said he'd have a new VIN and be able to tell me what Mini was doing for us on Friday.... *big sigh* 48 hours of nothingness until I get another update.

I will be transfering to 38 or 39 as well...we can 'rock' another support group.

Stay in touch and I will do the same!!!

HI Guys.. riscott on the week 36 thread said the bad VINS have a 7 instead of a 6 on the 10th digit, if that helps.

And that they were all convertibles. I'm sad for those 147 MINI's that have to... go to the great twisty in the sky... :( I hope MINI does something extra special for those expectant 147 families, and I do not mean building y'all a new one!

My hard top is being transported to the port of exit as of 847am HST. Which boat is destined for the east coast and which truck is taking her to Ohio? Stay tuned...

Fun...if you trace the train tracks down to southampton, you can find the other end and even see plenty of MINIs waiting next to a WW boat!

The death of a Mini

sniff..sniff... thanks Eenie and Bri for acknowledging our (homer and me) Mini deaths...it's very difficult to describe the loss of a Mini when you have felt it kick and such. I am not sure I will ever be able to look at another Mini the same. I don't know if I can order another one...the loss is so significant.

LOL...SWEET! WOOHOO!!! SO LET'S ORDER THE NEXT ONE and make changes! ha ha... Shall I stick with red? Shall I change it? I think I should add some things since we just ordered exactly what we test drove because we LOVED it...since reading, I have learned a lot.

One must always see the positive in the worst of situations.

It's fun seeing everyone else's progress! Track those boats you all!!!!
