At 4:42PM today I merged onto I56 going Eastbound at the Carmel Valley Road onramp. In my side mirror I caught a glimpse of a Velvet Red Cooper coming up along side me. Cali License Plate 5AKE-XXX.

I looked to my left, and I got a very nice smile and a big friendly wave from the guy driving.

We motored together for about 6 miles, side by side, cruising through rush hour traffic. I followed him up the Black Mountain Road exit, until he made a left onto a side street. I wasn't stalking you, I promise! I take Mercy Road to go home.

What a friendly motorer. If you read NAM and see this, you made my day!

Saw about 4 modded minis today in Long Beach but couldn't say hi cus i was working and driving a crappy cavalier company car.

One was red parked at LBC airport, had a light bar on the bottom grill that had two huge lamps, aero grill, and 17 inch gunmetal rims on spring st.

Second parked on junipero was dark silver with dark silver roof and had some aftermrkt rims.

Third was a light silver/grey with black rims and chrome lip getting on the freeway on cherry.

other was dark blue with two white stripes and silver wheels

and the last one was green MCS.

Yeah these were all cooper S's. I would have had a field day waving if i was in my MCS.

I see a PW/B MCS with both bonnet and boot stripes, R90 wheels in silver and tinted windows around the Walnut, CA area once in a while, I remember the licence plate saying MINI O or something similar to that.

the guy wouldn't wave. he drove pretty fast, i kept up for while, then turned off on del amo to go home

earlier today driving down lomita near torrance memorial, saw a CR MCS with white stripes and a union jack on the sunroof i think, i waved, and i got a surpirsed wave back from the gentleman

Saw a PS/PS with aero kit and painted arches on Barranca, in Covina, right in front of Ikea, I didn't have a chance to wave because I barely saw you and you drove right by me. Sweet looking MINI!

MINI Sightings Abound

I drive the freeways and surface streets in OC in my '02 LY/W MCS (plate reads COOOOOP) and I see more and more MINIS all the time. Since it's not quite as unusual as it used to be to see one, the ratio of returned greetings has dropped.

That's OK, though, cause true afficianados will always respond!!

Until your buddy owns a MINI, he'll never understand our friendliness. Your MINI was the first R56 I've seen up close on the road, so I may have been a little over enthusiastic...but I don't think so.

Last night, got a wave from a friendly lady driving a LY/B MCS with black bonnet stripes on Palos Verdes Blvd in South Redondo.
Then today, I saw the same CR/W MCS with the union jack sunroof that I saw a few weeks back, oon the same street/interesction! He had that "what the..." look on his face when he saw us again!

Spotted MNIKING on the 405N--I exited to the 90 West freeway---I was on the phone in the JB/JB MCS with the missing side skirts and arches and OBSSSSD plates. We exchanged waves. Good seeing you!

Getting the arches painted? If so let me know your final price and where you got them done at.

Naw couldn't ditch the plastic--then I couldn't vouch for my Black Wow.

I repainted my bonnet (due to major bug impacts from the previous owner) and a flying tire fragment from the 105, and also got the left rear quarter panel filled and painted. I haven't fully reassembled it, because it needs more paint work, but I've now got Ociari Cowl Vents and the Aero Kit Side Skirts in Jet Black(some fasteners were missing so I couldn't install it)

Saw a DS/W MCS in the parking lot right beside Jack In The Box in Walnut, beside Grand, it was a Pre 2005 MCS, since it had the center mount reverse light, I think there was 2 people in the car as the doors were open. White S-Lites, I wanted to wave but you didn't look out of your car!

The R56 is a great upgrade to the R53. But I'm not in a hurry to trade in my 06. I'm seeing a lot more MINIS around the neighborhood. If there are any MINI owners in NAM who live around the "lantern" streets in Dana Point...do a shout out.

Spotted a MC BRG/W over in the City Of Industry Costco parking lot, it had checkered roof, looked like 18" wheels and aftermarket exhaust and a 23 on the side. Also another MC CR/W in the Costco parking lot.
