>>AskMini has changed their policy and no longer tell you anything after the car is loaded on the boat in the UK. They now make you call your motoring advisor for this information. Most motoring advisors do not answer their phones (they let it always roll to voicemail) and I've found they rarely return calls (especially if it is just a status call). That is why Ryan and I were wondering how daMata found out his car had left the VPC. Most of us are in the dark until we hear that our car is at the dealer. I wish Mini hadn't changed the askmini policy. If they were concerned about costs they should upgrade the owners lounge to be a real time status number generator instead of cute graphics and once a week updates.

eww, that sucks, i wasn't aware of that, the rat bastards! just makes the waiting process that much more painful, i guess.
WOOOOO for you lilcajun! hopefully the BMW ***** over at checkered flag will take care of you fairly quickly. I was just there today getting them to look at my windshield as they found a teeny tiny rock chip causing the crack. I really don't like them too much over there (not because of them finding a rock mark), and wish they would be a little nicer to the MINI-owners. oh well

The waiting.
The interminable, d*mnable, frustrating and painful waiting.
The Fidelio has been in Charleston for two days now, and Daniel isn't off of the boat yet. TWO DAYS!
If I didn't have a new X-Box and Project Gotham Racing, I might have gone crazy by now. At least I can drive a MINI there...

Awww shucks guys, you're makin' me blush. I do like the idea of a Virtual Motoring Advisor, that rules!
RandyBMC has got me all excited over the new H-Sport springs. He's saying they are the most balanced and best handling spring to-date, period! I'm gonna talk to him tomorrow, and probley order 'em. The H&R's that arrived with such quickness from Tire Rack will have to go to another less-demanding MINI-motorer
Cheers,

My dealer called and left a voicemail for me stating that it had left VPC and was on a truck heading chicago bound. I told them ahead of time to let me know as I have to make travel arrangements to chicago as I live in Minnesota...so friday I'm taking an amtrak down to chicago and spending a few days there with some other MINI nuts while I pick up my car and motor around Northern IL and SouthEast WI.

Closer...closer...closer....
Katie, how's the clutch practice going? If it makes you feel any better, I learned to drive a stick when I was about 14 in a 1968 VW bus...I felt like my nose was pressed up against the windshield and the shifter was about 4 feet long. If you get a few stutters and stalls as you learn at least you will be doing it in style!
Ryan, thanks for the help with the sig...this time it just might work (crosses fingers and toes)
Rachel, I hope that you are feeling better and will be motoring soon!
Hang in there par4, our ship will come in (and then our truck will come in, etc., etc.)
Goodnight CWFAC

Hey daMatta, what dealership is your MINI rolling into? Mine's been at the VPC quite long enough now. Grover will be headed to Bill Jacobs in Naperville and was hoping that they might be on the same truck. Although my MA warned me that they have A LOT of cars coming in and they might get backed up a bit.
Hmm, looks like it's time to drop the price on my Durango.

Chef, the sig's lookin good! And that is probably the best why to cope with the waiting process, by constantly revamping your sig. Think of it as your virtual wheels that get you around MCO .
Unfortunately, I will not have acess to any manual transmission's untill I pick up the mini, but I think I'm OK now. I'm pretty confident I can do it. Actually I think I am more just buzzin' on the drunken giddiness of knowing that in 2 days I will have a MINI!!!!!!! I think this car is gonna make me feel like I can do anything.

Oh by the way, has any one checked out the 360 view off the mini on yahoo auto's? It's a fun little virtual tour of the car, that is very detailed. Of course some of the info. is wrong or slightly off, but it's fun to check out all the same.

Nice looking sig Chef. I have been curious as what it looks like. The wait was worth it. I also learned to drive a stick in a 68 VW bus. I was lining in England at the tiem. It was red, and here I am many years later replacing a blue VW with a red mini.
Katie, isn't there someone at school with a manual transmission who can give you a quick lesson before friday? It would be a bit different, but at least you wouldn't be going in cold turkey.

My mother told me yesterday that she feels I'm acting the same way that she did the first time I rode the bus home from kindergarten...nervous, watching the window (website) all of the time, calling friends (our boards) to discuss what it'll be like when the "kid" is home.
I'm a nervous parent!
Meghan

I'm in MINI lust-mode now. I've just looked over all of our cars on the CWFAC site, and I'm struck again by how absolutely beautiful these machines are. They're so smooth, and compact, and each detail looks like it's meant to be there.
I, of course, am still partial to my beloved Pepper/Black, but some of these other combinations are really striking. The Black/Black looks like a little pinch of night, it looks like it could slip through the evening invisibly. The Chili/Black looks like a fighter, it looks aggressive, and strong. The Yellows are like big smiley-faces you can drive, they look so happy! The Greens, Silvers and Blues look so refined, they look like the executives of the MINI family. The Electrics are just wicked cool, they somehow have a punk feeling, oi!
I think though, if I had to choose again, I would get a Velvet/Black. Katie, you'll have to let us know if your new addition purrs. The Velvet/Black looks almost catlike, like it would rub around your legs and slink off.
Oh yes, this is surely MINI-lust. I've got it bad.

I know exactly what you're talking about Meghan! It was a huge dilemma for me to decide the color for my MINI. My first choice was Pepper White; second was Cosmos Black, only to realize that neither is available on the S, DOH! I've read that Pepper White is going to be made an S color at the earliest MY04, so there is a distant possibility I might be running CWFAC'04

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryan,
In the words of the Eagles: "You can check out, but you can never leave". If you go for the pepper white MCS 04, you will still be a member of the CWFAC '03.
Any word from your MA regarding your MINI. Has it left the VPC yet?

MINI-lust has just shifted into MINI-ecstasy-bliss. I just got off the phone with my MA, and apparently (though the sites haven't updated) my car is a possible Friday delivery, next Wednesday at the latest. Isn't that wild?
Mojitos for everyone! Woo-hoo!

Just got a VERY prompt email reply from my MA, Eang at Bill Jacobs, thanking me for my patience
and letting me know that the car is still at the VPC.
I'm NOT getting any dealer stuff added (i.e. lights, stripes, etc), so hopefully they can clear it through on their end quickly.

I had a hard time with colors, too... for a while I tried bribing my MA into a velvet red S, but, alas...
Now my MA works for the BMW side of the dealership and it's getting a bit difficult to get email replies from him

Howdy all,
Okay, okay... so I'm not on here a bunch, or haven't been in the past, but as the days draw nearer to my baby arriving, I keep finding myself wandering the pages looking at posts and thinking... soon... very soon.
Some more about my car... MCS, Pure Silver, Black, Space Cloth, Anthracite, HK Sound, Premium, Cold, and Sport packages, Visibility, 17" All season, S-lights. They tell me that I'm at the distribution center waiting to catch a truck to Chicago. Talked to my dealer yesterday via e-mail (very responsive!), and went over a few things. Didn't seem to know when it would make it's way to the Chicagoland area... said maybe a week or two. We'll see.
One thing though... A question.. maybe it's better on a different forum, but I'll give it a shot. I didn't order the bonnet stripes, but now I'm thinking I want them. Part of the package right? So, in my e-mails to the dealer yesterday, they advised that becuase I didn't order them with the car, that I would have to pay $125 for the stripes and then another $150 for the installation I believe. I was under the impression that they were put on at the dealership anyways, and so my thought was that they wouldn't charge for it. Thoughts?
Well, I guess that's it. I'm just excited because I've been waiting since I put my order in over 6 months ago... The day is almost here.
