I see, understand and appreciate the tip, I'm looking for confirmation that the listed delta numbers are in fact a before/after assessment, and not just 3 runs done back to back with the intake, since power numbers on an intake with no before numbers are pretty useless. So Laforze, if you could confirm that the delta numbers are in fact deltas, and which color line was the before/after (I'd assume that the red line was the after, if I had to guess), I would appreciate it.

I ended up ordering mine from AEM directly (I know, Im not Ken)

They showed OOS on their site last week, but late in the week they updated it with stock. I also called a couple places with it listed on their site, no one had it in stock either.

It should be delivered tomorrow, fingers are crossed...

Any input on this?

I'm curious to see if it's the rumored power boost dial gauage.

AEM's 21-699C cold air intake utilizes the fake OEM hood scoop as well as the OEM fresh air duct to bring in cooler outside air for more power. AEM's design includes a low restriction AEM Dryflow Air Filter. A Filter Minder guage is also included to indicate when it's time to clean your reusable synthetic Dryflow air filter.

That is a quote from one of their marketing pages (my bold/underline added).

Only thing that makes sense to me, and it looks like it matches:

I've tried both intakesandaccessories.com and mudflaps.com in which they both charged me around $280, but quickly cancelled the order.

Any ideas?

This is why I ordered from AEM. I checked with other places. No one could give me any kind of delivery date, or would take an order.

I would just keep checking AEM's site, and if you want to risk it, when you see it in stock there, place your order with the company of your choice. 90% of online stores will drop ship orders like this anyways...

AEM had it in stock at the time, and I decided it was worth 60 bucks extra to have it in 4 days instead of who knows how long.

Plus, in ordering from AEM directly, if there are any future updates it should be easier to get the updated parts.

Good luck to you both.

I got mine from AutoAnything.com for 300 shipped now they are like 380 and mine is the "C" version with update design. no air from the engine bay gets in like a lot of the other cone filter intakes. BUT, I don't know any strut tower braces that will fit and a boost port adaptor for like a boost gauge or my blow off valve, will not fit, unless you cut the box.

I'm talking to AEM about a solution for the boost adapter. Not sure how it will workout, but i'm hoping. I have an NM eng one i havne't installed, but i'm pretty sure it's not going to fit.

Strut bar + one of the other intakes that works with it would be much better than no strut bar and the intake being discussed..

Continue your talk about an intake that has no more backing it up than a dyno which can be manipulated.

EDIT:

I emailed AEM with my questions and concerns on their intake. So we shall see what they say back.
Check this out:

Not just dyno data. I'm getting a pretty good impression of them so far.

I cut mine already, oh well. I will fiberglass it later this summer. I hope to get a M7 Vortex scoop fot the ram air effect.

As for as more power? I installed a forge recirc valve a turbo muffler delete pipe and the intake all in the same day. I can really hear the all the action now. And that is all I wanted. I would not claim to have anymore power than before. My car is an automatic anyway

$350 for an intake.. gees there are some really dumb people out there.. or people with too much money on their hands..

I wish i had $350 to waste on something just as good as a stock box with a panel filter.

lolz.

No need to insult others dude. That says alot more 'bout you than it does about them. It just makes you come across as very insecure.

I'm looking at the DDM and AEM intakes. Both are sealed box intakes that seem to have some merit, for example:

http://www.aemintakes.com/dynocharts...1-699-AITS.pdf

I'm just hoping to find a decent strut bar that fits one of these intakes, then I'll pull the trigger.

not insecure, most likely better educated on minis and intakes.

there is no need for DDM or an AEM on our cars. In hopes of what.. 5bhp.. so 1whp.. so nothing even noticeable..

weird that the best tuner in the mini scene in the US makes the most tq/power on cars with the stock airbox and a drop in.. costs all of $60.. and you have the best intake you can buy.

I just think its funny people would waste their money on something that isnt going to help them..

OK, then why insult others and call them dumb? I can spend my money however I like. The aftermarket shifter **** I bought doesn't add any HP, but I still bought it.

"Most likely better educated on mini and intakes" Really? Ok, if that is the case, then please educate us, seriously. Tell us what you know, based on your experience. Perhaps you've already flow tested, dyno tested, and track tested both of these intakes. OK then, please share your results? As in data.

A true Zen teacher passes along his knowledge and advises fellow enthusiasts, he doesn't look down his nose at others. Only insecure people do that.

Thank god I am not a Zen teacher since this is America and all.

There are plenty of dyno charts to support it, youre basing yours off one dyno chart from AEM.. and most likely the stock dyno was a dirty filter so those gains were merely from putting in a new filter.

No I have no desire to purchase the AEM product since I can find no reason to spend money on a fancy filter when I am off working on making bigger turbos work on my car. But thanks, I can tell you that AEM basically took a stock airbox put a fancy filter, added a pretty heat shield and are now charging you up the *** for it.

Please tell me how AEM's R&D guys are so much smarter than the guys at MINI/Puegoet who designed the engine and car. Those engineers must be pretty dumb.. come on.. seriously use your head. RMWs site has plenty on this. Its not like this intake is going to magically get more air into your cylinder as its metered and its an FI car.

And with tuning (the only way to get real gains from our bolt ons) its been shown the stock airbox always makes more power than the aftermarket ones.

So $350 for some sound is about all you are doing. So high five good job, zen all mofukken day in this.
