Its a butt dyno, but I drive this car everyday, and I notice every little change. I'm thoroughly impressed with it.
Where is the video?!

How does it work out for strut bar fitment? Any interference?

i have a M7 J brace bar that i would like to know if it interferes at all with this.

None at all? No option what so ever?

This decision just became harder...........

Yes, its a trade off. Although I couldn't tell the difference between having a strut brace and not having a strut brace.

I definitely could feel my car "push" more in corners on the track without my strut brace on when i did a back to back testing. Don't know if i'm willing to give it up for a couple extra horses over another intake even though i like this one the best.

Yeah, I could see noticing a difference at the track. I don't track mine, so I didn't notice with everyday spirited driving. I havent tried this intake with a strut bar, who knows, could work but I wouldn't bet on it.

Is it possible for AEM to confirm what (if any) strut braces the intake works with. This would help potential customers like me decide whether it will fit or not?

AEM makes a better product, better engineering and years upon years of proven experience. Worth the money.

I emailed AEM and they have said they are quite sure it does not work with any strut bars.

My opinion this is one of the first intakes that doesn't look like any after thought in the engine bay. The fit and finish look very good being a injection moulded piece.

Now to decide if the strut bar is worth giving up......

Lose it. You don't really need that strut bar - its effect is minimal to nil.
CAI isn't much more effective either, other than making the hood scoop a bit more "directly" usefull. But that's exactly what I'll be doing soon.

Dropped my car back at AEM last Tuesday for them to prototype some new stuff.

I'll be getting it back this Friday and will post up some new pictures.

As for the strut bar, i know that i had to take my NM engineering bar off because it does not clear. I would suspect that you would have the same problems with the M7 bars as well.

Again, i couldn't have asked for a better group of individuals over at AEM. These guys have been nothing but a pleasure to work.

I'll keep you guys updated.

By CAI do you mean any or the AEM one? As wondering if I should give up my M7 strut brace (J version) to fit the AEM but if you reckon strut brace doesn't do much and nor does a CAI if you mean the AEMone then I might as well not bother.

Should interested persons not wait for the revisions to be made to the AEM or do these vendors not keep stock and any order will be on hold until AEM sell their revised version?

I would keep the strut bar.. AEMs intake is no better than any other intake on the market. And I will continue to state this until someone comes up with real proof that one intake is any better than the other in terms of intake temps.. until then you are just paying for a pretty little piece under the hood lol.

Strut bar + one of the other intakes that works with it would be much better than no strut bar and the intake being discussed..

Continue your talk about an intake that has no more backing it up than a dyno which can be manipulated.

EDIT:

I emailed AEM with my questions and concerns on their intake. So we shall see what they say back.

Probably, at my age, I shouldn't be interested in CAIs, but I can't help but keep watching this string and thinking about getting one. It is interesting how many different intakes there are, all claiming HP gains and the sound of the turbo spooling and the sound of the BOV. I won't muddy the water by asking "which is best" since I already know that the one you have is the best.

Keep up the good work (reporting) and maybe one of these days I will pull the trigger and get one.

I've seen a MCS with the DDM RIS and have a strut brace. This one is a GTSPEC bar.

I love my AEM intake. I can now literally lay my cheek on my hood with their setup. Quality intake utilizing the scoop and supplying a heatshield that lays right over the turbo for under $400? Tell me who else supplies all of this? They all claim hp gains, AEM is no different. Behind all of what i have already explained, i indeed felt the power gain, specifically in the midrange since having this installed. This is by far the best intake that I have purchased to date.

BTW, We should meet up sometime if you want to check the intake out. My father lives in San Pedro and i'm generally out there every other week.
