Solar Red is a richer, deeper red than Chili Red. The maroon is Velvet Red.

The colors can be a little... odd. Still trying to figure out how Royal Grey is remotely grey. Or why Space Blue looks teal in all the marketing materials but not in person.

Got my first acknowledgement today! I took Sir Geoffrey out on a food run (chili cheese fries for me, Chevron gas for him) and we parked next to another MINI! I don't remember if it was an MC or MCS.. don't even remember the color.. just that it had yellow decals on the rear window and a miniature Swedish flag on the antenna. The driver and I exchanged "hellos."

Yay me!

Was driving down Ocean Avenue just off Washington Blvd in Venice/Marina Del Rey around 1.30pm today, when a GP drove past on the other side! Was pretty excited as I'd never seen one 'in the flesh' before. I think it had a california plate that said GPMINI. Is this anyone here? Great looking car you have!

And yes I waved.. frantically out of the window, then gave a thumbs up.

Cool!
I saw that one up in Monterey, even snapped a pic!

I'm also curious to find out who it might be.

That's the car! Much cooler in person that I anticipated.

Spotted two in our fair city this morning:
CR MCcS on Magnolia & Arlington..looked real clean with the black bonnet stripes

AB/AB MCS on Indiana in the Auto Center...Could use a wash BUT so could mine (the price you pay for motoring all the time!!)

I, of course, was not in my MCS, cuz she was having the windshield molding replaced!

I grew-up in Colorado and went to school there. I moved out here after college for about 5 years, then moved back to Colorado for two years, before moving back here to L.A. a few years ago.

During the two year period (2001-2003) I had bounced back to Colorado, I purchased my first MINI and went by the screenname "DaveinDenver". Along with Mark Ferguson (NAM Founder, who lives in Colorado) and Randy Webb (who lives in Littleton, CO), we started up mini5280 (5280 is a very common reference in Denver. Denver is known as the "mile high city" since it is one mile - 5280 ft - in elevation). I was the original president of mini5280, before I moved back out to SoCal.

The "South of Montana" location in my NAM profile comes from the fact that I live in Santa Monica and there is a street by the name of Montana that I do live South of. I like the reference since Colorado is South of Montana too.

Yeah that was me. Hmmm, now where was I on Friday.......day before AutoX in San Diego---hmmm was polishing out a 1964 Lincoln----Oohhhhh, I was headed down to Carson or heading back from there to pick up an extra set of SS brake lines for Saturdays race.

Did you wave???? I don't remember seeing you.

My first thought was that you lived south of Montana Ave in Santa Monica... then I became confused with the references to Colorado. Soo.. I thought it was in reference to the state of Montana. So, I see how you are... messing with our virtual minds!

I have seen sooo many MINI's now that I am commuting down to the OC. I can't wait until I get mine so I can wave. So.. look for me around the middle of October. I will be zipping along (and I mean zipping) down the 10-405-22 atleast 3 days a week.

So what's the story behind Urban Rock?

Also, what's the spec of the MINI you're waiting:impatient for?

Pepper White/Black MCS at New River Elementary School this evening in Norwalk.
It was Back to School Night for grades K-2. I was there for my two youngest kids (as were my two adult "kids"). The SCMM card on driver-side door was placed there by me.

Later . . . a Black/White MINI turning left onto Alondra from Studebaker in Norwalk, next to Cerritos College.

Well, I started getting into rock climbing this year. The easiest place to climb is Rocreation which is an indoor climbing gym.So, it seemed fitting to identify myself as living in Urban rock. City of cement. Plus when I do climb outside I drive all the way to Lone pine. I did boulder at stoney point. Tore my hand up. And now, I have been unable to climb due to an injury to my brachioradialis at work.

do you mean 06 MCSM, all the princess packages (prem, sport, cold, convienence, h/k, and english leather) DS/B. I kind of regret not getting the LSD and JCW. But, it's not like it will be the last car I buy. I was quoted 7600 to add the JCW kit w/ brakes at the dealer (including labor). Thats 1300 more than factory, but a grand off their "retail"price. I may just mod it instead. I have another 3 wks to decide. I like your solar red. I am jealous that it's not a MCS color. I am going to paint my mirrors red.

I'm on the 405N between the 110 and LAX every morning, and I usually see at least one or two MINIs ( most of which never wave or I'm doing some zigzagging and can't tell). So if you see a sleepy black chick in a DS/B MCS with tinted windows, that would be me I wave back when I'm not trying to get away from evil traffic

Wait, I autocross that run every morning and afternoon to and from Brentwood and wave when safe (of course that means I need to put down the electric razor, cell phone and gallon of coffee ).

I saw a PS/B MCS on La Cienega blvd this morning. It had tinted windows as well but I couldn't get a good look at the driver cuz the tint was hella dark and I was running a bit late for work. Saw an AB/W MC earlier tonight and I think I made eye contact with the driver. I gave him a small smile but he just stared at me (he had sunglasses on) and didn't smile back.

I'm sorta getting used to being ignored on the Westside now. This sucks. Maybe I should move..

Yeah, the 405 is an obstacle course! I'm too sleepy to anything but throw on clothes and get gear into the car for work. Thankfully I don't have to run as far as Brentwood!

Strangely enough, I didn't see any MINIs this morning, but I was going pretty early(6:45ish). My tint isn't so dark you can't see inside, though. I only got a med-light tint all the way around, so I wouldn't get pulled over when I ran up on cops. (the sherriff's station is across the street from my house, so that makes them hard to avoid and they can be ****** about stupid things.)
