Week 23 2008 Support Group
So most of you guys managed to sell your respective current cars already while awaiting your new babies. Mind if I ask what type of seller you used? Like online? Or by mouth? Or person-to-person? I'm selling my Honda too but I don't know where to begin!
I finally went to a very reputable sales dealer and sold them the car. Actually doing that today.
Good luck!!!
Mine was born june 5th. I had ordered it on May 10th. Dealer said it was enroute but did not know the name of the ship. I am reading that the Patriot is heading into NY.... I live in Ohio but was told the ship goes to South Carolina-so I don't know what ship may be going to that port. Any info out there would be helpful. New York seems more logical. Lightning blue/white, premium pkg, auto, sport steering, sport stripes white...I am so anxious to get this car. Need to sell my other car but can't until this one arrives....
Selling the car
1) I'm OCD and kept my car immaculate, right down to the 93,000th mile. Every part of that car was clean and working (OK, there was a cassette stuck in the player)
2) There seemed to be a market for my car. Even though I only got 2 calls in two days; both parties were dead set on getting exactly what I was driving.

Always fun to catch up on NAM Week 23 after a weekend.
This week I really need to get serious about listing my Alero on Craigslist. I am going to put it less than KBB just to get it sold ASAP and make a little more money than the dealership offered me for trade-in. If I can't sell it by MDay (MINI-Day) then I will just bite it and take the peanuts offered for trade in. That's the plan anyway!

- Made sure the car was spotless when we were ready to sell. Invested $100 in a good wash/mini detail.
- Took tons of photos, from every angle. Did my own little HTML ad that I posted onto Craigs List, had about 12 photos in the ad. Really basic, plain ad, just the photos and some descriptive text.
- In the ad, played up Honda reliability and all the features the car has.
- Since the car had high miles, I made up a list of all the service that had been done to show it was well taken care of. Emailed that to anyone who asked about the car.
- I was real upfront with the eventual buyer that the car was well maintained but would probably need new tires within 12 months. When he bought it, he asked to take off $400 from the price for the tires, and I agreed.
I have yet to sell mine. Then again, it's an SUV. I do have someone interested, but no exact decision yet. My car is also fairly new so it's kind of expensive. I use autotrader, all of my forums, and its out front with for sale signs on it. I have a few things going for me though... I'm the only owner, and Im a non smoker and don't let anyone else smoke in it either, and I also kept the mileage very low. you should have no problem selling a Honda!
M-Day (Mini Day) is getting closer for all of us even if we can't track them right now- so exciting!!!! I am going to have to clean out all of the stuff in my Alero trunk and limit what I put in the Mini... right now I have a blanket, small gas can, jumper cables, sweater and a couple of other random things- too much for a "boot"
WooHoo!!! A couple came to look at my truck yesterday and their Credit Union called me today to schedule and appointment to go sign the pwwk!
Now I just have to arrange for transportation for the next couple of weeks.
To all who are trying to sell their vehicle, I used AutoTrader.com and went with the premium package that includes your local magazine, and I splurged for the oversize picture in the mag to draw attention to it. Plus, it was priced aggressively and immaculately maintained. First people to see it bought it!
Plus, spent a few minutes at www.PenFed.org and secured my loan for 4.25%!!!!
Life is ESPECIALLY good today.
