I have looked into past website upgrades with MINI USA, it has been on a friday most times. So maybe friday..or after..since its the long weekend. They still have the 2010 deals up on the front page, and those ended yesterday.

Below is what I got out of Miniusa when I asked about WHEN we would be able to configure a 2011 Mini Cooper:

.
>Hi Bill,

Thanks for your response.

We do not have an approximate release date for the 2011 model year MINIs. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a date in which our website will be updated to reflect the new model year. Our website is updated frequently and will have the most up-to-date information. We appreciate your patience in the interim.

The MINI Customer Relations and Services Department is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time. You can reach us at 1.866.ASK.MINI (275-6464).

So here we are and wait, oh yes, and be patient.

It sounds like folks are going down to their dealers and placing orders for 2011s??? I thought the dealers got final pricing a week ago, around the end of MTTS.

Exactly right, sobiloff. Although some dealers have been taking orders since production slots were available several weeks back, Dealers only got pricing on Friday the 20th (I think). I was able to negotiate the price and placed an order earlier this week.

Of course I'm also curious to see the new configurator because my MA let me know that Leatherette has a different description on the 2011's (it may be all black). It wasn't a deal-breaker for me, so I went ahead anyway.

Now it's just about waiting for a production and delivery date!

Yup, many people are/have already ordered. It was somewhat difficult to do without the configuration because some interior trims have changed, but from the various pictures available, I was able to know what I wanted. The big add-on differences are adaptives and auto-dim side mirrors. It came as a surprise when I found out I had to get the auto-dim rearview mirror too, and adaptives you have to have power-wash and Xenons. Things like that may be avoided by having the configuration, but if you know what you want, just go for it. I sat with my MA and went through every option available and said yes or no. I hope I didn't botch the interior, but it's not a deal breaker for me either.

2011 configurator

Per bulletin from MINI the 2011 configurator will be live on or before 9/10 - dealers have not received color chips or swatches yet either.

There was also a bulletin stating that the configuration would be up before 9/1/2011, to the dealers.

Probably the 10th then. I've stopped caring at this point, my car begins production in the next week and I don't want to go "oh crap I need to change this!"

I ordered my Mini 8/31 and being that the dealer didn’t have the information on the 2011. I just found out that the standard headliner will be beige as opposed to gray! I’ll have to pay an extra $250 for the Anthracite Headliner! That sucks!

Also, this is my first Mini. And I’m waiting for delivery to find out what financing will be available…does Mini usually offer good programs on the new models?

Guess that got my 11's too much instead of the 10's. Right, 9/03/10 in all probability, or maybe. Me too, I'm past the need for the configuration now. I've had the option list for the JCW since the first of August with the codes that they use, and that is enough for the dealer to key the items. Wahoo_shoe. I'm 99% there on the order. Ordered out of Chicago and got, what I think is a pretty good deal. I'm still in the dark whether to go with the Xenon's with the Adaptive system. She offered to pay for half of the cost.

I decided against adaptives because I didn't want the auto-lights/wipers. The lights might have stayed on auto (probably not though, as they apparently chose low/high beams for you too), but the wipers definitely not, and all of the above wasn't worth $350 to me. Adaptives are such a new technology and we've been getting by with them for this long, again, for $350 with two other features I'd probably leave off? They already shoved auto-dim rearview mirror down my throat, had to stop them somewhere. Yeah it would've only been ~$8 a month more on my payment, but still...just fancy, not that useful, IMO

Also, Gabe over on MF says give it a week. So now I say next Friday. End of summer happens unofficially this weekend, next Friday seems like a good place to roll out the new models online. I STILL haven't gotten a production date, even though I've been scheduled for production for a week now. I wonder if they haven't ramped the factory up yet for full-time 2011 production...

wahoo_shoe, it's odd that you don't have a production date yet, since I think you ordered before me. I noticed that the OL reported that mine was scheduled for production so I called the ASK-MINI line and the automated system told me that it scheduled to complete production next Wednesday. You don't have NAV or MINI Connected, do you? I think either of those might be held up for months based on what I've read over at MotoringFile.

Mini Oxford has been in production of the 2011's since August 10th, so they shouldn't be having any problems. Of course, most of the early cars were fill cars that the dealers ordered for stock. I don't know about ordered from dealers cars, but maybe just do as Dodgy says, check witht ASK-MINI and go from there.

As for the options there, the Auto dimming interior mirror, Universal Garage door opener and the rain sensitive wipers with auto headlights, I'm still on the fence about. If I take them off, I will put the suspension back on. I still thing that the JCW needs an upgraded suspension. Oh well, I have a week to do this.

I know!! My dealer had a ClubmanS slot that hadn't begun production yet so I was able to snag it and just modify it, and my order/spec sheet says I'm Status: 121 (Scheduled for Daily Production Pack) and I'm Priority 1 (meaning the car's been sold, I think this matters come VDC-time because it means I'll be processed quickly).
I called ASKMINI Tuesday and they still said "yeah it should start production by Friday". She said she didn't have a date or even a week# because I was slated to start ASAP. The automated line was updated Wednesday saying I've been slated to begin, but no production date is available. UGH! I guess I'll call back later this evening before they close for the weekend and see what's up. The lady Tuesday said it could be started next week, but it would most likely be this week, soo I guess I shouldn't have held hope on that.
The OL status is just "On Order"...apparently that's always last to update, so I've just been calling

Welp, called about an hour ago right before ASK-MINI closed for the weekend. This guy was very helpful (always called me "ma'am" and at age 22, I was all giggly...shoulda gotten his number) and said that where I stand, it's being "prepped" for production but hasn't begun the process yet. I don't even have a production date yet. Which is rreeaalllyyy freaking weird because most other people on here when they use a dealer slot, almost instantly know. I hope my dealer didn't lie and I have to wait two weeks to get in, or this is a really late slot. I'm still holding on to begin next week sometime and that puts me in the last week of September/first week of October for delivery.

*sigh* the wait sucks. I keep imagining what it'll be like to finally drive it. But tomorrow I'm selling my current car and it sucks to not have anything that's "mine", and this would be a whole lot easier if I knew Clubby was getting built already. Gonna be a long weekend. At least I start a new job next week and will help distract me

I know the wait is crappy, having endured it twice, but the delay may be kinder to your MINIs. Let the hurricanes pass before your boat brings the babies across the Atlantic

Well oldsbear, they have to be built first. Right, I know, you're trying to make us feel better.

As long as they're put on the boat right, they should be fine. My MA told me mine was going to get a private suite.

So my car is supposed to finish production on Wednesday. I think if they offered a live video feed of the factory, or a twitter-like update of "Your MINI's left door has just been attached! Your MINI's right door has just been attached..." it would satisfy my inner-MINIac better.

My MA said there's maybe a week waiting in port in the UK, too... Ugh.

I know there are support groups for various week's production. What week would I be in?

Dodgy: you lucky!!! Dangit dangit dangit! Why hasn't my MINI started?!?! *cue waterworks* They don't even have a production week for me, he just said I haven't been scheduled yet. I'm gonna call Monday evening and see if either it's just cued up and I'm waiting for an empty slot (since I do have "scheduled for daily production pack" as my status. It's not even like I'm still in order stage, although the OL says I am), or I have to wait weeks for a production week. Since I have a production number, the lady early last week said this past week or this upcoming week, and the fact that I'm "Daily Production Pack", I'll just cross my fingers for Monday or Tuesday.
On another note, there's a support group for 2011ers over in "1st Gear". Since there seems to be very few of us and we're spread out, it's easier to whine over there

And let the hurricanes come, MINIs can outrun them, obviously

wahoo_shoe, now settle down now, don't be so impatient. Now, can't you remember being told that in previous years? Things come to those that are patient right? Right in a couple of weeks I'll probably be biting at the bit too. just be happy that yours is ACTUALLY ordered. Mine has to go through the credit check in all. Guess that they really want to know if I can pay for this or not. Ok, whatever.

It's not impatience, it's frustration that everyone knows at least a build week and I can't even dig that information out of anyone, just a "oh it should be built this week or next". Uh, ok..
