On the MidniteCoop I was wondering why you used 11mm spacers on the front and 15 on the back, I was thinking about doing 15 all around. Your car looks great by the way -

I can finally say that I joined the club. I've been waiting for my old set of tires to wear down before switching over but for the past few days, I've been a happy member of the 15x8 6UL club. I'm using 5mm spacers on the rear but 3mm would be fine. They did technically fit without spacers but we're talking 1/16th of an inch of clearance. I'm running 225/50 Yoko ES100's on the stock suspension and it really doesn't look that bad. No rubbing to speak of. I'll post pictures soon but my MINI is filthy at the moment.

All joking aside, yes theoretically 8's allow you to run wider tires which will offer more traction if that's the route you can go. The only issue is that with some offsets, your tire size options are still determined by rubbing conflicts so you might not be able to use the 8's to their full advantage if their offset is too low.
what would of a good tire choice.. im running 16x8 and 16x9 offset 33..

OK, Rally/Anyone

I have to ask this question to be sure.
Is anyone running 16x8/16x9s w/an ET20/ET24 offset on an R53?
Rally has already said et24 is too low for adapters, but I'm confused when I see ET15 & ET20 on post here and the "MU" forum. I respect Rally's tire/rim wisdom, but when I see people running 16 & 17 x 9 and 9.5 I have to wonder. I know it depends on the offset, but help me understand why et15 works and et24 does not. I'm just in search of knowledge at the moment. I have the will and trying to find the way. I'd be happy with half the wow factor that Rally has when you see his Clubby.

Is it feasible to get the rims re-drilled to 4x100? Just throwing that out there.

3pc BBS Rims aren't cheap so I gotta find a way to make this work.

I have BBS 16x8 et20 fr and 16x9 et24 rr

Reason for it is because the adapters itself will further lower your offset. The further the center of the wheel goes out, the lower the offset. Adapters themselves are around 20mm, maybe less maybe more. So say you add a 20mm adapter to your 24mm offset, your final offset will be 4et. That will make it poke out like crazy especially for 16x9.

You can have it re-drilled to 4x100 but you would have to have the existing holes filled. Reason for this is because when you drill a 4x100 on top of your 5, one of the holes will overlap. You also have to look at the center bore. 4x100 has a very small space in the middle - your center bore. If your center bore is too large, when you drill re 4x100 it may cut in the center bore of your wheel which could be unsafe.

Sorry if I'm being vague. Typed this on my iPhone...

Minian- I would definitely try to have those wheels redrilled. They are beautiful. BUT definitely need to be FILLED- and THEN redrilled.

I am kind of in the same dilemma- I need to run 16x8.5 et32 corvette wheels, and I just bought adapters that are 20 and 15mm. So I think it should be interesting to see how much poke I have. I desperately want to run these wheels, so if it is too much poke- well, shoot!

I'll post pictures once I get the adapters in and on the car...

It's because you will have to run 18mm-25mm adapters, so all of a sudden your wheels become 16x9 et6 or et-1 which are not a good offset for 9s. You want your offset to be around 20-35 for a 9" wheel.

Redrilling is the only feasible option. I'd have to see the backpad of the wheel to determine whether I'd recommend it. I don't like fills and redrills on wheels with pedal backpads, personally.

Rally- question.

16x8.5 et32 with 15mm and 23mm adapters. How will this sit on my car?
Thinking about machining 5mm off both or only rears if it is too much poke.

That will still be a lot of poke, but you could pull it off if you really wanted to.

What tires should I get for a good amount of stretch? I feel like I'd need more stretch than a 205/40, but I'm not sure.

How low do you want to be?

Either 205/45 or 205/40 with something like falken 512s or toyo t1rs

Ok now I got it. As for the fill and drill I understand working with metals. (I'm in Aviation) The full understanding of "offset" is what got me, but you were very clear not vague. Thanks

About an inch lower than I am now. I am about 21.8" fender to ground now.

If I were you I'd go 205/45, but a bunch of the corvette wheel owners go 205/40 to get lower. I personally don't think 205/40/16 fills up the wheel wells enough on the big meaty r56 body.

I will probably go with the lower profile tires. I am sick of the rubbing sound from thick stock tires- like nails on a chalk board... every.. single.. bump.. D:

Here's what 205/40/16 looks like on the bigger body r56s. You have to be really low to pull them off and even then they were a little too small for my personal tastes. If/when I do 16's again, it will be on 205/45/16s

Okay, thanks Rally. Something to think about I guess.
Adapters for the vette wheels are on their way. But in the meantime, before I join the 8"+ wide wheel club, a picture of the banner:
