Digitys..........exactly where did you find it for $305? I've searched numerous sites - including AEM Home page - to no avail.

That is a GREAT price for this setup.

same i use the alta CAI and never had a problem or issues with water... its just hard as hell to get the filter off to clean it every now and then.

I'd be concerned about this, from the install booklet:

The AEM® intake system is a performance product that can be used safely during mild weather conditions. During harsh and inclement weather conditions, you must return your vehicle to stock OEM airbox and intake tract configuration

Which I get...heavy rainfall, open scoop, 70mph, etc. wouldn't be a good thing after very long. A bit hard to "return to stock" on a moment's notice, however!
I have emailed AEM (since they are closed today - Sat.) about water. I await their reply. Living in SW Ohio, we get a lot of rain at times.

Did anyone find out if this fits a 2012? The sites say 2007-2010.

Just installed it. All I can say is amazing! Fit and finish better than any other I've seen. Not one single issue installing it. Hell, it fit better than the stock intake! Took it for a drive, and it made the car very responsive. Not sure its 10hp responsive, but feels better than the JCW intake I had. And it stayed on the damn turbo! Anyway, here's the pics...

That's good to hear that it went together so well. I ordered one yesterday.
Got a GREAT price.

Yeah, I'm a little pissed about the coupon code deal at Newlevel. I didn't know about it and paid $304.99. Their coupon code would have saved me $20. BTW, it's "twenty" if anyone else order's from them. I emailed them about it, so hopefully they'll honor it retroactivly.

Seriously, what's the difference from the DDM version?

In my case about 140 bucks! I agree with you about them being similar
but the DDM was to rich for my taste.

MINI4tide, don't feel too bad about the price you paid, I went back to the site yesterday afternoon and the price seems to have been changed to aproximately $329. Looks like you still got a great price.

Hows the sound? Also does the air ram part get really hot, is it hard palstic? do you think it could melt just like the scoop?

all power gains are subject to a butt dyno.. which means nothing.

Good questions. I'm curious about these too.

I have had the DDM race setup, and the quality of this intake vs the DDM is superior by far. The fit, look and the price of the AEM is superior too! The DDM is a great piece don't get me wrong, but it just feels like bent metal compared to this. This piece looks completely custom made for the Mini. The Ram part is hard, thick ABS plastic, and it doesn't get too hot. But I haven't driven it much. There is a heatshield that is about 1/4 inch thick that should help with this too. It's not too loud. My DDM was very loud, this one is not so much. You can hear the BoV for sure, just not as pronounced. As for HP, couldn't tell much difference over my JCW intake. Maybe a little more top end. All in all, one of the best dimes I've spent on a mod. I'm more than happy with it so far. I'll have to put a few more miles on it to know for sure.

Thanks for the update. This intake is a really nice system. Uses a dry filter, still utilizes the stock air inlet hose, comes with a heat shield. I'm liking the AEM more and more.

Now I'm torn between this one and the DoS intake which is also a great piece.

The DoS is a great system also, so yeah I can see your dilemma. But I always felt the DoS system looked like part of the motor was missing. Just an observation, not trying to steer you away from DoS. I could have gone that route too, the AEM was just so much more for the money, and I felt the scoop inclusion was important to me. We'll see over time how it lasts, but its everything I wanted, and that's all that counts!

I should have phrased my question more appropriately and I'm glad that you called me on it.
I promise to play nice. Not slamming anyone, just genuinely curious.

No problem. I'm curious too, but if no one took chances outside what one would call the "norm" or the "best", your intake would be the only intake on the market. Good for you, sure. But to me, vanilla was never as satisfying as any other flavor out there. It's about choice. Hopefully it was the right one, and if not, I can make another one. No harm, no foul.

Took it out for a spin tonight and really ran it hard. All I have to say is , wow! I stand corrected about what I said about the power gain with this intake. The car pulls very hard now. The top end is much stronger. At about 85, in 6th gear, if I press the gas, it pulls much harder to 120 without downshifting. I feel like the power is there through each gear. Its a butt dyno, but I drive this car everyday, and I notice every little change. I'm thoroughly impressed with it.

Do you know if this system raises the boost?
