Sorry guys. It was a long and hungover weekend for me. The intake is great. You definitely feel the added power(mid range). As far as I know, the set up will come with the added heatshield. As i stated prior, i did not know this was coming until i picked my car up.

As a whole, the system is very well built and feels solid. I've had the ddm street intake in my setup and i can say comparably, that the AEM definitely gives me the oomph that the ddm lacked.

As far as temps go, I can see about getting some readings done. Anyone recommend a particular temp gauge?

As i've said, i've had several different intakes in various cars, and this one not only looks good, but feels good.

I believe the accessport can read air intakes temps.

I bet almost all the intakes on the market create the same gains with similar intake temps.

I love AEM products. They have the money to invest in R&D and have always produced a superior product IMO. Can't wait to see this for sale!

Looks pretty good. I like the heat shield and adding a little function to the hood scoop.

Does this kit change the boost? I know AEM's Evo X intake system removes one of the boost pills, therefor increasing boost.

I've noticed intake systems on turbo cars don't do much with out a tune and in some cases they do worse due to poor maf placement and design. Some companies get around this by manipulating the boost making their intake show fantastic gains when actually the power is coming from a more aggressive tune. Just some food for thought.

AEM does make some pretty good stuff though, so this sucker is going on my watch list.

Seems a ripoff of the DDM system.

The system actually looks pretty sweet and the price tag isn't bad at all. Found it online for 305 shipped!

Looks like a good design...70's Ram-Air throwback!

I'd be concerned about this, from the install booklet:

The AEM® intake system is a performance product that can be used safely during mild weather conditions. During harsh and inclement weather conditions, you must return your vehicle to stock OEM airbox and intake tract configuration

Which I get...heavy rainfall, open scoop, 70mph, etc. wouldn't be a good thing after very long. A bit hard to "return to stock" on a moment's notice, however!

I am more than positive this is their way "CYA" so people don't sue them. I imagine a small modification can be made to put like a foam filter in front so that large amounts of water don't make it in there.

I assume you opened up all the holes in your scoop grille?

You could always put a hydrophobic sock over the air filter to prevent water ingestion.

I have an Alta cai and an open scoop and have never had an issue and I have driven in snow storms with inches of slush being shot onto my hood and heavy rains.. no issues.. being the turbo is right there air passes over some hot airs before reaching the intake i think most of the water would evap before becoming a threat.

I like it,.......I want it!
Rain/slush does not concern me. I know other motoring members with similar setup's who've driven years of problem free miles. Besides, I'm just a sucker for making that hood scoop a more "direct-user-friendly" commodity.
If I can get it for under 4 bill's, then I'm down

Do you think it'll clear a strut tower brace? I would love to hear if any tuners have made some custom tunes using this intake, I wonder if the MAF placement is ok.

I'm starting to want this :D
