SoCal MINI Spottings - Point Check Here!
Silent indulgence... But damn that was a hot MINI
What I mean by the subject line is: I'm not normally one to post on this forum- I do silently read it for fun etc. But after having a fun couple of miles with this sexy as hell black MCS on I-10 East @ 6:50pm-ish 09/17/07 (Driven by a kicken sporty girlie! At least I think it was a gilrie-- Could have been a dude with long hair AHHHH!) - - > I had to write. I love your car! I was next to a Harley for a bit, and we all know how loud those loverly hogs are. Your MCS tore right through the noise with a beautiful "Putter SPPPPUUUUUURRRRRRRRRR!!!! putter putter " (as you sped up and let off the gas- very nice!
) Kinda wished mine sounded similar
.
In any case- dig what you've done to it. Perhaps I'll catch ya again on my way back to Pasadena..
Cheers!

Been away for awhile, but had to give props to a gentleman who was driving a DS/B MCS NB215 in Berdoo between Inland Center & 2nd St (where I had to exit) last Thursday...First wave I got in a loooong time!

I'll always park in an available spot next to another MINI if there is one open... no matter how inconvenient or far away from my destination. I figure my MINI is much like my Pug... a social creature that likes company.
Today was a good day!
I went to the air bull races in San Diego and saw a bunch of Minis.
I counted 15 mini's! Sadly I did not wave at none of those mini's because I was in my buddy Truck. So I tried...but none of the mini owners couldn't see me because of my buddy tinted window. Though...coming from fontucky...and seeing like what?? one or two a week...it's a big improvement. So i'm saying a Big hello to all of you Sandiegans?? or Sandiegons? well you know what i mean!

ive noticed a particular shift in the general populace of MINI owners here in socal...of the 20-30 MINI's ive seen....only 4 have waved back or smiled or gave the thumbs up...the others wouldnt either acknowldge me or were acting snotty and as if their too good for anyone else.....im sorry but a MINI is certainly not a car to be acting like that....just because you got it at a BMW dealership doesnt mean you need to act like you just bought a M6!
I totally agree with you! I was all happy when I got my MC last year and for the first couple of months everyone I saw waved. Now, hardly ever see anyone wave back. I know we are making eye contact! Maybe it's because I'm throwin' out a peace sign instead of a wave? Its that wrong?
To quote DM
People are People They will do what they do.. Who knows what is going through their heads. Plus (to quote my favorite Brit) "At the end of the day" you never know whats going through their heads. I'll go weeks without seeing a wave from MC owners. Then all of the sudden (such as 2 days ago in Culver) I get a wave and a smile from a like minded individual. I couldn't pull my hand off the wheel to wave due to "large vehicle McGaserson" turning in front of me and the fact I just pulled my back at work etc. So that means I could have been the punk that didn't wave to her. We live in a city that houses how many millions of people? I consider it a diamond in the rough when someone waves. We are becoming a rare breed and honestly thats okay with me. The less of us there are- the more we'll have in common. Aaaahhhh-mmmmeeeennnn.....

I propose the following viral video: i'll shoot it, edit it, post it:
passenger: honey? why do they keep waving to us?
driver: i dunno. maybe we're supposed to wave back?
(hey, that's actually a pretty good idea. more news to come!)

Well, the whole waving thing I've analyzed quite a bit with other members of NAM and we've come up with some theories, one of which makes complete sense to me.. besides the Non-Wavers being Aliens.
There are different reasons why everyone buys a MINI... I THOUGHT of buying my MINI for 9 months.. it took me 9 MONTHS to think about what I wanted and what I didn't want to get with my car. During that 9 month period, a friend of mine said.. "I need a new car, what should I get?" And I said.. "Well, I'm getting a MINI." And then she said she'd call me later.
About 4 hours had passed before she had invited me over to look at her new MINI. If it was anyone else I'da punched them in the gut, cause that's a kick in the nuts. "Hey, I know you wanted one.. so I got one first." And this is without knowing a thing about MINIs. Luckily.. she got into the following and is a waver.
We buy our MINIs because we love the car.. we love what it stands for, how it's different, we love the attention (Which differs from the attention you're looking for if you buy a Ferrari or a Hummer.). Other people buy MINIs because they just needed an efficient car. Some people buy it because they think it's cute. And a good portion of rich kids get it because their parents feel it's not going to kill them, it's made by BMW, and it's not too costly.
So it's not that they think they're too good to wave... it's just that they just don't know... to them, they aren't in a MINI... they're JUST in their car.
