Initial impression just driving home? Holy moly. This E45HP....it wishes it could suck all the earth on Earth with each change in gear. I kept it well under 4k RPMs and I can instantly feel it being quicker than it already is. What a lovely turbo.

Just at BT said, the leak hits the o2 sensor and vaporizes releasing a bit of smoke. Nothing else, so far though, very happy I did this. Absolutely love this upgrade. Wish I had done this a long time ago!

Only issue this MINI has now is a small leak from the oil cooler plate. We'll have to talk to Sneed Speed to provide a new plate because the epoxy on the fitting is giving a leak that when it hits the lower O2 sensor on the downpipe releases a bit of smoke through the hood. Should have photos sent to ra2fanatic shortly and he can set them up nicely for you all to see. We still need to fit the Hyperco springs on his coilovers and once again put a new plate on pending what Sneed says on their plate Monday...
I used the plate below from ebay and it was beautifully machined and perfectly flat. I liked it more than the sneed speed piece because it kept the coolant passage internal to have less places to potentially leak. i used the lines it came with for my other cars catch can in a none critical area as they only carry air.

Interesting....as much as I'd do that, I'll stick with my Sneed Speed plate, only because I want to run what they gave me.

Going to be a b-i-t-c-h though since the aux water pump has to come off again, drain the coolant and oil again, and then flush the system again. Then retest for leaks....what a pain. So another day on the lift probably on Monday or Tuesday.

Did you try the thru the fan approach for changing the plate? Only the rad need to come out the the condenser moved out of the way.

Does your car make any odd noises when starting because the cooler is so high?

No, didn't bother with that approach. With the heat shields off it still easier to get to it. The aux water lines get in the way with the top right corner bolt though, so I just detach it from it's 2 bolts and move it out of the way. The line that passes through the U on the plate will come off anyways because the coolant will be drained anyways.

And no noise from the oil cooler being high. At least not that I've noticed so far. All I hear is turbo spool :D

This build almost exactly, will be taking all my money when the cooper is paid off.. Glad to hear some more good things about JM turbos, I looked into them long ago website seemed a little sketch and couldnt find much to back them so I have stuck with the factory baby turbo. Surely looking into a JM or franken in my future

Oh are you talking about the oil cooler plate that doesn't have and threads on the one side? If I'm not mistaken it warps over time. Also how much boost can the N14 handle before you start having problems like excess wear and tear?

Decided I should post these since they I took them anyways.

So, valves were caked. Last ra2fanatic had the valves cleaned were at 40k miles. This is after only 25k miles with water/meth kit.

First we ran the lines like this and when we lined up the bumper the right side wasn't lining up right.

Then we did this, and didn't like how the lines ran.

So then it looks like this...proper.

When the bumper was placed I noticed that the edge could touch the fins on the oil cooler, so we called up ra2fanatic and let him know and we decided it was best to grind the bumper a tiny bit.

Can't even tell what we did

Per ra2fanatic, we also removed the top tab that the Wagner core has. This allowed us to clear the front bar and now it sits flush to the condenser. And it's secured nicely on the stock points. Perfect finish and absolutely no trimming of the grille required.

Leakdown tests were performed and as stated, only leak found were from the Sneed Speed oil cooler plate.

MINI fires up just fine and hopefully we can get that Stage4 to ra2fanatic in a months time....

Also, users RJT and Porthos stopped by the shop today. Porthos picked up a tune, so thanks for coming by Porthos, it was a pleasure speaking to you. And always nice to see RJT come flying down over the hill.

Well that's not a good advertisement for W/M injection. I wonder if running a certain ratio of water would do a better job of keeping the valves clean assuming he was running 100% meth.

It's a possibility, but I'm fine with running 100% Doesn't change my stance on the system. I'm not on WOT every minute, so I wasn't expecting my valves to have just a light coating.

Cruising on the freeway it doesn't inject, until I get on it, so really....I'm not surprised...

ra2fanatic how early does your torque curve start and how far does it go to redline? When I was looking at all the pictures it took awhile to spot the intercooler, it blends in nicely! It should look (stealth) sweat behind the black grill. I'm going to have my valves blasted every 20-30k!

Don't mean to hijack but I've set my system to inject at about a third throttle running off IDC with the primary intent to keep the valves clean. Dirty valves lead to power loss and reduced fuel economy.

I'm certainly watching this thread with interest and like everyone hoping for some big numbers once your tuned

Starts pretty damn early and reaches its peak at 3k RPM. The funny thing is the oil cooler stands out now. lol. Wish that was stealth black also, because that stands out way more than the intercooler!!! But I have to admit, the Wagner turns off quicker than the Evolve FMIC I had. Before the Evolve would be on for a couple of minutes after shutting off the MINI, but the Wager turned off no more than 5 seconds after shutting off. So far so good!!!!

Yeah, mine is injecting later, that was intended for me to not waste meth, but I'll probably dial it down a bit to inject a bit more.

If you were to ditch the AEM CAI your torque would last longer, that's the one thing I noticed when I was running my AEM CAI, torque dropped at 3300 rpms. Now it drops at 4500 rpms also with more low-end torque.

Not really interested in low-end torque really. Hence why I run a linear tune from DNA. For others that's what they want, but I like my linear feel...

I was just going to make this very point. I can go days without triggering my injection or it barely coming on during normal driving. 10L lasts me 5000km of of daily driving but i can use 10L in 80km of tracking the car at a track day. That makes a big difference if the effectiveness of cleaning the valves.

Also, i highly recommend putting some hose protection between the SS line so they do not chaff and cause a leak.

i use this stuff on mine as its also close to the turbo.

I'm awful for taking pics of my stuff so here is the only one i find from my iphone. I run a setrab cooler, ebay plate and -8 custom line with heat shielding. Believe we both picked the same spot for the line to go through (aka the only spot!).

That's pretty much the point I was making, girlfriend dives it to work so I have to set the injection point low. She goes through a about a litre a week. Obviously when I'm diving its a bit more. I'm actually low on meth at the moment so drop one size jet and running straight water, guess I'm going to find out how effective that is.

Washed the MINI today and she's looking quite nice finally. It'll be back in the shop to get the Hyperco springs installed. Have put 100 miles on it already and can't say enough how well it drives.
