i've read every page, and am curious if anyone has tried fitting a velocity stack on the airbox inlet with a larger ID air filter? or maybe there is a velocity stack already molded in the airbox inlet?

also, any heavy rain users yet? seems like AEM could have designed a ramp inside the scoop with holes at the bottom for drainage. then again maybe they did and i just didn't notice it...

thanks!

I've driven mine in many downpours with no adverse effects. Not sure about the other question you have.

AEM INTAKE. I just installed mine yesterday on a new to me 08 mcs. I picked it up from a guy here on the forums with a new promini.com scoop mesh. All for about 330.00. Fitment and install was easy enough, about a 3/10, ten being a clutch replacement. I have not noticed a tremendous difference, at least nothing to brag about, but I did notice the stronger pull from 2500 + rpms, The increased whistle noise is pretty cool too.

My thanks goes out to 11mcsaz for a quick reply and sale!

Here are some pics, and is it normal to see that much oil from the turbo when I detached the hose from it?

The oil is from the PVC system upstream and not the turbo, however it always a god Idea to check for any shaft play on the turbo when you have the intake side off like u do in that pic. Todd

I am trying to install the intake in a euro spec car with no MAF sensor. Could someone measure the length of the MAF housing as well as its diameter so I can "patch" an aluminum tube ?

i just found out that Canadian minis have no mafs either? does that mean i can't install one of these? any other canadian owners able to verify this?

Is it just an issue of the length of pipe? If so, i'd be willing to modify that in order to make use of this.

I have contaced AEM and they said its just a length issue, there is a similar problem with the DoS intake. An aluminum pipe would be a good fix I belive

Ordered one today for $269 shipped! Wish the vendors here could have price matched. I would have much rather purchased from them. I'll post up when the install is complete!

I didn't post it publicly out of respect for the board vendors. PM me if you'd like to know... or a little Googling should get you what you want. Haha

Noob, looks sharp, nice intake. Just be cautious about how much extra heat the turbo cover holds in, been seeing posts here and in other news about an O-Ring in the turbo oil feed line melting and leaking under pressure, I would suspect the turbo shield may possibly accellerate that failure. Sad because they really do dress up the engine bay nicely.

Oh, so you're the guy who beat me to it!
Thanks for posting the notes and pics. I now have an AEM intake back-ordered.

^ Called TH Motorsports today. Turns out they're on back-order until next year. They refunded my money and now I'm debating on whether I wait it out or go buy a different one. Hahaha

Or pay more from a dealer with the good sense to stock what they sell!

I mock myself -- I am in the same boat too

Hahaha! If it was a couple bucks here and there, cool. I'd gladly pay for more for a board sponsor. This is 100 bucks (give or take) so it's kind of a big deal. hahah
