So because the N18 intake is another 5 weeks away, the bar won't be out till the release of that.

I was also told the the images of the strut bar should have never been released as it was an early prototype.

....so basically I say you shouldn't wait around if you have been, unless you're very patient. I've been wanting to get my hands an the intake but it just keeps getting delayed, I'll just have to keep on waiting.

I waiting a long time for my AEM CAI. And all I can tell you is that the wait was worth it! I was fortunate enough to learn a lot of cool research, testing and development behind the AEM CAI. I knew I had a very well thought out, well designed and great performing CAI.

And yes I am playing the waiting game for the strut bar too. But like my CAI, it will be worth it too

I changed Jm Turbo coopers S42HP hybrid turbocharger and found differences in compressorhousing inlet diameters compared to the standard MCS N14 turbo comp.housing. Inlet sides is stand. 44mm and hybrid is 50mm.When using the standard suction pipe problem was easily solved by taken off the sealing(adapter) ring out of the plastic/gum pipe. But I was thinking to buy AEM intake kit and I believe that the suction pipe diameter measurement is the standard 44mm. Does anyone have a solution on how to AEM fit into the hybrid turbos 50mm inlet tube?I checked the Lohen UK. AEM intake inner diameter is about 44mm.How the N18 engine? Whether the same standard turbo inlet pipe diameter than N14? And sorry poor english...

Last I spoke to them, they said the parts were already in quote and to get back to them in three weeks....so mid-July....it's taking awhile, but the wait will be worth it.

I just noticed this one on OutMotoring:

GT Spec Upper Stress Bar
“If you've got the AEM or DDM intake that has the air scoop funnel this is the only upper stress that we know of that will clear the intake and the funnel once installed.

“This is a absolutely fantastical product that is engineered very well and looks stunning. Aside from doing what it was engineered to do it makes the engine bay of your Turbo MINI Cooper look complete. Super thick base plates (grey colored) could double as a strut tower plate while the cross bar is polished metal.”

I have no affiliation with OutMotoring, just another customer. Followed a link from the Vendor Announcements forum here to their new products page. Might be worth a phone call to find out when they're going to get inventory, or if they can have it drop-shipped from a distributor.

I'm curious when they say "funnel" if they are talking about the part that attaches to the hood scoop or are they talking about another portion of the intake.

Any updates on the AEM intake for the N18? I have a 2013 MCS waiting impatiently. .lol

Also, has anyone installed the upgraded nm diverter valve spring? I was wondering if there is any noticeable improvement over stock spring.

FYI guys, www.360tuners.com has the AEM intake on sale right now for their 4th of July sale for $276 with free shipping. If you use the coupon code UPSELL350 you'll get an additional $20 off. I ended up paying $256 shipped; pretty sweet.

Also, there was a comment on one of the coupon websites about doing checkout through Google Wallet and being able to apply the discount code twice (like a loophole), so I tried it. Sure enough, it brought my total down to $236. However, I paid and got my confirmation email, and about 2 minutes later I got an email saying the purchase was denied because the 360tuners and Google prices at checkout didn't match up. So no dice. Still, $256 is a steal.

Cheers.

I'm sure no one really cares, but just to follow up, the deal is not as I described above. They ended up screwing me over. I was charged $256 and the order went through, but they cancelled my order the next morning. I called to ask why and they said "because the intake costs $313 during the sale." I explained that it obviously didn't when I made the purchase and they just tried to act all confused. I finally spoke with the manager who I had spoken with the first time. He said that he didn't pay attention to the price when he was talking to me and that it actually is $313 now. I explained that obviously I didn't hack the system or something because it was listed that way on the website and they charged me that way. At any rate, he said he would give it to me for $256 if he didn't lose money, so he contacted AEM. They never called me back. After 3 calls of trying to speak with someone, I finally got ahold of them and a guy told me the cost from AEM is $286 and that's the lowest they'd charge me. They then said "hold on one sec" and put me on hold. After being on hold for 22 minutes, no one returned. I've now called back 10 times and unable to get anyone and it's during business hours. WTF. And there's still a pended charge on my credit card.

?!?!??!?!?!?!

That whole process kinda sucks. :( I don't blame them for not wanting to lose money... But they didn't exactly follow through all that well. For what it's worth, it can take a day or two for a credit to appear on your card statement.

Anything on the intake for N18? Or how to make the current one fit the N18? I ordered one that arrived today not knowing it doesn't fit my engine. So I need to send it back or modify the install...

For what it's worth I have this installed on a 2011 clubmanS (n18) with no issues. I simply cut the metal tube that came with it to use the stick turbo inlet tube. I also used the heat shield that came with it. A tiny amount of rubbing, but have had it on for several months with no issues.

Where is the rubbing coming from? Can you post pics?

I will take some pics tonight or tommorrow. There are 3 spots. The oil fill neck on the top of the engine. The top cap on an (I think) AC line, and a (I think) o2 sensor cable.

I emailed aem asking when the n18 intake would be released
this is the reply
anyone fancy
lending them your car

I am not too sure as to when but I am pretty sure we will have something. We just have to get one in here for development.

It's been two years, have they been waiting for someone to loan them a car the last two years? Rent one, but don't sit there and twirl your thumbs. If AEM really wanted to produce an intake for the new MCS and JCW's, they would have found a way on their own instead of waiting all this time. I wouldn't recommend buying one though.

That is complete bullsh*t. This time last year they had my car for a week test fitting parts.

I have an N18 R58S.
To this day I still haven't been compensated for lending them my car. It's one excuse after another with those guys.

First it was the FRS intake(car was just released), that took precedence over MINI.

Then it was, "oh the parts don't line up".
Then it was last years SEMA that delayed it, now this years SEMA delayed it.

Don't hold your breathe guys.

Maybe sales of the one for the earlier engine sucked. But if so, they should just say that, not make excuses.

Installed this intake on my cooper s. Love it! But have two concerns. The air box housing is hitting on the valve on the back of the valve cover. And second concern I have read a thread regarding the heat shield can cause the valve cover to melt.

Has anyone installed the AEM strut brace with a OCc?

Which valve are you speaking of? I have had my AEM CAI on for about a year and have had zero problems.
