Ok I was about to pull the trigger on the AEM intake for my 2009 factory JCW #21-699C, but according to AEM's website there are "No products found for your vehicle" I called AEM and they confirmed it and said it could void the warranty. But Ebay and other sites claim that it is compatible. It fits a 2009 S, What is the difference between a 2009 S and JCW, isn't it basically the same engine..N14? The reason why I'm looking to upgrade my intake is because the stock tube split at the turbo hook up, exactly like they show on the ALTA site. I thought about getting the ALTA tube, but AEM seem to offer you more for the $$. Any thoughts?? Is it worth it installing on a fJCW?

The JCW has lower compression ratio and I believe a larger turbo or at least larger inlet. The lower compression ratio is beneficial when getting a tune, JCW's almost always make more power.

I have the kit on Pepper (the N18 version). I love the way it sounds.

It has to do with the larger inlet on the turbo. The AEM pipe is sized for the Cooper S turbo, not the JCW. So you'd have to trim out the AEM pipe to fit around the larger inlet of your turbo. PM ra2fanatic for some advice.

Now CARB legal

Hi,

For those of you who still want this, but werent able to get it due to CARB restriction, it is now CARB legal. I had placed my order on amazon initially, which they wanted to cancel thinking it was not carb legal, but i showed them on aemintakes.com that it states its 50 state legal. So they shipped to me in CA and came with the carb sticker and everything.

Bringing this post back from the dead....

I've been looking at the AEM CAI and noticed the price has increased quite a bit. The best I found so far is about $385..... I plan on ordering one, hope it's worth it!!!

OK, I just received my AEM CAI and in the process of installing. Problem is I have an ALTA boost port which seems to be in the way of the air box going into the grommets.

anyone have this issue?

Please note that I had to heat the bottom rear of the CAI box and form it to go over the ALTA boost port. It worked out great.

I'm surprised AEM didn't take boost ports into consideration. Many of us have them!!!
