Roll call - 8"+ wide wheels
SP1s have always been a favorite as are work miesters which are similar.
Well SSRs are made in Japan and are a Japanese company so that makes sense. I have just been a fan of that wheel. cant really go on mesh wheels since everyone all ready has done them. Gotta stay different.
I have a set of 18x8 KYOWA EVOLVE wheels (.45 offset) with 215/35-18 KUMHO rubber. As you can see, they are still tucked under the lip, even after a 1.4" drop. The drop was done with H&R springs on the OEM shocks. I also installed Helix control arms. There was enough adjustment for camber without the use of camber plates.

Oh my.... I think they are!! My friend came up to me one day and asked about getting some brembo covers for his brakes. I just walked away. Please take those off of your car. They are actually pretty dangerous and are a huge disadvantage as they don't let your brakes cool of like they should. And, they look pretty dumb. You gotta think about it, the only people that are going to know what "big brake kits", etc, are, are going to realize they're just covers. Nice wheels, though.
Yeah, I can definitely respect the fact that you're trying to be different. Be sure to post pictures up once you get them on, I'd love to see how they look.
I just read all 25 pages! haha... not a good thing i have a final in two days! haha
anyways
Im doing a "budget" build ... I won't be doing the coilover route but I should be running koni yellow and I think im going to do the tein s-techs or Htechs (less drop more travel
)
so the car wont be slammed... IE fixed camber plates
I think I am going to pick up a set of 15 x 8.25 +25 offset and I want to run 225/45 (probably some hankook rs3s) in the future.. but for the budget maybe some 195 or 205s time being
will I run into rubbing issues or fitment issues with 225/45 tires... considering I am not going with coilovers.
I am going for more a "budget" daily driver that plays well in the corners
for an 2003 mini cooper s
Thanks in advance

Watch the video. The covers, in no way, affect the cooling of the brakes. You will see why.

Personally, I think 15"s are too small, even on MINIs, but that's just my personal preference. 225/45s would be looking really fat with that set up, but you shouldn't have any rubbing issues with ET25.

Hi, I've been reading through most of this thread and am trying to determine the best setup for my needs.
Needs:
Daily driver
Edit: prefer 16", but would do 17 if other criteria was met
8" wide
Trying to keep weight under 20lbs
Cost under 200 per wheel
No camber plates (unless I get coils that include them)
Currently on tein springs so not that low right now
Can I even run 8" wide without going way out of spec on camber?
I really don't like the "poked" look, and prefer a flush or slight tuck.
I love the look of bbs and was looking at esm 002r but I don't think the 20 offset will work for what I'm doing.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Whatever you do... Do NOT get replica BBS. They will decrease the value of my REAL ones.
And no one has gotten replica RS's to look right IMO... They've done a good job with LM's though. Maybe try those?
8" wide et20 will give you more poke than you're probably looking for. If you go with an 8" wheel that is around et35, you should be flush.

Actually.. the wheels are my car fit in your range.
17x8 +35 ESM-001 I believe they are under a grand shipped weight is 21lbs. so a little over but oh well.
Other wise ESM makes other replicas in that size and offset.
