So...I just came home yesterday with the finished bar from AEM. Here are a couple of shots i took this morning.

Not sure when it's going to be out yet, as they are prioritizing some other cars atm.

Nice, thanks for the pics!

Does anyone know if AEM ever answer the phone or email? I've been trying to find out when they will make some more of the CAI's for the R56/55. Their site shows out of stock and distributors don't seem to have any either. Calls go to an answering machine and emails not returned. :(

NP. Try again this week. Remember, they were just at SEMA so they may have been tied up and under staffed.

Lets you know if the filter is dirty based on suction force.

AEM's updated CAI to fit MY2011+ MINI Cooper S

Bruno at AEM says an updated CAI is in the works that will fit the MY2011+ MINI Cooper S "and all non-MAF sensor S models in the UK, EU, AU, Canada, etc."

See Update at http://www.lacar.com/?p=13874

The intake/strut bar combo looks awesome minus that dorky "gauge" device. I would install it without that. It looks very cartoon-ish in the engine bay.

Well having gone from DDM RIS to DOS and now I'll soon be on an AEM intake next. I guess I'll see how much I like this system but already dislike I because it's not compatible with my M7 strut bar....

Installing this system right now and I can already say that this isn't one of the easiest systems to install. A lot more pieces to put together and if there is any engine work needed done, the AEM system will take a bit more effort in removing than, say....a DOS system.

It's still easy to install and straightforward, but I think it should have been prebuilt a bit more than having the user put all the tiny bits together. Not a huge fan of the hex bolts they use either. Just my .02

Give us your thoughts after you get it in. You've definitely been through several changes with your car and have a good comparison of the different intakes.
