While there are more and more MINIs on the roads, seeing them in my hometown is still rare, saw two within seconds Friday around 12:30pm on University Ave here in Riverside IB/W MCS & CR/CR MCS Gave waves/"Hang Loose" sign to both, but they both had tinted windows so couldn't see a response...still too damn cool in this town

Very interesting day today
Around noon time at the Del Amo mall i parked next to a LY/LY MC with some aftermarket 18" rims and checkerboard side mirrors. Took a picture, very cool.
Then got a wave from a BRG MC(S?)c in Redondo on Esplanade
Then on Hawthorne Blvd. a guy pulled up next to me at a red light and asked me about my R56. I could tell he loved my mini; he told me he was looking to get one very soon! He said his buddy is with WestCoastMini, he gave me his card!
I love having my MCS here in the LA area

Yeah I don't see very many around here either. Normally it's just me engulfed by trucks and SUVs.

Today 91W about 11am saw a MINI about a half mile behind me, I slowed a couple miles per hour to see if they'd catch up so we could wave. Eventually they did and the guy driving smiled & waved I returned the smile & wave. Made my day. It was a PS/B MCS with bonnet stripes. It helped that we both had our windows down, tinted windows make it hard to see the wave.

Came upon a Chili Red S this morning on the 91E about 7:30AM. License frame said USC LAW I think. Anyhow, I rolled down windows as I got beside him. No acknowledgment. I went forward and slowed down twice (in adjacent lane), and no acknowledgment, so I closed window and sped off. Seems pretty typical of most of the MINIs I see on the road.

Just saw a PW/B on Artesia & Norwalk(i think) that had just been hit in front of the drivers door, police were on the scene nobody looked hurt, just the MINI. Bummer. On a lighter note I saw a CR/B MCC(S?) on the 91E transitioning to the 57, no wave since we were 4 lanes apart.

Is it true that there is one thing that UCLA students and USC students have in common? That they were all accepted to USC?

(I learned that one from my niece, who graduated from UCLA's engineering school in 2005)

heh heh heh
look what i started

anyway, yesterday, driving 405 south near long beach, got waves from two cute ladies in a DS/B MCS in the carpool lane
then in fountain valley, near mile square park, a PW/PW MCS pulled up next to us on brookhurst and we exchanged a few "nice car!" comments, our minis being both PW. he had a JCW badge/insignia on the boot

but that wasnt the biggest event that day
in torrance, on prairie ave, a sandy-champagne nissan altima with paper plates marked Mossy Nissan El Cajon, driven by a black female, short hair, mid 30s, HIT US and got away (after the 2nd time she sped off) If any of you guys see her in Torrance or El Cajon, a little help would be nice!

read the whole story here if you're interested:

motor on!

On Saturday, a group of 6 of us went up to Newport Beach for lunch. We saw a few MINIs as we were heading out of town, and I posed the question to the group, "If you randomly saw a group of MINIs driving around, would you join up?" Pretty much everyone said yes.

Well, on the way home, a CR/B spotted us and joined our convoy for quite a while. He (or she) could've ditched us and been on his way at several points, yet he chose to hang with us until we pulled off at a rest area (hoping he'd stop too so we could chat) near Camp Pendleton.

Anyway, it was fun to have a stranger join our group for a half hour or so. Hooray for friendly motorers!

License plate said MRIOKRT. (or something along those lines). Anyone here?

Is he.. I figured. That car was AWESOME. It's the MINI that made me raise an eyebrow and say.. "You know.. MINIs aren't as bad as I thought they were. That one is just plain cool. I like it."

..and then there was the fact that he could obviously leave me in the dust with little effort.

Edit - Yeah, just found that screen name. Thanks. SUCH a nice car...

I saw myself today, haha!

Pulling out of a gas station I saw Kramers twin in the turn lane I was headed for. Pulled up next to her, she was surprised too. We exchanged compliments on what good taste in cars we had.

Makes the rest of the day cool.

Also saw (again) a cute blond in a CR/W Cooper on the 57S near the Big A. She is focused on her driving, not acknowledging other MINIs. C'est la vie!

Any time a student transfers from UCLA to USC, it raises the IQ average at BOTH schools.

On the 4th, the WCM (San Diego) group were on a run through the Lake Henshaw/Julian area (I think). As our convoy of ~20 headed east, we were passed in the opposite direction by an Indi Blue convertible MC. They waved.

Later that day we were at a pit stop at the Julian Pie Co., when we we see the blue cabrio again! This time they stopped to say hi and check out the other MINIs. We chatted a bit, I gave them a WCM Spotter card, and as we prepared to roll on, they joined us all the way to our destination.

Then they turned around and left, and I forgot to get any names! The MINI's plate says BLUNANO (Or was it, NANOBLU). Either way, I thought that was cool and wanted to give a shout to our mystery guest!

Saw a cool Sidewalk MCS convertible on PCH this morning.

Great looking wheels and interior.

.. and I forgot to mention the 3 427 Cobras that were cruising PCH as well!

Saturday I saw a Classic MINI Cream near LAX turning onto Pershing, I gave a wave but he didn't Oh well.

Then this morning going into work, I had a grey MCS behind me I waved, then I pulled to the right for the turn and passed another MCS going straight, gave another wave. Then as I pulled into the garage, one of hose MINIS pulled in at the front garage enterance.

There is also a white MC with checkered stripes sitting on the second floor and hasn't moved in like 2 months.
