gemgirlPA,
I'm glad you had some high quality motoring this week.
My car (1995 Lancia Dedra- an italian P.O.S.) has no radio, so I'm green with envy over Matt's commute with the 10 speaker system!

Happy Motoring all

I've had the MC lb now since 6/24 and I'm really enjoying it and getting ready for my first oil change just waiting for my filters to show up. How has everyone been doing.

I have seen people talking about their first mods, so I thought I would throw out mine. I sprung for the cold air intake from Alta. I must say...very easy install. One tip though install the bolts the way they show them in the photo in the instructions.
I was at 1100 mi when I installed it and figured that was "broken in enough" and after having it for a week I have to say it does make it sound way more fun. Before the change I was almost unable to hear the turbo at all and never heard the blow off valve. Now I just love it.
The extra power is very noticeable up around the 4500+ mark. I am absolutely thrilled with it. If you would like a bit more zip out of your MINI this would be a good place to start.
The one down side to this is that it is much more difficult to drive conservatively around town to maximize your fuel economy. I have found myself zipping everywhere just to hear that bbbbbbzzzZZZZZZZZZZ PFFFT as I take off from the stop lights.

I made it! 1200 miles below 4k RPM. Still haven't taken it up to redline yet, but did hit 5k a few moments after I took this.

I just realized that Oliver doesn't have a chrome gas cap. Before I call the d-ship to raise h.e.l.l., does anyoe else with a MCS (non-convertible) have the same problem?

Just so I understand, are you saying that an "S" made it out of the factory w/o the chrome gas cap? Do you have a door instead?

I've got a few in my gallery, but nothing too recent. I'll take more when she's fully clothed. I've got her stripes on my desk, i just haven't had a chance to put them on. No more nekked photos of Yuko for now.

Hi guys,

Waiting sucks. We're only in Europe for another six months, I know it sounds crazy but I am so sick of waiting for the mail...
We should get the MYSTIQUE graphic soon, and once we find a competent installer, I'll post photos.

TWEECKY:
Can I suggest the MINI stickers to cover the ugly warning labels on your sunvisor. Someone in week 23 was talking about them (Was that you, Altoid?), I bought a pair ($15 from Aesthetic Creations) and they look AWESOME.
Will post a picture of them tonight.

I also ordered my "S" stickers from aesthetic creations, but I think they are going to send them with my badge, because it isn't here yet... I think that will look great on the visor.

Does anyone know the first regulations oil change miles? I went into the MINI website last night to find the milage, and couldn't. ButI remember my MA saying is was early in the miles.

For the R56/R55's the car will decide when it wants the first MINI paid for oil change. There is much huffing and puffing back and forth with the poles being, "BMW is smart, and the oils and new engine manufacturing techniques are so good today - listen to the car" to "I'm changing at 500 miles, I don't care what the computer says"

Myself, I am in the "I'll change my own oil at 12-1500 miles" camp.

Entertaining 1st Gen thread here.

That was me and I 2nd your suggestion! The MINI visor stickers look great! People who ride in my MINI always comment how unique a feature it is and are shocked to learn they are not included originally!

I also elected to have my oil changed at 1400ish miles. Only difference is I begrudgingly paid my local MINI dealer to do so as my parking lease prevents me from doing it myself. Sure there is a lot of back and forth on the topic, but I figured it certainly could not hurt anything (except my wallet) and might in fact help. I plan to follow every 10k in the future.

How much did they get you for? Just curious b/c I have to bring mine in as well to have it changed....that is after it gets back from the body shop after some jackass tried parallel parking behind me and cut it too soon and got my rear bumper cover, wheel arch and reflector - and of course it's costing $491 just a measly $9 below my $500 deductible.

**begin rant

Well, i just got back from the dentist. got myself a root canal and a temp crown put in. more to the point, i found out the office manager has a DS/B MCS, i'm guessing week 18-20 from her description.

I was tempted to try and wave at her from waiting room chair but I think that'd be strange. Then i considered asking her to get in hers and wave at me while i sat in mine, but that'd be even more wierd. Why was i considering, because i've yet to get wave back.

Oh well, she's cute, and our MINIs are a great icebreaker for a shy person like me. Hopefully I can get some motoring done w/ another MINI besides my married coworker.

***end rant
