SoCal MINI Spottings - Point Check Here!
Heh, I stay pretty much parked while I'm in Murrieta. Work and all ya know.
Occasionally we'll run out of something and I'll head to Sam's. That was the case yesterday. If you're ever near Hunter and Winchester, I'm in the bakery in the shopping center there.

Ya never know, maybe we'll run into eacg other Pip! There are quite a few around, I'm surprised at the lack of wavers though.

Got a "V-for victory" wave around noon today from a CR/B Cooper on the WB 210, white Apple sticker on back and a custom plate I forget.
He was having too much fun, and being a bit of bear-bait, though.

i came home from jetskiing today only to find a black JCW parked outside my house! just i was beginning to think it was an early xmas present i realised it's owner was visiting next door
.
talked with the owner (i think his name was ian) and he even let me take it around the block.gotta get my pulley done!!!
only problem was,in my excitement to back the trailer into the driveway and get out to check out the JCW,i managed to jacknife with my 06 dodge truck and trash the rear bumper
.
the replacement would have easily paid for my pulley install.great day!

Are you Francisco w/ the Black MINI?
The other day I went to get some new tires at the tire place (on Waterman across from the DMV)... I walk in and the guy behind the counter says, "Do you know Francisco?"
I said "who the.. is Francisco?" Counter guy says, "Black MINI, checkerboard roof... he comes in all the time for an oil change..." Not knowing Franscisco I said, "no- I don't know that guy".
So, if you're up here Francisco drop a reply or a PM.. I'd be nice to know a fellow 'Dino-ite on the boards.

Several spottings today, of which only three are of note.
DS/W MCS northbound on 605. I entered freeway and saw it in rear view so I drove slower to let it catch up. (several grannies passed me up and practically gave me the bird.) When the DS finally caught up, it stayed half car length behind me in slower lane. Finally it it got a bit next to me. I waved and honked. Nothing. Both occupants were youthful-looking. I gave up so got back up to speed as the jack-S got on the 91 eastbound.
Second notable sighting was a Pepper White MC driving right behind me in Manhattan Beach. Again I waved. Nothing. Another young driver.
Most significant spotting was a Dark Silver MCSc eastbound on the 10 through West L.A. I had just been passed by an EB/W MCS with young female driver who didn't care to wave when I saw the convertible behind me. We continued in file for a few miles when I finally switched lanes to let it get next to me. They did. They waved, gave thumbs up, and honked!
Driver and passenger appeared middle-aged.

Nothing worse than getting snubbed on a wave or a honk.
Pre-baby, when my wife was driving the MCc full time (I got a new baby AND a new baby, what a deal!
she'd come home and complain if she'd had a sighting without a wave back. This from a woman couldn't really care less about cars, unless they happen to be Minis, esp cabrios.

Coming home Friday was the worst traffic in years. Got off the I-5 south at J. Serra and then was stuck on Cam. Capistrano for 30 min. Some jerk in an old Bronco cut me off so blatanlty I had to slam on the brakes. He knew it and wouldn't even look at me so I didn't get the pleasure of mouthing expetives at him. What a shame, driven to road rage in my Mini
.
But later as I wound my way home avoiding the freeway, I spotted a new (no plates) PW/B Cooper on Ave. Vaquero. I waved. Other Driver Nodded. I guess I am no longer 0-fer...I'll count that as 1/2 since he didn't actually wave

??? Red in 'Dino?
The mid-day sun was brighter than normal... It was only about 105 degrees (typical for this time of year). I couldn't quite make out the shade as we crossed paths in the intersection, but I've never seen it before. Certainly not Chili Red... too early for "Nightfire" ... but definately a shiny new MINI in my stompin' ground.
I waved- and they waved back! Niiiiice!

Hey!
I saw OctaneGuy today on Alla Road, just before the 90 Marina Freeway. I waved, but you had a perplexed look on you face ( I know most people in West LA NEVER wave

Yep that was me! Only thing I had on my mind was get home to pick up my detailing trailer and get to my job site. I saw you as you turned right around the corner, and it "looked like" you were waving--but I couldn't tell, so I waved back--but probably too late. It's so true about the WLA wavers. There are lots of new MINIs in my area and they don't participate.

An ALL SOLAR RED MC yesterday on the 405N between the 90 and the 10 around 3:30 or so in the afternoon.
That combination looked great.
I wasn't able to catch up to wave, but did catch some glimpses from a few car lengths back.
That combination looked great.
I saw a 2007 test mule at about 7:10 am, at the bottom of Big Tunjunga Canyon Road in Sunland. I had just come down from Angeles Forest Highway, and he was headed the opposite way, into the mountains.
I gave a big wave with my arm out the window and got a reluctant wave back
. I was tempted to turn around and follow them, but I had to get to work. Plus, they'd probably have to kill me or something.

Purple Haze MCS in Riverside yesterday! (Still pretty rare in these parts!) I rolled up on the left, tried to wave, but wouldn't you know it, the driver is paying attention to the road! Go figure! Upon passing I got nice honk as he turned right! And then my passenger friend remarks, "you guys are dorks". Gotta love it!
Wierd MINI
Spotted a weird modified MINI yesterday in San Diego on East Mission Bay Drive headed north to I-5. Wisconsin plates.
It turns out it's an ice cream truck! http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...=7325337813960
Edy's/Dreyer's Ice Cream is using them as a promotion. I snapped a picture (from my Mazda pickup), but it's marginal for seeing what it looks like. The above link has some good photos.

MINI's all around me!
Ok, so I am surrounded by MINI's! Someone with velvet red mini lives down the street from around michigan st, and then there is a pepper white and a silver one parked on michigan around lincoln and the 10 in santa monica. I see them every day. Never see their owners. I can't wave because my car is still on order. But I smile! Think everyone would be confused if a bmw waved.
hometown snobbery! *gasp*
(note: lightly salted with sarcasm)
Snubbed?! In my own hometown?!?!
Only two blocks from my house, I was excited to see another new Pure Silver (no Black) in my own stomping ground: At opposite sides of the intersection, I "wink" (flash high-beams)- nothing... I wave profusely- nothing... I get the green, pass by slowly, roll down the window. Two feet away, I give the thumbs up... She looks over, eye-contact. NOTHING! What the?!?!
