A few days ago I got a big wave from a black cooper going down Palo Verde near South Street or was it Gridley near Artesia in cerritos/longbeach area around 5:15p. I'm pictureing it in my head but not sure which street it was I was so excited.

Today saw a CR/W with #37 meatball on the doors, merging onto the 91W from the 57S, at about 7p. No waves exchanged he was merging into traffic, didn't want to cause an accident.

Both good looking cars.

Oh, should have posted here sooner but after I picked up my new S I made it about 2 miles from the dealer before I got a honk from a dark MINI at Spring and Lakewood. Wow, they really do wave how cool! I waved back but they were scootin' so I don't think they saw it.

I have to work tomorrow because I'm taking next week off to drive up to Reno then maybe a stop off in Monterey on the way back, maybe some weekend if I'm not working I'll stop by Ruby's. Is it a regular thing?

 

2nd Saturday is a regular thing.
Sometimes the location changes though.

Just got back from the 808 state (where there has to be more MINIs per capita than anywhere else!! My arm would've gotten tired if I was in BB and not in a rental As it was I was still waving at a few I saw along the northshore!!)
ANYWAY, back to our Golden State
Spotted: BRG/W MC followed by a CR/W MC, both turning onto Main St in Riverside, gotta wave from the BRG, but the CR was...perhaps.....busy turning.
Spotted: B/W MC with white tribal flames near CBU (Adams & 91). Actually seen this one several times, has custom exhaust and a M7 style rear wing. Very nice.....didn't wave cuz I was walking to lunch every time (if you're on here, I'm the fool in the long sleeve white shirt walking in the heat towards Adams' Plaza).
Spotted BS/W MCS Main & 60 fwy...gotta honk after I flashed (it was dark).
Luvin' the increase in MINIs in the IE!!

 

Spotted an all CR MC (I believe it was chili red) headed eastbound on the 91 fwy near Mckinley exit; close to 10am this morning.
We exchanged waves...nice smile by the way...

 

Dude I didn't see you. I'm always looking ahead...but that's okay. I spotted your ride parked at a hotel in Santa Barbara yesterday (well about 6 hours ago) and then later ran into you at a bar with a bunch of other MINI enthusiasts for MTTS!!! We had a blast!!

 

Who would have thought that Scott/Krassanova can sing like a black man.

 

well, soon, my little MCS will be here!! It's going into production 9/4. There are 3 mini's in my immediate vincinity. pw/b, s/b, and I can't remember the name of the dark maroonish looking color. I drool every day.

I saw a Purple Haze/White MINI through my rearview mirror yesterday as I was passing through the Valley on the 101S.

Okay I'm getting a little discouraged.. does ANYONE in West LA wave back?? All I get are blank stares.. :(

 

I struck out on the westside as well the other day when I drove the MINI. I was 0 out of 5 on my way back from santa monica.

 

Saturday morning my friends and I were coming back from Newport Beach... 0 for 3!?!? Funny part, each one had a vanity plate!* My friend/passenger suggested a "Non-Waver" List/thread (like the "do you wave"... list, but the opposite). No, not desgined to chastize the non-wavers, but to alert the MINI community that, when coming across one of these folks, a polite education session is in order


*(I don't think a non-waver would appreciate they're license plate number(s) posted on the internet)

 

I usually get the blank stare when I wave on the westside. If you see a Solar Red MINI in Santa Monica it is probably me. If I don't wave, wave and I will wave back.

 

As i was pulling out of my parking lot at work the other day, i was behind a fellow co-worker of mine who was driving his MCSc, I gave him a beep-beep on the horn and smiled at him. All I got back was a blank stare back. What's up with that?

Out of 10 MINI's I MIGHT get 1 wave back in the following cities on west side.
It seems the more wealthier the area the less chance you will get a wave.

Sad thing is, I get so used to not getting waves back that I don't even bother, and when a wave is sent to me, before I realize it, it's too late.

The other day I waved to 5 different' MINI's going into Costco Marina, and only one even looked at me and it appeared the girls inside looked at me confused trying to figure out if they knew me. LOL.

 

If i'm coming up from behind another MINI and I give my horn a quick tap first to get their attention and then wave, the chances of getting a wave back increase significantly. I got 3 out of 4 on my way to work on the 10fwy with this method once

is that considered cheating?

 

I was at that same Costco on Sunday morning. It was Sir Geoffrey's first Costco trip and I was amazed how much stuff I could fit with the rear seats folded down.

 

Does anyone wave at MINIs when not in a MINI? For example, if you're taking a walk, and see a MINI... do you wave from the sidewalk?

I haven't decided whether I would look crazy doing that or not.

 

Gotta wave!! Saturday near the LA County Fairgrounds EB/W MCS with paper plates from Nicks (Alexander). Got a big wave from the driver, then they passed me on the EB 10 but lost them in the traffic due to them being able to use the car pool lane!! Nice Car!!

And to answer a previous post..I do wave when I am not in my MCS...usually because I am just suprised to see them out here in the IE

 

Dave, why do I keep thinking you live in colorado? Hey, what color is the dark maroon color? Solar red? Do you live down the street from me? Hmmm.. there is a solar red that parks off the alley in the back of their apt bldg. There is a PS/B combo down the street (aka cul8ter). And a coffee bean at the end of the street, auto body shop at the other.
